Chapter 8

I was still quite scared about that scene with those people dead because of my fault. I knew Morgan was a cruel man, but I had never witnessed something that affected me so much. On the way to his house, I couldn't stop crying, not to mention the way he treated Fabian. As if everything I was going through wasn't enough, Jack and Daniel agreed to leave me with Morgan, fearing something might happen to me after the hospital incident. I felt suffocated.

"Can I come in?"

"Enter; the house is yours."

"It's not my house; it's our house. The sooner you accept that, the better."

"I will never accept being told what to do, you understand? You can keep me here for years, but I'll never love you. You're a monster."

Morgan grabs me by the arms and shakes me rapidly. Tears fall from my eyes, and I have a severe anxiety attack. I see Morgan looking downcast, unsure of what to do.

"I'm so sorry," he says, hugging me tightly.

"I just want to go away," I say, crying.

"Don't you understand that I can't simply cast you out of my life?"

"And why is that?"

Before Morgan could respond, we heard loud gunshots. His house, which seemed like an impregnable fortress, had been invaded. Loud noises and gunfire intensify. It was the last thing I heard before Morgan told me to run and hide. Suddenly, everything turned black, and I felt someone putting a cloth over my mouth, and then I passed out.

"They took Laura," Nate says, not knowing what to do.

"How could this happen?" he asks angrily while breaking a bottle.

"I don't know; the house was heavily guarded."

"A bunch of useless idiots. If anything happens to her, they'll all die. Am I clear? "Greet everyone and find Laura, even if you have to turn the earth upside down."

"Crystal clear. I'll gather everyone; we'll find her. You know you can count on me for anything, right?"

"I know I can count on you, and I'm just desperate. I know what my enemies are capable of, especially with Laura's strong character. I'm afraid they might hurt her."

"None of that will happen; we'll find her."

Nate leaves to gather as many men as possible to find Laura.

"Where is my sister?"

"They are already looking for her; everything is under control, Jack."

"Under control? What if they are some of our rivals and they do something to her? She's a woman; you know they could dishonor her," he says, concerned.

"Shut up! Never, in your life, repeat that again, understood? Anyone who dares to touch or even look at your sister won't breathe or live, am I clear?" he says, tightening Jack's neck.

"Calm down! She's my sister, blood of my blood; I have every right to be worried about her."

"I know, just don't say that again. By the way, how did you find out she was taken?" he asks, intrigued.

"I received this anonymous note and came here," he says, showing him the note.

"This is Niklaus's handwriting; what the hell does he think he's doing? This damn fool signed his death warrant. Let's go; I know where he might have taken her."

I arrived just as Niklaus was trying to harm Laura. My blood boiled when I saw that bastard on top of her. If I had arrived a little later, God knows what he would have done to her. If he had touched her, I would never forgive myself.

"Are you okay, my love? Did he touch you?" he asks worriedly.

"Thank God you found me. He hit me and tried to take advantage of me," she cries uncontrollably.

"Jack, take your sister out of here; take her home. I have some things to settle."

"This damn guy tried to touch my sister; I'll stay and ask others to come to get her."

"I told you to take her; I'll deal with Niklaus alone. Take her now!"

"Please, Jack, let's go," Laura cries.

"Alright, let's go, but don't you dare leave this bastard alive," he whispers in his ear.

"You don't know what I'm capable of when someone touches what's mine," he says, clenching his jaw.

If there was something Morgan loved more than anything else in his life, it was Laura. Niklaus learned that that night. Morgan cut his fingers one by one, burned the palms of his hands, and beat him several times until he lost consciousness. Every time he woke up, the torture got worse.

"Do you think you're God, Morgan?" Niklaus says, trembling in pain.

"Respectfully, I refuse to answer because I believe my response could incriminate me. You are dead, my dear friend. You are dead. Likewise, you won't make it to the end of the street if you're still walking," he says, smiling.

"You think you're righteous enough? You abandoned my sister, your fiancée, because of a sick obsession with this woman. Even if you kill me here and now, it won't end, and you know it. Others will come to avenge my sister. She will never let you be happy at the expense of her suffering," he says, laughing at the situation.

"Don't let your tongue be your worst enemy. Never open your mouth unless you're in the dentist's chair. Do you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to take a knife and cut your tongue, send it to your family, and wage war to make peace."

"Man is the hardest animal to eliminate. If he escapes, he will come back to kill you. And if he doesn't come back, someone else will," he says in his final breath after Morgan cuts his wrists.

One hour later, at Morgan's house...

"How are you, Laura?"

"Let's go outside to talk," Jack says.

"You didn't do that," she says, staring at me.

"Of course I did. Everyone looks at what's mine," I say.

"You must be joking," she says.

"I wouldn't joke about something like this. I never killed anyone who didn't deserve to die, and you know that well."

"You're crazy," she says, distancing herself from me.

"For you," I say, approaching her.

"Leave me alone, Morgan," she says, trying to move away, but I bring her closer to me.

"I can't let you go; don't you understand? You are the love of my life. It's as if I'm drowning in darkness, and you save me. I'm in love with you. I've always been in love with you, and I always will be," I say, looking into her eyes.

"You are my everything, Laura. Being by your side is the only place in the world where I feel alive. You will always be the love of my life."

Jack left us alone, and my lips found hers. As insane as it may seem, my love for Laura is the most real thing I've ever experienced in my life.
