Chapter 95 95

Chapter 95 95
ADELINE
“Who do you think you are, bitch?!” We’d barely made it more than three steps from Grayson’s room before her mask fell right off like a stack of poorly arranged cards. She shoved me to the wall before I could think of reacting any other way. My back crashed against the hard surface with a worrying crunch. Pain shot from my right shoulder and spread like a virus down the length of my arm.
It’s always when you decide to change your spots that the universe decides to test you. Breathing was a chore, patience was impossible. I forced what little air agreed peace was the route to go, and the next time I faced her, the annoyance on her face ease some, shock coated her face for a second before she shoved it out barely a second later.
“I’m Adeline.” The words were like metal on metal, unbearable to my ears, but the last thing I wanted was to start a war with Scarlett, especially with how she crazed out last time. I happen to like my face very much.
I pushed off the wall, ignoring the sharp stab that shot through my arm the moment I pushed it out to balance my weight. She was not going to affect me.
“I should go make that icecream.” I forced a smile, feeling like throwing up already and not because I was nauseous either.
“I’m not done talking to you.” Her hand circled my wrist in a very tight grip, her glare venomous as she eyed me from the top of my head to the sole of my feet, pulled her lips back like I was beneath her. In her dreams perhaps. The only advantage she had over me was she had a few more millions of dollars than I did, but her presence her, hassling a common nobody like me, was starting to tell another story.
“Well,” I grabbed her wrist, returning the favour, I tightened my grip till she winced, her eyes flared, in fear? Shock? I’d take both. “I’m done here,” I yanked her hand off my wrist and shoved it back at her. “Mrs Archer.” Like acid shoved down my throat, soreness spread on my tongue. It was for her benefit, for her to jump to assumptions like me giving up.
Her eyes narrowed at me, suspicion clear in her voice as she spoke, “I see you finally realized your place.” She smirked, her shoulders rose, but all of it was a facade because her voice broke like she was worried I was going to throw a punch at her too perfect face. Well, I just might, who knows. She had two seconds to let me go or I might as well be Picasso with the plans I had for her face.
“Yes. Now, can I go do what you insisted was so urgent.” I tried, I really did, but the snark in my tone made it out regardless.
She eyed me like she was actually going to push me over the edge. I’d like to say I’d rather not but to be honest, I wanted her to. Atleast I would have an excuse for why I decided to do to her face what poorly trained felines do to curtains.
“Be quick and keep him busy too. I’m tired of dealing with it.” ‘It’ being the son she pushed out of her own womb. Well, doesn’t she deserve the award for ‘best mother of the year’.
I plastered a smile on my face and left her to talk to whatever imaginary servant she was speaking to, because it sure as hell couldn’t be me she was addressing like some maid she employed.
It’s all for Johnny, think about Johnny. I chanted in my head like a song for my soul.
The living room was empty, the tv turned off and there was absolutely no sign of Johnny, almost like he was never even in the room to begin with. For her sake, I really hope she wasn’t just messing with me.
“Where’s Johnny?” I swung over and the witch from hell was smirking at me like she just discovered the rarest diamond and was being awarded for it.
“In his room. You can pick a thing or two from him instead of sneaking into another woman’s husband room.” Oh for fuck’s sake! This is why people become serial killers, this is exactly why!
“I mean I know you’re desperate and all but atleast have a bit of dece-”
Those words never made it out of her lips because there were too busy trying to spit out the large cup of water I chugged in her face, lemon underneath and all.
“Bitch!” She shrieked loud enough to peel the skin from my ears. She charged at me, her steps wobbly, her hands swiped at her eyes repeatedly trying to clear off something that wasn’t there.
“I hope that lemon stings as much as your presence is unwanted in this house!” I screamed right back. Fuck her! Fuck it all! “Maybe you’d learn a thing or two today too!” I was going crazy, but there was no stopping it. My blood boiled, my anger rose to worrying heights because who the fuck gave her the right to speak to me. Rich or not. Married to Grayson or not, she had absolutely no right! Caution be damned!
Grayson should have put a leash on his dog the moment she walked through that door claiming to still be his wife. Well, if he was too careful to do so, I was extremely glad to do him yet another favour, teach the lying, conniving, gold digging tramp a lesson she would never forget even in a fucking coma.
“You’re going to pay for th-” Once again, I didn’t let her finish. I tipped the glass over, dumping the last of its content all over her hair.
Her fight or flight button was definitely broken because instead of retaliating or even trying to minimize the damage to herself, she just stood there, eyes wide, mouth agape like it was reflex for her. Yeah, and I’m the slut?
“Next time, if you’re craving a power high, go to a mall and flaunt your black card or something, but do not,” I paused, my index finger pointed at her to emphasize the point. “I repeat, do not under any circumstances think you can play that with me.” I hissed, meeting her glare head on because she could not do nothing. She wanted so badly to belong to the Archer family, well I would treat her just like one of them. “I have somewhere important to be and that.” Not like it was any of her business.
“You can’t just leave like that.” I didn’t wait for her to finish giving advice she wasn’t asked for before I slammed the living room door and shut her in the house for
what I could only hope was a couple of hours.
