Chapter 41 Don’t Touch My Little Bear!

Chapter 41 Don’t Touch My Little Bear!

Luna thought to herself that tonight—no, all the way until tomorrow night—she wouldn't talk to Mom!

Even if Mom came over later with freshly made coconut milk cake and panna cotta to apologize, she wouldn't accept it!

But she was wrong.

Daisy just asked the nanny to go check on her, with no intention of going to comfort her herself.

Luna had been spoiled far too much, Daisy thought. She herself bore undeniable responsibility for this.

In the past, every time Luna threw a tantrum, she would chase after her to comfort her, giving in to her every whim, afraid that if Luna bottled up her anger, she might get sick.

Gradually, Luna had become like this—unable to tell right from wrong, spoiled and willful.

Let her be angry, Daisy thought. She'd cool down and understand eventually.

After playing with Sophie for a while, seeing it was getting late, she picked Sophie up and said, "It's bedtime. Let Auntie give you a bath and change you into clean clothes, okay?"

Sophie nodded.

Daisy went to run the hot water first, tested the temperature, helped Sophie out of her princess dress, and lifted her into the bathtub.

The little girl was thin and small, with hardly any flesh on her bones, her ribs clearly visible.

It broke Daisy's heart to see.

"Don't you get enough to eat at home? How did you get so thin?"

Sophie looked a bit embarrassed. "I don't really like eating meals. The food doesn't taste good. I only like snacks, but Nanny rarely gives them to me. She says too many snacks aren't good."

Daisy sighed. "Eating too many snacks isn't good, and not liking meals won't do. How about this—tomorrow Auntie will cook for you herself. Whether it's good or not, you have to eat more, okay?"

"Finish a whole bowl of rice or eat a whole steak in one sitting and Auntie will take you to the amusement park. How's that?"

"Okay! I'll eat more tomorrow!"

After the bath, she wrapped Sophie in a large towel, carried her back to the room, and pulled out a set of Luna's pajamas from the closet—washed but never worn, pink with little bunnies printed on them.

Sophie put them on. The length was just right, though they were a bit baggy.

"So pretty." Sophie held the hem and twirled in front of Daisy, her little hands touching the bunnies, her eyes sparkling.

"Auntie," she suddenly spoke up, "is this... for me?"

"Yes, it's for you."

Sophie happily jumped on the bed twice, then suddenly stopped as if remembering something.

"I'm sorry, Auntie. I shouldn't jump around on the bed."

Seeing her cautious manner, Daisy sighed and pulled her into a hug.

"It's okay. You can jump all you want on Auntie's bed!"

Looking at the little girl's happy face, Daisy couldn't help but think of Luna again.

Though Luna could be spoiled sometimes, she had grown up in an environment completely filled with love.

Vincent doted on her despite his schedule. As for herself, that went without saying, and even Vanessa spoiled her.

But Sophie—they were the same age, yet she was so sensible it was heartbreaking.

The next day, Daisy got up early to cook. Besides research and music, her biggest hobby was cooking.

Years of it had made her better than most professional chefs.

Last night, Sophie said she wanted steamed eggs, which was one of the quickest dishes to make.

She cracked two eggs into a bowl, added a bit of seasoning, poured in water, and steamed it in a pot.

Besides that, she also pan-fried steak and onsen eggs, made sandwiches and pancakes, plus a big pot of creamy mushroom soup.

When she finished, Sophie was already sitting obediently at the dining table. Seeing the spread, her eyes lit up.

"Wow, Auntie, you're amazing! It smells so good!"

Luna had gotten up too by now. She came over yawning, but when she saw the table full of food, she threw another fit.

"Why is everything stuff I don't like? Mom is so stupid! Hurry up and take all this away!"

Daisy looked at her and placed the pancakes in front of her, along with sandwiches and fried eggs.

"Luna, these are all things you like. The other dishes are what Mom made for Sophie."

Luna pushed the plate away. "I don't want this. I want coconut milk cake!"

Sophie looked over at her and gently tugged at her sleeve. "These are all really good. Auntie said kids need to eat their meals, even if they don't taste good."

Luna shouted, "I'm not a kid anymore! I'm all grown up!"

Sophie was about to say more when Daisy placed the cut steak in her bowl and said gently, "It's okay. Eat whatever you like. Don't worry about her."

Watching this scene, Luna felt really upset.

Mom hadn't made coconut milk cake for her in so long.

Actually, she knew that making coconut milk cake was very time-consuming. If Mom wanted her to have it before school, she would have to get up before dawn and stand by the stove watching the coconut milk the whole time.

But before, no matter how hard it was, as long as she wanted it, Mom would make it for her.

Now Mom wasn't making her favorites anymore. Not only that, Mom was cooking for a little girl she had just met, being so gentle and caring toward her.

She lowered her head, took a few random bites, then put down her chopsticks.

"I'm full."

Then she jumped off the chair and ran back to her room, threw herself on the bed, and lay there getting angrier the longer she thought about it.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, she pulled out her tablet from under the pillow and video-called Vanessa.

But it rang several times with no answer!

What's going on? Did even Mama Nessa not want her anymore? Luna's tears suddenly welled up.

Mama Nessa should still be at the hospital, right? She would get the family driver to take her to find Mama Nessa.

Thinking this, Luna sprang up from the bed. Just as she reached the door, she heard Sophie's voice faintly from outside.

"Auntie, that pink bear is so pretty. Can you take it out and show me?"

"Sure, is it the one holding the bouquet?"

Hearing this, Luna was so angry her hair practically stood on end.

That bear was a birthday gift Mom bought her last year! Her absolute favorite! She had always kept it in the cabinet and never even took it out to play with!

"No!"

She quickly pushed open the door and rushed over, shoving Sophie aside and snatching the bear into her arms.

"This is mine! Mom bought it for me! If you want one, tell your mom to buy you one!"

At these words, tears immediately welled up in Sophie's eyes, but she bit her lip, desperately trying not to cry out loud.

Daisy's expression darkened.

"Luna, Sophie just wanted to look at it. You can't push her. You need to apologize to Sophie."

Luna froze, then tears immediately fell.

"Why should I apologize? I didn't do anything wrong! She's the one trying to take my bear! Ever since she came, you've been playing favorites with her and don't love me anymore! You should be the ones apologizing!"
