WHO PLANTED THE BOMB?

WHO PLANTED THE BOMB?
Alonso

The belief I have for miracle is two percent out of a hundred.
Apparently it’s that little. When life has hit you with disturbing facts and more disturbing proven facts, you are bound to take everything out of it with a grain of salt.
Since I have watched Rosalia from afar, she has seemed like that person by which no sadness could touch, no amount of hurt could taint. There was not a bad thing I could attach to her person.
So imagine my surprise when I get to find out that when she is a high state of fear, there is a great chance for her to treat anyone and everyone how she deems at that moment. And she does so remorselessly, executing that act beautifully.
I was more intrigued, the want, need, consuming and urgent desire to know everything- tiny or huge about her.
On second thought, I wouldn’t want it to be so urgent, I want to consume everything that is her gradually.
As she made her way to the elevator while those nurses were trying to get my attention, I had not expected it would take that measure of time to get her back to the sweet Rosalia everyone knows.
“I am Rosalia Aldo and you are?” She asked, one beautifully manicured hand stretched toward me.
A smile touched my lips. But as I stretched my hand back to her, ready to open my lips and tell her the truth of my name, I realized that would be fatal. I couldn’t tell her my real name.
This thing that I have for her, this thing that I feel, it’s dangerous. I’m aware there are constant eyes always on each and every top member of our mafia family and sadly that includes me. The moment my interest in her slips into public knowledge- and by such knowledge, I mean just the inclusion of one or two persons, the wrong ears.
If a whiff of what Rosalia could be to me should get to these ears, I could potentially and actively put her in the way of danger. And that’s something that cannot be risked, something I cannot gamble with.
And so I chose to tell her the abbreviated form of my name.
“Al. You can call me Al.” I said as I held her hand in a firm shake.
“Pardon my incessant teasing, I also needed something to take my mind from the fact that my boss could have died.” I said.
“Your boss?” She asked, retrieving her hand and leaning on the other wall of the elevator.
I immediately saw my mistake, one I would need to watch if I want to draw this out for as long as Don Dante would have me do so.
“He is in charge of the security company that works for Jacob Bianchi. His rank is higher than mine and so I refer to him as my boss.”
She nods in understanding and in that moment, the elevator stops. As the doors part, we both step out of it.
“So…. Now that we are out from that shock, do you want to grab coffee with me before you go to your hotel?” I asked. “That would be a welcomed idea.” She replied with that small smile that caused a twinge in my heart- a delicious kind of twinge.
While we grabbed coffee and strolled toward the hotel she was going to book, we discussed randomly and not for once was our discussion uncomfortable. Things that ranged from the pet dogs and cats that pedestrians strolled with, the shops displaying various colourful wares, weird hairstyles worn stylishly by diverse persons and the great taste of fashion and style every single person seemed to have. When we got to the gate of where she was aiming for, I think she was still surprised when I followed her toward the reception.
Even when she began to speak with the receptionist, I still didn’t offer to leave her side. Courtesy would demand that I let her be, even though she hasn’t hinted at me leaving her alone but this is a different country and I doubt she knows her way around .
One look at her and the wrong person will be able to tell that this is her first time here and could equally use that as an opportunity to try to take advantage of her. I do not think they will succeed because added to Rosalia’s sweetness, she is also a very intelligent woman.
But I’m not leaving anything in the hands of fate… sue me. I even offered to pay for the room she was going to stay in, just like the coffee we had drunk, but she swatted my hand away and slid her card to the woman before us.
When she was done, I was expecting her to give me the goodbye speech, but gratefully she wanted to return to the hospital. It was a good thing the hospital was in trekkable distance to the hotel.
“Do you think they would have been done? I don’t want to interrupt what they could be discussing about,  hence, this walk about which I have participated in. But it’s time for Viviana to rest and also for Massimo.” She pointed.
“True. They will be discharged in two days and it’s expected that they get their strength up within this period.” I commented.

But when we got back to the room where we had left the both of them, we were surprised by what greeted our eyes. First Don Dante had a finger across his lips, a motion to caution us, to warn us not to make any peeping noise.
Viviana had drawn closer to the bed on her wheelchair and somehow she had fallen asleep, head on his body, body still on her wheelchair. And Don Dante was grazing the wild tendrils of her hair that had fallen from her face, and he was doing so unashamedly. I believe if not because of his injured hand and the need not to stir her in any way from her sleep, he would have tried to carry her to his bed, despite the express orders from the doctors not to participate in anything stressful. As long as it involved Viviana, proper reasonability just seemed to constantly elude him- something I would never say out loud. Thank you, but I still love my head where it is.
I hope Don Dante doesn’t come off as a pervert to Rosalia.
I looked at Rosalia but it was almost like she didn’t care, she even had a small smile on.
“Thanks for watching over her, Massimo.
She was the one that insisted on coming, insisting that she was stronger than the time of the attack. I think she over estimated her strength reservoir.
I’ll be taking her now so she can be more comfortable.”
There was a touch of sadness or was it anger? It was in Don Dante’s eyes as Rosalia lovingly patted Viviana’s shoulder and stirred her awake. I know he wanted to spend more time with her.
As they went away with a promise of returning and having breakfast together, Don Dante’s scowl deepened. Despite the mask, I could tell that. And immediately they were out of earshot, his eyes immediately fell on me.
“Have you found out who planted the bomb?” he asked.
