Chapter 39 39
OFELIA.
How could they be hiding the truth, knowing that it could make the dragons hate her more? I seriously had no much issue with them, because the humans are enemies to no supernatural territory, but always watching as my friend is bullied verbally and physically was one thing I didn't expect when that dragon ruler was here.
Who cares if she was a fae? She's lived in the human land for so many years and should not, for any reason, have a taste of what the dragons do to the faes. In addition to her brother not yet found, what does that mean, even though he was doing what?
I exhaled and folded my arms across my chest, staring out at the moon, which shone directly at my face.
Perrin hadn't been here for days now, and I'd been the only one staying there. I'd gotten used to it, but I wished Vina were here with me so I could tell her so many stories I read recently.
When I didn't expect it, my mind shut down an important thought, only to flash at me the dragon's right-hand man who took me out of the ruler's chamber. What was that he did with me? Teleporting? It was so fun, and I didn't even realise someone was holding me.
I stared at my palms. Could a human have such a power?
If I had it, I would harm a lot of people with it.
Then it struck my head like a blow as I recalled how he grabbed me by my waist. My lips circled in shock, and at first, I covered my face.
What man grabs a lady without her permission? He seriously held my waist that way as though he were my husband.
I touched my waist once again and shook my head. “He wasn't in his right senses and only wanted to take me away from the Sovereign's chamber. If not…
Nope! Even after he dropped me here, he didn't let go of me immediately. He stared into my eyes for so long until I cleared my throat and slowly pulled away from him.
Was he lost in thought? Did he not realise he was holding a woman? That's flattery and could be termed a sexual assault where I came from.
I coughed intentionally, trying to get rid of the thought.
“Let's say, he made a mistake and wouldn't do it again,” I told myself and began humming, only for someone to nudge me from behind.
I tripped and staggered forward, losing my balance. If I didn't hold still, I would have fallen to the floor, and with my contorted face, I turned around to see who it could be.
“Perrin!” I screamed, because I thought no one could come in here if not her. But the clacking sound of swords against each other resounded in the air, and when I narrowed my eyes, I really saw two men fighting some feet away from me. “What? Did they mistakenly do that to me?”
I tried to step closer, because I didn't understand how someone would just come into someone else's compound and begin fighting. Wasn't that so insane of them?
As I got close, I was able to see that one of them wore a mask, but the other backed me so I didn't see who he was. His body structure? It couldn't be that man without manners.
I folded my arms, watching them, until I couldn't stand it any longer, but shrieked at them, “You two are out of your mind!! How dare you come in here to fight? Don't you realise this is someone's home?”
But the response I got was a knife that began flying towards me. I let out a fearful scream and slumped to the floor, but a loud groan echoed in the air, followed by a punch. I looked up, and the masked man was finally being beaten to a pulp.
My eyes landed on the ground, and there was the knife, so I hastened and grabbed it. I reached where they were and stabbed the knife into the masked man's leg, because no doubt, he was here to attack me. I had done this several times out of self-defence, and it was no different from now.
The man groaned once again, and before I could process it, he vanished into thin air.
I stood and began darting my eyes around in search of him, panic surging through me that my attacker could come again.
What I didn't see coming was the other man wrapping his arm around my waist, causing me to shudder. I raised my face to see who it was, and it was indeed the mannerless right-hand man of the Dragon Sovereign.
His eyes were beautiful tonight. I got a closer look at his lips and how plump they were.
Did he come around to save me? Then it couldn't be that he was with his master. If he were around here watching me, then he just committed a crime by spying on my privacy.
Oh gods! I was stupid to think that someone who came to save me was committing a crime.
“Could you be doing that every day? You spy on me and protect me, then name how much you want to get as payment.” I said to him, and his brows furrowed. Was he that shocked? Could it be that his master doesn't pay him? “Look, I will pay you quite well, so tell me. Even if it means returning to my family to get enough money, I will do that because I don't want to leave….
The sound of something sharp made from above, and I was forced to look up.
To my greatest surprise, there were so many knives above my head. I couldn't count them when I tried to, and it seemed the dragon holding me was the one stopping them from digging into my head.
So scary! What did I do for someone to come after my life?
If he weren't still here with me, then all those knives would slash my brain, and survival would be out of my journal.
Fear gripped me so much, and my lips suddenly became heavy. I didn't imagine being killed this way, and it meant there were several other ways to kill me instead of them coming in person.
But I was a human and had no issue with them. If it was because of Lia, then I would apologise to them for not giving up so soon.
I felt my body hair stand from the chills that covered me.
When I looked up again to the sound I heard, the knives were now merging together, until they turned into a short sword.
The dragon grabbed it and put it into my palm, and without saying anything, let go of my waist and began leaving.
I couldn't stand it, but rushed over to him. I stopped him and whispered to him, “You could hold my waist anytime you want. But please, don't leave me here. I'm scared,” and I was indeed scared, because I felt my soul already leave my body.
