Chapter 50: The Largest Shareholder
"James! Caroline! I won't let you get away with this! I swear I'll get my revenge!"
Daryl chimed in, his eyes full of venom.
"Right! We have to get revenge! We can't just let them push us around like this!"
Just then, Landon's call came through. Gilbert took a deep breath, answered the phone, and tried to keep his voice calm.
"Dad, we're back."
Hearing his voice, Landon quickly asked.
"Gilbert, are you okay? Did James really let you go? Did you get hurt or anything?"
Thinking about the humiliation he'd just endured, Gilbert couldn't hold back his tears. His voice was full of grievance and anger.
"Dad, we're fine, but James went too far! He made us walk from the company entrance to the office wearing nothing but our underwear. All the employees saw us. We've been completely humiliated!"
Landon exploded when he heard this, shaking with rage as he shouted into the phone.
"That bastard James! Didn't he say he'd let you go? How could he humiliate you like this! I'm calling James right now to confront him!"
With that, Landon hung up on Gilbert and dialed James's number, his voice full of anger.
"James! You've gone too far! I already agreed to transfer the shares to Caroline. Why did you still humiliate Gilbert and Daryl like that? Didn't you say you'd let them go?"
On the other end, James's tone remained cold, even carrying a hint of mockery.
"I did let them go. They're back at the office, aren't they? I never said that letting them go meant I couldn't teach them a lesson."
Landon was left speechless. After a long pause, he realized James had done this on purpose! But he didn't dare argue back. He could only grit his teeth, his voice full of frustration.
"James, you... you're deliberately making things difficult for us!"
"Making things difficult for you?"
James scoffed.
"I'm just making them pay a small price for what they did. If they dare to bully Caroline again next time, it won't be just simple humiliation. I'll make the Collins family completely disappear from Silvermoon City, just like the Harris family."
Landon's heart went cold, and he immediately fell silent.
He knew James meant what he said. If he said one more word, it would only put the Collins family in even greater danger.
He could only forcibly suppress his anger, his voice taking on a pleading tone.
"Mr. Anderson, I know I was wrong. We won't dare do it again. Please don't make things difficult for the Collins family anymore."
"Then keep your people in line."
James's tone didn't soften at all.
"If I hear that Gilbert and Daryl have bullied Caroline again, you'll face the consequences."
With that, James hung up directly, leaving Landon standing there alone, shaking with rage but completely helpless.
His hatred for James grew deeper, but he didn't dare resist.
He could only take out all his resentment on Caroline, feeling that it was Caroline, that ungrateful wretch, who had ruined the Collins family.
The Collins family dinner never happened.
After the share transfer procedures were completed, James left The Collins Villa with Caroline.
He didn't say another word to Landon and the others the entire time.
Back home, Caroline leaned against James, saying wearily.
"James, it's finally over. I never want to go back to the Collins family again."
"Okay, we won't go back anymore."
James stroked her hair, his tone gentle.
"From now on, with me here, I won't let you suffer any grievance, and I won't let the Collins family people disturb your life anymore."
Caroline nodded, leaning against James and slowly closing her eyes.
The next morning, Caroline went to work at the Collins Group on time.
As soon as she walked into the company lobby, all the employees' eyes fell on her in unison, full of awe.
No one dared to gossip about her like before, and no one dared to slight her.
After all, Caroline was now the company's largest shareholder, holding seventy percent of the shares.
And she was James's woman. Everyone had witnessed James's methods, so no one dared to offend her.
Caroline was already used to this. She walked expressionlessly into the elevator, heading straight to her office.
Along the way, the employees she encountered all greeted her, their tones full of flattery. She just nodded lightly without any extra expression.
As soon as she entered her office, she saw Daryl sitting on her desk, his face gloomy, his eyes full of venom, staring at her intently.
Caroline frowned, her tone cold.
"Daryl, who told you to sit on my desk? Get down now."
Daryl snorted and slowly got down from the desk, his tone full of mockery and hatred.
"Caroline, are you pleased with yourself now? Using James to take the Collins Group shares and making my dad and me suffer public humiliation - are you happy?"
Caroline looked at him, her eyes showing no emotion.
"I'm not pleased with myself. All of this is your own doing. If you hadn't bullied me, hadn't slandered me, you wouldn't be in this situation today. Also, these shares were voluntarily transferred to me by Grandpa. It has nothing to do with James."
"Voluntarily?"
Daryl scoffed.
"You think I'll believe that? If James hadn't pressured him, how could Grandpa have been willing to transfer twenty percent of the shares to you?"
"Caroline, you're just an ungrateful bitch, using outsiders to bully your own family. You'll get what's coming to you sooner or later!"
Caroline's heart went cold, and her tone became stern.
"Whether I'm ungrateful or not, I know myself."
"Also, I'm warning you, don't cause trouble for me anymore. Otherwise, James won't let you off, and neither will I."
Daryl's heart went cold. He knew Caroline was telling the truth.
Now that James was protecting Caroline, he was no match for her at all. No matter how much he hated her, he could only hold it in.
He gritted his teeth, glared fiercely at Caroline, turned and left. When he reached the door, he said viciously.
"Caroline, you just wait. I'll definitely get my revenge!"
Caroline watched his retreating figure and sighed helplessly.
She knew Daryl wouldn't let this go, but she wasn't afraid. With James by her side, she had nothing to fear.
Before long, Gilbert walked into Caroline's office, his face equally gloomy, his eyes full of unwillingness and anger.
"Caroline, are you satisfied now? Taking the Collins Group shares and humiliating Daryl and me in front of everyone - do you feel powerful?"
Gilbert's tone was full of fury. He wanted nothing more than to rush up and beat Caroline, but he didn't dare. He could only forcibly hold back.
Caroline looked up at him, her tone flat.
"Uncle Gilbert, I don't want to argue with you. The shares were voluntarily transferred to me by Grandpa. I didn't force him. Also, the humiliation you and Daryl suffered was your own doing. If you hadn't bullied me, you wouldn't be in this situation today."
