Chapter 90 90

Chapter 90 90
GRAYSON
“Baby, why did you dump me at the hospital? I needed you by my side.” She whined, shaking my arm like a freaking toddler. I stilled, it was all I could do not to peel her thieving fingers off my arm and telling her to shut her lying, cock sucking mouth up.
Patters. Rhythmic patters of water meeting earth, quickly followed by nerve wracking thunder. The downpour wasn’t sudden, but just like Scarlett’s invasion of our lives, it was sudden. It was a welcomed surprise however, much unlike Scarlett’s hand that wouldn’t stop running up and down my arm.
“I had an emergency.” I tried to keep the strain out of my voice, but even with the furious sounds from the sky masking my irritation, she wasn’t totally tone deaf, yet.
“An emergency for two days?!” She shrieked and I could feel it pierce my very skull. Her presence in itself was already a pain, but atleast she never really had time for all of that extra, guess it was due to the fact that she didn’t need a lot to get me to cough out half my fortune then.
“I don’t owe you an explanation, Scarlett.” I scoffed and peeled her fingers off of my arm. I might have an end goal, but there is only so much a man can tolerate.
“Adeline was in the car. You weren’t too busy to pick her up.” She argued in a horrible baby voice, wrapped her slender arms around her very generous frontside and huffed, like a gave two flying fucks if she was sad or annoyed. She sounded like a wounded banshee and the downpour in the background didn’t help cancel that narrative either.
Sometimes I wished I could go back in time to give old me a proper whipping because how in the hell had I been blind to just how annoying she could be. She was nothing compared to Adeline. Adeline was the definition of grace, and even if she didn’t grow up in the kind of wealth Scarlett and I did, she was also the definition of class.
Scarlett on the other hand was the opposite. A gold digging tramp who nagged and acted worst that a freaking toddler who has had her favourite toy taken away. Oh and of course, a lying wench who didn’t give two shits about anyone but herself.
“Adeline is my wife. The sooner you learn to accept that, the better for us all.” I dragged, exhausted and just trying to get away from her as soon as I could, but it would seem she had a lot of time on her hands.
The smile on her face dropped so fast, I almost assumed I had imagined it to begin with. A scowl marred her surgically enhanced face, or as much of a scowl as she could muster with all that botox plastered all over her face.
“You’re still married to me. She cannot be your wife!” She hissed, all niceties gone like they never existed. Now, there it was. The real Scarlett, the one that hated me so much she couldn’t stand to be in the same room with me the entire year before we eventually got divorced, or I thought we did.
I swung on her, startled. she jumped backwards, barely missing stomping on her second feet with the first by a few inches, “Tell me one thing, Scarlett. Are we supposed to still be married? When I sent you half,” I sucked in a harsh breath, memories of how I toiled and worked sleepless nights to get the company back in the top running, they all came rushing back at full force. I fisted my my hands by my side, “When I sent you half of all I owned, did you hold up your end of our deal or did you choose to do what Scarlett does best, screw every one over?!”
“I-I…”
“Answer me!” I snapped when she still stuttered. She was all bravado and accusations barely a second ago. I was done with her bullshit and if I could end it, this charade, I fucking would.
Her eyes were wide with…Fear? Shock? Whatever it was, she shut her mouth so it was definitely a win in my book.
“That’s what I thought. Now, please stop wasting our time and energy. Just sign the divorce papers and we’d be done with it.” I grunted, unfazed by the way her eyes softened as I push the door open and stepped out of the car and away from her.
It was like having a taste of fresh air after being locked in the janitor’s closet for two weeks. A door slammed behind me and I didn’t need to look behind me to know who it was. Doesn’t she get tired?!
You would think that after a day or two of being ignored, she would find her way back to the ditch she had crawled out of before finishing the little she could scam out of me before.
No, not even close, if anything, it gave her more audacity. ”Wait! I want to come with, my leg still hurts.” She whined, making extra effort to limp. The cut had been on her arm last I checked, but pointing that out meant giving her the attention she was asking for.
“Grayson, it’s hard to walk thanks to that wench and you won’t do anything?!” Oh for heavens sake! Was she on steroids? Molly? Whatever jot was, her supplier needs to cut her right off, no debt allowed, maybe, just maybe, she would be once again know what it meant to be normal and speak like a human who wasn’t training to be a banshee because why did she have to be so loud?!
The hallway was empty and all I wanted to do in that moment was slam the door on Scarlett and run to Adeline’s room for some much needed comfort after the whole crazy that was my pretending to be in love or at the very least, civil.
“Grayson, I need some help.” She hopped on one leg over the o
ther and it was everything thing I could.
