Chapter 88- Mastering
Dan's Mansion, Somewhere in Chicago.
“It is confirmed,” Samuel whispered to Dan. “Your siblings are on the next flight to Chicago.”
Dan laughed repeatedly. “I love this.” He grinned. “Let them come join the party.”
The moment he has been waiting for had come. He would enjoy unleashing the terror he had planned for them and feel no guilt. Being daggered in a coffin for 20 years made him feel more rage when it came to his siblings and the rest of the vampires who had been trying to stop him from altering the curse of the moon. All he could think now was unleashing terror on those who stood against him or his plans.
“Anything you need me to do?” Samuel inquired. His face flushed with a soft smile.
He’s gonna be free from the curse of the moon real soon and so are the rest of the werewolves around the world—they could not control their form without feeling unending pain while switching to their wolf form.
“No,” said Dan. “Let them come to us if they have the balls to.”
He still didn’t know how he did it but he had succeeded in getting Mary to be on his side. To help him alter the curse of the moon he had so much desired. In return, he promised her that no werewolf would harm her vampire father or her mother.

A few hours ago...
“Your family will be dragged into this,” he assured her. “Just help me.”
After much contemplating and pestering from Dan, her heart gave in to the pressure. She didn’t want to see Dan locked back in a coffin with a dagger in his chest. Plus, she didn’t want to see him in agony while he shifted his form.
“I will do it, but how?” she stared in confusion. “I haven’t done much before.”
“You don’t need to worry about that,” Dan answered. “I have a spell book Samuel retrieved from my witches while I was gone. It will help you.”
“Can I have this spell book?”
“Sure." He smirked.
He made his way to the shelf in his room and picked up a brown hardcover book. On the hardcover, a circle with a triangle inside of it was inscribed. “This is the book of shadows,” he said, walking back to her.
“And it contains the spell I need to set you free from this werewolf curse?”
“It contains many spells a witch or gypsy would ever desire to use,” he smirked. “Page, 34 is what you need to break the curse of the moon.”
He stretched his hand toward Mary to hand her the book of shadows. Something weird happened. Something strange that he didn’t see coming.
Immediately Mary touched the book, it thundered. Lightning flashed across the sky. This wasn’t because it wanted to rain. The Book of Shadow is very powerful in the hands of a witch, warlock, or gypsy.
The book of Shadow emits a blast, knocking Dan off his feet.
“Oh my God!” Mary cried out, tossing the book away. She quickly ran to check on Dan.”Are you all right?” Nervousness crossed her face.
Dan giggled and chuckled for a moment before opening his mouth to speak. “That’s so cool!”
“What?” she gaped at him with surprise. “Are you nuts? That almost killed you!”
“No, love. A blast can’t kill me.” he smiled broadly. “A blast can’t kill me.” His face continued to light up with warmth smile and joy.
He lets Mary pull him up. “That means the Book of Shadows is powerful as the witches had claimed.”
“So?” Mary’s eyes widened.
“It means you have unlocked its power with just a single touch.”
She stared with a confused look on her face. “Was that supposed to happen?”
“Yes,” he answered without thinking twice. He knew the power the Book of Shadow possessed. He never cared about the outcome and was ready for its power to be unleashed on contact with a gypsy.
Mary’s face saddened. “What?” She couldn’t believe Dan knew he would get blasted away but never said anything.
“Don’t worry, it won’t happen again. It only happens once when…”
“I am here to help you not to harm you!” Mary lashed out, interrupting Dan. “If touching that book will blast you away, then I will not touch it again.”
“No, love. Don’t say that.” He drew closer to her and wrapped his hands around her waist. “Trust me, it only happens once.”
The Book of Shadows is not a book to be handled by supernatural creatures that are not witches, warlocks, or gypsies. Any supernatural entity that touches the book first before a witch, warlock, or gypsy touches it, will be blasted away after the witch touches it.
“Are you sure?” She rolled her eyes on him. “I don’t want to see you get hurt again.”
“I am sure. And you know what? I won’t get hurt. I promise.” He puts on a charming smile. “Just go turn to page 34 and master the procedure.”
He brought his lips closer to hers and kissed her.
Her face flushed with a pretty smile that was radiant, lighting up her entire face with warmth.

Now...
When Mary had finished gathering the entire necessary ingredient to master her first spell casting, she lowered the book of shadows on the table—inside the candle circle. Dan had told her that the gypsies could only cast spells but as for her, there was a great power in her that made him connect to her from the coffin, in an underground tomb. When she tried to reconcile these words, Dan brought his face closer to her ears and whispered to her- “Unlike every other gypsy that could only cast spells, I think you are unique and will not just cast spells, but do magic like the witches.”
The candles are not yet lit. With a wave of her hand over the five candles that formed a circle on the table, flames appeared on them.
“Wow!” she marveled as her cheeks flushed with excitement. “This is cool.”
She focused her eyes on the candles and channeled her mind. The flames burned mightily beyond the normal level of a candlelight.
This increased her confidence that she could alter the curse of the moon. She breaks into a dazzling smile seeing what she’s doing with her mind and hand gesture.
“I can do this,” she said, still smiling. Her smile was so bright that it lightened up her entire face.
When she started playing with fire, using it to form any shape of an object she pictured in her mind, she heard a harsh voice whispering close to her ears- “I told you there will be consequences if you pick sides.”
Fear gripped her. She flicked around to see who it was but saw no one. She did recognize the voice. Before she could open her mouth to issue a quick query, the door of the closet started slamming repeatedly. The candles went off as a harsh wind howled toward her. The lights in the room started flickering.
