Chapter 42 Mom is Bullying Me!
Daisy took a deep breath, barely holding back her anger.
She knew her daughter was spoiled, but she didn't expect it to be this bad.
Sophie just said she wanted to take a look, and Luna rushed out to push her, saying such hurtful things.
And Daisy really couldn't understand - Luna clearly liked Sophie at first, even took the initiative to be friends with her and let her play with her tablet. How did she suddenly become so petty?
Daisy tried to be patient and reason with her daughter.
"Luna, Sophie wasn't trying to take your bear. She just asked if I could take it out for her to see."
"You were in your room and had no idea what happened. You came out and pushed her, and said those things. Do you think that's right?"
Luna felt a bit guilty from her words, but still stubbornly said, "Well... well, she still shouldn't look at my bear! It's mine!"
"No one said it wasn't yours." Daisy's tone remained gentle, but her eyes showed more sternness. "But you pushed her, which was wrong. And Sophie's parents aren't around. What you said just now would really hurt her feelings."
Luna couldn't argue with Daisy, but kept thinking, She's trying to steal my mom from me, I want to make her feel bad!
Sophie stood to the side, looking at Daisy, then at Luna, and said quietly, "A-Auntie, it's okay, I won't look at it anymore."
"Luna, I'm sorry."
Daisy touched her head sympathetically and became stricter with Luna. "Luna, look, Sophie is two years younger than you and she's so understanding. But you? You made a mistake and don't know how to make up for it or apologize. Is this how I taught you?"
Luna got so mad she started crying and ran toward the door, only to bump right into Vincent.
Vincent had clearly just come from the hospital, still wearing regular home clothes with bandages wrapped around his head, not dressed up at all.
Seeing the situation inside, he couldn't help asking, "What's going on here?"
When Luna saw her dad, it was like seeing her savior. She immediately rushed over, buried herself in his arms, and cried out loud.
"Dad! Mom is bullying me! She's yelling at me because of someone else!"
Vincent looked down at his daughter in his arms, then at Daisy and the timid little girl standing to the side.
"You yelled at her?" His tone showed some displeasure.
Daisy briefly explained what had just happened, without exaggerating or taking sides.
After listening, Vincent was silent for a few seconds, then squatted down to hold Luna, wiped her tears, and softened his tone. "Luna, the bear is yours. If others just want to look at it and you don't want them to, you can tell Mom, but you can't push people, okay?"
Luna sobbed and said, "No, it's not about the bear."
She didn't think she was a petty child. If Sophie had asked her directly, she wouldn't mind letting her see it - she could even give it to her. She didn't lack toys anyway. Worst case, she could just ask Dad to buy another identical one.
But she couldn't explain why she was so angry, so upset. She just felt unbearably sad seeing her mom look at another child with such caring eyes.
What Sophie was taking from her wasn't the bear at all - it was Mom's unique favoritism! It was the coconut pudding Mom got up before dawn to make for her.
"Then what is it about?" Vincent asked.
"...Coconut pudding. Mom won't make me coconut pudding, " Luna said through tears.
Vincent sighed, patted his daughter's back, stood up, and said to Daisy, "Alright, she doesn't understand yet. Talking to her about this won't help. When you have time, make her some coconut pudding and she'll be fine."
Daisy found this completely unreasonable.
"Coconut pudding? You think this can be solved with a plate of coconut pudding?"
Vincent frowned, "Then what do you want? Make her apologize?"
Before Daisy could speak, Vincent continued, "She's only six years old and doesn't understand anything yet. Why are you arguing with a six-year-old?"
At that moment, Daisy felt really tired.
"Why are you arguing with a child" - this phrase again.
She couldn't help remembering last time at the Harts, when Luna said those mean things to her uncle, he didn't correct or blame her either, just said - "She's still young, why argue with her?"
Now it was the same thing again.
"Vincent, six years old isn't that young. She should know what's right and what's wrong."
Daisy's voice was calm but every word was clear. "Today she was clearly in the wrong, but she's getting away with it by making a fuss. If this continues, she'll always be like this."
"You think you're loving her? You're hurting her!"
Vincent's frown deepened, but he didn't say anything more.
Luna peeked out from her dad's arms, and hearing that he was taking her side in everything, couldn't help feeling smug. She stuck her tongue out at Daisy and made a face.
Daisy said nothing, just turned around, took Sophie's hand, and went into Sophie's room.
Luna was stunned. How could Mom... how could she just leave? Not comfort her? Not make her coconut pudding?
She looked at her dad. Vincent just sighed, patted her head comfortingly, and went to his study.
Luna stood alone in the living room, holding her bear, suddenly feeling a bit panicked.
In the room, Daisy held Sophie, gently patting her back.
"Sophie, were you scared just now?"
Sophie shook her head. "I wasn't scared. I just feel that Luna got mad at you because I came here. I don't want you to fight. Maybe you should send me back to my aunt's place."
Daisy's heart softened and she held her tighter.
She was actually thinking about Luna.
Two or three years ago, when Luna was Sophie's age, she was also very sweet and understanding. She was soft in her arms and would firmly stand by her side when Vincent ignored her and the Blacks criticized her.
But now...
As she was thinking, Vincent knocked on the door outside, then opened it and came in.
Daisy didn't speak, not knowing what to say.
Sophie spoke up first in a small voice, "Hello, Uncle."
Then she added, "Uncle, don't blame Auntie. I'm only staying here for a few days. When my mom comes back, I'll go home. Can you tell Luna that I won't steal her mom from her?"
Vincent was silent for a moment, then sighed somewhat helplessly.
"This child is really understanding. No wonder you like her." Then he added, "But no matter how much you like her, don't neglect Luna. After all, Luna is your own daughter."
Daisy couldn't help but laugh coldly to herself. She treated Luna as her own daughter, but did Luna treat her as her mom?
In Luna's heart, wasn't Vanessa the one who came first?
Luna's behavior, to put it bluntly, was because she was too spoiled. She was partly responsible for spoiling the child like this, but Vincent was even more to blame!
But she didn't say these things out loud because she didn't want to fight with Vincent.
A day later, Daisy's broken car was fixed. The vacation was over, so Daisy went back to picking up and dropping off Luna from school like before, except this time she had to add Sophie.
What a coincidence - the two were at the same school, just that Sophie was one grade below Luna.
But Luna was still sulking and refused to let Daisy take her no matter what. She only wanted the driver to take her.
Daisy didn't force her. She let her be.
