Chapter 137 Chance Encounter
Daisy didn't want to talk more with Felix about the child. She glanced out the window and said slowly, "I'm here. Thanks for driving me back."
Felix could tell Daisy didn't want to say more, so naturally he didn't press further. He chuckled and shook his head, "What's there to thank me for? This is what I should do. Want me to walk you up?"
Daisy refused directly, "No need, I can go up myself."
Seeing Daisy's firm refusal, Felix didn't say more. Anyway, he was quite satisfied with tonight, and taking things step by step was fine too.
"Alright, take care."
"Yeah, drive safely. Let me know when you get home."
"Okay."
After Daisy got out of the car, she watched Felix drive away before going upstairs. At this moment, she had no idea that the casual lie she told tonight would bring her a little trouble later...
The next day.
The Blacks Villa.
Luna's friend Emily came to her house with her mom to play. The two little ones were having fun in the living room.
Suddenly, Emily seemed to remember something. She looked at Luna and said, "Luna, I saw your mom at the movie theater entrance last night!"
Luna immediately put down the doll in her hands, her little eyebrows furrowing tightly. She shook her head hard, "Impossible! My mom was busy in the lab all day yesterday and came home very late. She didn't go to any movie theater!"
"It was her! I recognize your mom! She was walking with a really handsome uncle!"
Emily's little face turned red with urgency, and her voice got louder.
"You're lying! My mom didn't!"
Luna's eyes reddened with anger, and she looked like she was about to cry.
The two children argued more and more fiercely, and their voices immediately attracted the adults.
Emily's mom quickly walked over, pulled her daughter aside, and looked at the nearby servant with both embarrassment and apology, "Oh my, the little one must have mistaken someone else. How could Daisy leave Luna behind to watch a movie with someone else? She must have seen wrong."
After saying this, she quickly patted her daughter's hand, signaling her not to talk nonsense anymore.
"Exactly, my mom would never leave me behind to watch a movie with someone else!"
At first, Luna said this with certainty, but gradually, thinking about Daisy's attitude toward her recently, she became a bit uncertain.
Even so, she didn't show her thoughts. Instead, after Emily and her mom left, she went to get her phone and called Daisy.
Today was the weekend, and she wanted to call her mom and ask her to come see her.
But Luna didn't expect that Daisy didn't answer her call...
She even hung up...
Looking at the phone showing the call had been disconnected, Luna felt very hurt. Did mom really not want her anymore?
How could that be?
Wasn't she mom's favorite person?
The sad Luna didn't notice that the phone she was holding was Vincent's personal phone that he had left at home...
At this moment, Daisy had no idea about Luna's hurt feelings, because the call she received wasn't from Luna, but from Vincent's personal phone.
Getting a call from Vincent at this time, Daisy felt like nothing good would come of it.
So she hung up directly.
After all, during this period, if Vincent really had something to find her about, he would call her work phone.
She couldn't quite describe her current relationship with Vincent, but her instinct told her she shouldn't answer this personal call.
So she hung up on several incoming calls.
After hanging up, she put her phone aside and continued with what she was doing.
Today was the weekend. She didn't have to work and didn't go out. Instead, she stayed home watering the plants.
When she got to the last pot, she discovered that all the leaves on that plant had withered, and she hadn't even noticed it before.
Daisy took out her phone and looked it up, only to find that the plant had root rot and couldn't be saved.
Daisy didn't think much of it. She just put the plant into a black garbage bag nearby, thinking she would take it downstairs to throw away later.
When Daisy finished what she was doing, she took the black garbage bag downstairs.
But Daisy didn't expect to run into an unexpected person downstairs.
Vincent?
What was he doing here?
"Daisy."
Originally, Daisy wanted to pretend she didn't see him, but Vincent wasn't going to let that happen. After noticing Daisy's attempt to ignore him, Vincent called out to her first.
Hearing his voice, Daisy's steps paused. Knowing she couldn't pretend not to see him anymore, she had to stop and look at Vincent, her tone unfriendly.
"What are you doing here?"
Vincent heard the displeasure in Daisy's words. His eyes flashed, but he didn't answer her question. Instead, he looked at her hands, at the green plant sticking out of the black garbage bag, raised his eyebrows slightly, and said slowly, "What? You don't like it?"
The way Daisy looked, she was obviously going to throw the plant away.
And if he remembered correctly, this plant was one he had left here before.
Vincent couldn't help but think of the call from the servant at home today, saying that when Luna's friend came to play, she told Luna she saw Daisy watching a movie with a handsome uncle.
He didn't know what he was thinking, but when he got that call, he lost interest in continuing to handle business. When he came to his senses, he was already here.
Now watching Daisy about to throw away the plant, Vincent's expression wasn't too good.
So yesterday she went to the movies with another man, and today she couldn't wait to throw away the plant he left here?
How nice!
Daisy didn't answer Vincent's question and didn't know what Vincent was thinking. She just saw him staring at the plant in her hands, his brows furrowed.
Daisy ignored him and walked straight to the trash can, throwing the plant in without mercy. Her movements were clean and decisive, without any hesitation.
After throwing away the trash, Daisy saw Vincent still staring at her. She frowned and was about to go upstairs, but Vincent blocked her way.
Looking at Vincent blocking her path, Daisy's expression was displeased, "So what exactly do you want? Don't tell me you came here specifically because you knew I was throwing away this plant? If you like it so much, just say so. Should I pick it up and give it back to you?"
Hearing this, Vincent's face darkened slightly. Meeting Daisy's gaze, he said in a low voice, "I'm not that bored!"
"I happened to have lunch with a client nearby today, and I ran into you, so I came over to say hello."
Vincent's simple sentence served as an explanation.
Hearing this, Daisy's expression changed. There did seem to be some luxury residences and high-end restaurants nearby, so... had she just been presumptuous?
Thinking about this situation, Daisy suddenly felt both embarrassed and annoyed!
Didn't this make her look like she was being presumptuous?
Thinking about what she had just said to Vincent, Daisy really felt like crawling into a hole...
