Chapter 7
I was on a mission with Nate and our men, and we were going to attack the Bratva mafia base in El Salvador. Those damn bastards attacked some of our people, even though they don't stand a chance against us. But you don't let an enemy live, no matter how small; they must be destroyed. I take a deep breath, trying to keep calm. I've been agitated ever since the day I allowed Laura to be attacked in the hospital. Likewise, I've been tormented by remorse because I know it's all my fault; it was my obsession with her that made me go against everything and everyone.
Nate and I have been friends since childhood, always together in everything. But when it comes to Laura, she is and will always be my priority. I would kill anyone who threatened her or touched her. My feelings for Laura are so strong that I can't think or reason when it comes to her. That damned woman is a sorceress who enchanted me the first time I saw her 15 years ago, when she was still an innocent girl. Our eyes met, and at that moment, I felt that she was what I had been searching for—a connection from past lives. I knew she was mine, and I was hers.
Since that moment, I decided she would be mine, and I've kept her that way all these years, eliminating everything and everyone who looked at her with ill intentions, especially those who dared to touch her. Like that lousy professor who dared to lay hands on my princess. I sent people to watch over her day and night, and one of the women I assigned to guard her informed me about the professor. I immediately went to London, tortured him for hours, tore off his hands for touching Laura, and killed him. Likewise, I must admit I enjoyed it very much. I did the same with the kid who tried to kiss her and with anyone else I perceived had her attention—men, women, friends, anyone.
Laura is only mine, and her attention belongs only to me and no one else. I snap out of my thoughts when Nate calls me.
"Can I come in?"
"Yes, come in."
"Morgan, I'm sorry about our disagreement earlier today. I'm just genuinely concerned about you. I know you want Laura, but you're not only putting the business at risk but also your life and hers. Not to mention our friendship, which seems like something you don't care about."
"Don't talk nonsense; you're like a brother to me. I just can't organize my thoughts when it comes to Laura. It's not just that I want her for myself, I've never wanted anything in life as much as I want her. I don't know what makes her different from others; all I know is that I really care about her, and I have to try to protect her."
"You're in love, and you're not thinking rationally. If you really want to protect Laura, tell her about Loren. She deserves to know."
"You're right; I'll tell her."
Suddenly, we're interrupted by a message.
"Laura managed to evade our security and left with her friend."
"What the hell! I'm trying to protect her, and she's driving me crazy!"
"I've already ordered them to look for her."
"Thank you, Nate. I'll go to her brother's house; she might go back there."
Minutes later, I'm informed that they've located her and her friend. We head to the jet and fly to Dallas. Every hour, my men update me on their location. They went to a clothing store, an ice cream shop, and a bar. I ask for pictures.
A few minutes later, I receive some videos of Laura playing pool with her friend, drinking, and smiling, appearing joyful. Anger rises within me as I watch her dressed in that outfit and dancing and singing in that damn bar, drawing attention to herself. My blood boils with rage at the thought of others looking at what is mine. But she'll wait and see; she thinks I'll just let her go.
I grab my phone and call one of my henchmen, who found her.
"I want you to take Laura and her friend out of there, by force if necessary, and kill everyone."
"Everyone, DOM?"
He asks, shocked.
"You heard me right, everyone. Leave no one alive."
"Yes, boss."
"Send me their location."
"Yes, boss."
"Let me know when it's done."
No one looks at my woman and lives.
Laura was rebellious. If it were someone else, I'd just beat them up, and that's it. But with her, I can't even bear the thought of her suffering. I've tried, but I can't hurt her. She easily dominates me, and I've tried to fight against it, but it's stronger than I.
As soon as I get off the jet, I head to Alaric's nightclub; I had a feeling she would come here. When I arrive, Laura and her friend are there too. Those idiots let them witness some men being killed in the club, which made her hate me even more.
"You can't go around killing people just because they're near me. What's wrong with you?" she says, looking at me with her swollen blue eyes from crying.
"You weren't supposed to see any of that. It's their fault," I say, furious.
"Ah, it's their fault? You're the one ordering innocent people to be killed just because they're near me. People who probably have wives and children waiting for them."
"I don't care about anyone except you."
"You're sick. Stay away from my friend," Fabian says angrily.
"Who do you think you are to talk to me like that? I'm DOM Morgan, and you're not the one to talk to me that way. Take her away, get her out of my sight, or I won't be responsible for what I do. And you, Laura, come with me. Enough of your games."
"Let her go!" Fabian shouts.
"Tell them to release her right now, or I won't go anywhere with you. If anything happens to her, I'll never forgive you," I say, crying.
"Let her go; take her to Owen's house."
"Be careful, my friend, please. I love you; call me later," Fabian says.
"I love you too. I'll call you."
"Let's go, Laura."
"I'll go because you left me no choice, but know that I'll never be yours. Do you understand me? What I feel for you is hatred and disgust," I say, crying and desperate.
Morgan sees my distress; I'm crying so much, still in shock from witnessing those men being killed. He sees the fear in my eyes, and the last thing he wants is to see me like this. The strong woman I used to be is completely broken.
