The only one for me
The only one for me
(Dean)
I have called Arthur and asked him to urgently look into how those pictures got to the press and I know I'll have my answer in less than a day.
I stood in front of Bella's front door and exhaled deeply, ready to face this strange lady but this time I won't be leaving if I don't see my woman.
I press the doorbell and waited and after a while the door creaks open and this lady stood before me yet again, bearing an unreadable expression.
But instead of telling me off, she shifts to let me in, and I see a smirk creeping up her face.
Is she messing with me?
"Come in," she says, giving me quite the look.
I step in, still as confused as hell.
"Didn't you say you just —," I tried to voice out but the approaching footsteps cuts me off.
I turn to see Bella, and she paused as soon as she sees me, staring into my eyes.
The warmth in her eyes somehow takes all my worries and fears away.
"Babe," I call out softly and rushed to her, pulling her close and wrapping my arms around her, I hold her tight, like I was scared she'd slip out of my embrace.
It was a relief to see she was okay and not cuddled up in bed, still I have it in the back of my mind to do something to ease her stress.
We stay like that for a few heartbeat before I kissed her forehead, I look into her eyes. "I'm so sorry babe, I came as soon as I heard," I say and paused, gathering my emotions. "I know how you feel but I promise to do whatever it takes to help us through this…. we'll get through it."
I see a smile form on her face, and then she leans in and kisses me, she pulls away, her eyes crinkle as she places her hand on mine. "We'll face it head-on, together, as a couple,"
My heart warms as she says that and I couldn't stop my smile from spreading and then I nod.
She holds my gaze for a second before snapping her eyes back to the lady behind us.
She has her arms crossed as those pair of eyes watched us.
Bella turns to me again and said. "This is Ivy, my sister," she says and watched my reaction.
Okay, I was right about those familiar pair of eyes but sister… uhmm, how—
I look at Ivy and I could have sworn I saw a small smile sitting on her lips but it's gone as quickly as it came.
My eyes flickers between Bella and Ivy. "Your— did you…you found her?" My words comes out in a stutter, eliciting a soft chuckle from Bella.
And then she nods, confirming my suspicion. "Yes, that one," her face beams. "And no, I didn't, she found me instead." Bella divulged.
I've always known about Bella's missing sister, it was a tough search at the time as all efforts to find her failed.
And I know how much this means to Bella.
Ivy clears her throat, and extends her hand. "It's good to finally meet you, Dean," she says firmly, her eyes darting on me and then that smile I saw on her face a while ago resurfaced.
But by mere looking at her, she's seems cold yet not unkind, mysterious but I could see how much she cares about my wife and she comes off as a no-nonsense woman, one you wouldn't dare trifle with, just like Bella, they're so much alike. But my Bella's a little more approachable.
I offer a small smile and take her hand. "Likewise, Ivy." I say with a more steady tone.
I'm not gonna lie, I was a little bit confused why she'd do what she did when we first met but now I'd like to think she has her reasons, and oddly I don't feel offended neither do I take it to heart.
And to confirm my intuition, she leans closer and says, her tone softer but still cautious. "But know this, if you hurt Bella again, you'll have to answer to me. Forgive me for earlier," she says, stifling a chuckle.
Fine, perhaps I misjudged, she isn't as uptight and cold as I thought.
My smile widens and then I nod earnestly. "It's fine," I say and shifted my gaze to Bella, who was looking at us with a smile. I hold her gaze for a second before I reply to Ivy. "I'll never hurt Bella again, she's the most important person in my life, along with our kids," I say confidently, my voice firm.
I see the blush spread across Bella's cheeks as I say this and quickly she looks away, trying to hide her flustered face.
Ivy let's out a deep breath, throwing her hands up. "That's it. I'm going to let you two lovebirds be, I feel like I'm third wheeling at this point," she shakes her. "I'll go be with the kids now, you know where to find me," she says to Ivy before walking into the living room.
I turn to Bella, lifting a brow.
Bella nods. "Yeah, the twins are at hers, alongside with Aria, her daughter," she explains, sensing my confusion.
I sit on the couch with Bella's head resting on my laps, as we talked, it feels so therapeutic listening to her, her soft smile, her giggles, even the tiniest thing Bella does squeezes my heart and I feel like I've won the best prize.
My shoulders relaxes, and the tension and stress of the day eased completely.
I didn't think getting insanely jealous was going to be part of my day until Calvin's name popped up and not just that, Bella has a bright smile on her face as she talks about him.
Am I a prick for being jealous of my wife's friend?
"So, Calvin's really a God sent, he said it's okay to stay home till I'm ready to come back, but I've sucked it up, I'm resuming work a day after tomorrow," her eyes crinkle as she continues. "He's always been like this, he lends a hand even when I don't ask, he knows what to say when I'm down, and —sometimes I feel like…,"
Her head whips up when she realizes I wasn't saying anything. "Are you even listening to—," she sees the look on my face and only then did she pause and then a smile appears.
She cups my face and her smile turns to a chuckle, a brief one. "Don't tell me you're jealous of —-," she takes my features in and exhaled.
She pulls her head up and kisses me, her eyes glistening as she says. "As much as I love to see it, but there's really no need to get jealous of Calvin, you're the only one I love and want, my husband, Calvin knows this, now stop sulking," She says and that has my heart singing.
God, I love this woman, so much that I'm not even sure how I've been functioning this past years.
