Chapter 175 Don't Know Where I Offended Him
Alaric's deep eyes moved away from Cordelia as he pulled out his phone from his pocket.
Seeing this, Dominic frowned slightly.
"Cordelia, since you're working, I'll head out first."
"I'll wait for you at home."
Cordelia nodded and agreed, "Okay."
Alaric had no intention of making a complaint call. His phone had just vibrated, so he took it out to check the message.
After Dominic left, he put his phone back.
Cordelia glanced at the prescription she'd entered in the computer for Alaric and said.
"I've already noted for the pharmacy staff that they must put labels on everything."
"They won't forget this time."
She finished speaking and looked at Alaric with a calm smile, "You can just go downstairs to pick up the medicine."
Alaric's face was cold, his deep eyes seeming even more displeased than when Dominic had been here earlier.
Cordelia didn't understand.
"Does Dominic live at The Stone Manor?"
Alaric asked coldly.
When Dominic left, that line about going home to wait for Cordelia made Alaric very uncomfortable.
Hearing this, Cordelia lowered her head to organize the documents on her desk and said softly, "I guess so."
Donald had accepted Dominic as his godson, so Dominic was also considered part of the Stone family.
Besides, Donald and Dominic's father had been good friends for many years.
When they were abroad, the Gray family often helped them, so the two families had long been as close as one. So Cordelia didn't see anything wrong with Dominic staying at The Stone Manor.
Seeing Cordelia's matter-of-fact expression, Alaric's heart sank.
He stared at Cordelia heavily, feeling very unhappy.
With a cold face, he suddenly stood up from his chair and walked out of Cordelia's office.
Cordelia raised her eyebrows slightly and continued organizing the files.
But soon she noticed Alaric's medical card on her desk.
She picked up the medical card and took it to the pharmacy for Alaric.
When Alaric got to the pharmacy, he realized he hadn't taken his medical card, but given his status, he didn't need the medical card for it to work.
So even without the medical card, the pharmacy staff gave him the medicine.
When Cordelia walked to the pharmacy window with the medical card, Alaric had already gotten his medicine.
She walked over, pushed the medical card into Alaric's hand, then took the medicine from him to check whether each medication had notes.
Alaric looked down at her serious expression, feeling troubled.
"Do you do this for every patient?"
Cordelia didn't look up, examining the medicine in her hands, and nodded at his question.
"Yes."
Her previous patients had all been elderly people whose memory was declining. If she wasn't careful, they could easily take the wrong medicine.
So Cordelia was very careful with every patient.
When Alaric saw Cordelia coming earlier, his mood had improved slightly, but hearing her answer now, his face darkened again.
He had inexplicably hoped that he held a special place in Cordelia's heart, which was why she cared so much about his health.
But it turned out Cordelia really just treated him as a patient.
No wonder three years ago after Cordelia left the hospital, many patients still came looking for her.
Alaric suppressed the discomfort in his heart.
After Cordelia finished checking the medicine, she handed it to him.
Alaric reached out to take it.
Cordelia clearly sensed that Alaric was angry when receiving the items.
She looked up at him, but Alaric turned and left directly.
Cordelia pressed her lips together lightly and returned to her office.
At lunchtime, Donald made a nutritious meal for Ruth and brought it over.
Cordelia received the call and also went to Ruth's hospital room to eat.
Although Ruth still couldn't speak, her condition had recovered quite well.
After eating the nutritious lunch Donald made, she smiled and gave Donald a thumbs up.
Donald smiled and said.
"I'm glad you like it."
Ruth nodded eagerly, urgently expressing how much she liked it.
As they were chatting and laughing, Kenna and Terry also came to visit Ruth.
Kenna didn't know that last time when Marigold and Terry came to see Ruth, they had made her furious.
So when she heard their voices, Ruth immediately raised her hand and waved it, signaling Clifford to kick them out.
She didn't want to see anyone from the Thompson family right now.
Seeing this, Terry quickly apologized, "Aunt Ruth, last time was our fault. We came this time to sincerely apologize."
"My mom knows she was wrong. You two are sisters—what unforgivable grudge could there be?"
"Please don't be angry."
Ruth still wouldn't accept it, keeping a cold face and waving her hand.
Clifford immediately asked Kenna and Terry to leave.
Kenna saw Amber sitting beside Ruth, her eyes radiating a kind light.
"Amber, I'm your grandmother."
Kenna spoke urgently, calling out to Amber.
Cordelia rubbed her temples.
She had already dealt with Marigold, but didn't expect Kenna to be the most stubborn one.
When Ruth heard Kenna's words, she shot her a stern glare.
Kenna's attention wasn't on Ruth at all.
She was staring intently at Amber, her eyes slightly red.
Seeing Kenna like this, Donald sighed, his eyes showing some impatience.
The first few times they could still talk nicely with Kenna and Terry, but after seeing they refused to give up, Donald, no matter how good-tempered, couldn't help but get upset.
Amber sat obediently beside Ruth. Seeing Kenna's anxious appearance, her little eyebrows furrowed.
She didn't understand what Kenna meant.
But she could sense that everyone didn't like them.
She shrank closer to Ruth's side.
Ruth reached out and pulled Amber into her arms.
Kenna saw the wariness in Amber's eyes toward her, and her expression changed.
She looked hurt.
Clifford had already pushed them out the door.
Terry kept saying nice things to Clifford, but Clifford remained unmoved.
Last time they came, Ruth had been extremely emotional.
Ruth's condition couldn't handle stress, yet they disregarded family decency and treated Ruth this way.
Such relatives were better off without.
After being kicked out of Ruth's hospital room, Kenna looked dejected.
"It's all your fault."
"If you hadn't treated Cordelia that way the first time she came to our house, Cordelia wouldn't be keeping us from seeing Amber now."
Terry's face darkened. During this time, what he'd received most from Kenna was blame and resentment. Now he lost his temper too and his face turned cold.
"It's just a child! What's so special about that! Thomas isn't dead—just have him find a woman and have another one!"
Terry left in frustration. When he turned the corner, he happened to run into Alaric and immediately greeted him.
"Alaric, are you here to visit your grandmother?"
Alaric's face was cold. Without answering, he walked right past him.
Terry's expression froze, not understanding what he'd done to offend him.
