Chapter 60

Chapter 60

The paper showed the transaction about the family that Freya had discussed with Alberto before.

Clearly, Killian already knew about this.

But these things were printed out, and Freya hadn't heard any news about it.

Freya quickly said, "What's going on?"

"You have the nerve to ask me? This is what I received! You met with Alberto privately and had this kind of exchange?"

"Do you know what thirty percent of the shares means? If this deal actually goes through, you'll become a sinner to the entire family, and now you're acting like nothing happened, asking me back?" As Killian spoke, he suddenly slammed the table and stood up, walking step by step toward Freya. "How could I have raised such a foolish daughter like you? Don't you know what a huge humiliation this is for our family!"

Freya trembled all over.

Sensing Killian's rage, she didn't dare respond. All she could think was that if it weren't for me, Killian wouldn't know any of this at all!

Because of this, Freya immediately thought of a way to handle it.

She said to Killian, trembling, "No, you have to believe me. I never made any deal with Alberto! We did meet, but after the last family meeting, I deeply understood that contacting others couldn't improve our situation, so I never thought about continuing to contact him!"

Freya grabbed the paper in her hand. "All of this must be because after I forged the evidence, Elvira deliberately released it to target me! Do you really think someone like her wouldn't make some counterattack regarding public opinion?"

Freya grabbed Killian's hand, trembling. "Dad, you shouldn't doubt me. If you do, Elvira's goal will be achieved! She wants us to fall into internal conflict, so she can target us better!"

Hearing Freya's words, a trace of hesitation crossed Killian's face.

Thinking about everything I had done during this time, he suddenly began to wonder if all of this was my conspiracy.

But if that were true, why would I go to such lengths to fabricate things about Freya and Alberto?

Freya sensed Killian's hesitation and knew her words had made him waver somewhat, so she insisted that I had forged this matter.

"I swear that when I met with Alberto, it was really just to ask if he knew Elvira's movements. I also wanted to help you deal with him. In this family, I want to help you do something too." As she spoke, Freya cried bitterly. "Are you going to doubt me now because of an adopted daughter? Dad, I've been helping you all this time. I listen to whatever you say. Isn't that enough to prove my loyalty to you?"

As she cried, she even pulled Killian's hand up to press against her face, trying to awaken that father-daughter bond.

Killian looked at the daughter before him. The wavering from before had disappeared, replaced by half-belief and half-doubt.

He stared at Freya for a long time, then shook off her hand and said, "I don't quite believe what you're saying, but I'll be watching you from now on, so if you meet with Alberto again, I'll know the truth."

Freya was driven out of the study by Killian.

At the study door, she steadied herself, covered her chest with both hands, and gasped for breath.

Actually, when she signed that agreement with Alberto, she didn't know that everything would become so complicated, especially without having dealt with me yet.

But things were already beyond repair.

At the same time, Killian decided to hold off for now.

Whether it was Freya or me, he didn't trust either of us. He only trusted profit.

By the time I learned about Killian and Freya's argument, it was already two days later.

Sebastian reported the company's situation to me every day, and on this day, it was because Freya came to the company with swollen eyes to get documents for Killian, and when Sebastian followed her, he heard Freya on the phone complaining to someone.

"Just don't know if the person on the other end of the phone was Alberto or some other man."

Hearing him say this, I frowned. "Are there any other useful clues? Freya and Killian's arguing was within my expectations, because I was the one who sent them that information."

"There are no other clues for now. But I know that the two of them will definitely continue arguing."

Once the seed of doubt was planted in one's heart, it would keep growing.

This was a point I always understood, and also the reason I chose to send that record to Killian.

"Elvira." Sebastian hesitated for a moment, as if he had something to say to me.

I replied without hesitation, "If you have something to say to me, say it now."

"I just want to know, what benefit does sending that record to Killian have for you? Your current approach will undoubtedly make the father and daughter stand on the same front."

No matter what, Killian was Freya's biological father.

He would choose to stand on her side.

This was Sebastian's thinking, but I smiled and denied his statement. "You're wrong. For Killian, what's always important is profit. He won't just believe Freya's words."

I had lived beside them for so many years and knew their personalities and ways of doing things inside out.

After ending the conversation with Sebastian, I rubbed my temples and planned to go check on Virio's room.

Today I found a new doctor for Virio.

I always felt there had to be a better solution for Virio's condition.

The new doctor told me that Virio's recovery was indeed going well, and with proper care going forward, he might recover soon.

Pretty much the same as what the previous doctor said.

Perhaps this was really all we could do for now.

But I really hoped he would wake up.

That evening, I stayed by Virio's bedside.

"What method will it take to bring you back?" Holding Virio's hand, I said softly.

"Can you tell me what I should do to save you? You've been in a coma for so long. So many things have happened these past few days, and I've been trying to deal with the impact this has had on me." As I spoke, I couldn't help but cry.

Just then, the hospital room door was pushed open.

A nurse came in carrying a tray, looking like she was going to change Virio's medication.

But when she walked in and saw me, she was clearly startled.

I met her gaze and also felt something was wrong.

This nurse seemed to be new.

Before she walked toward Virio's bed, I stopped her, "Stop right there."

The person indeed did as I said and obediently stopped.

"Are you a new nurse?"
