Chapter 33 Roger has always been mine

Chapter 33 Roger has always been mine
Hands jammed together once again, followed by standing ovations, but this time, it wasn’t out of excitement but rather shock.

“Can we have a word from the world’s mysterious CEO?” the reporter asked. Roger forced a smile. It was his turn to speak, and he did so rather lazily.

“Thank you, Dad, and everyone present here today. I’m extremely grateful to my family and close relations for helping to make this possible. I hope that going forward, we shall all work together to move the company into greater heights, making it better for everyone than it is now.”

The stunned audience overshadowed Roger’s words. They were too frozen looking at him than the words coming from his mouth. The guy looked young but exuded an unmatched authority, similar to that of his father.

Even when he was done, they still could not get over it until Giovanni glared at the reporter. She smiled from embarrassment before proceeding with the report.

Blood crept to her cheeks, turning them red. “You heard it yourselves. The Dawson Group has separated from RD Group, but the CEO of RD Group happens to be Don Gio’s genius first son. He happens to have worked undercover for almost a decade in his own company.”

As soon as the press conference ended, the required documents were signed, and the lines of reporting changed instantly. Emails began to drop from different heads of departments.

Reports meant to be sent to Giovanni were immediately sent to Roger. As his phone kept beeping with multiple alerts, Giovanni stood up after signing the last document. “My job here is done.”

The board bowed respectfully to Roger before taking permission to leave, most of them old enough to be his father.

The media were also packing their gadgets, but the reporter could not stop looking at Roger, though he didn’t seem to notice. Roger was a man beaten by love, and no woman had the power to capture his attention anymore.

Only Karen mattered. “No, Dad, we need to talk,” Roger said politely. His father sat back in his chair, facing him. “What is it this time?”

Roger’s heart was heavy. He could use all the tools in his power to find his wife, but then, he wanted the fast way. “Please, Dad, where did you take her?”

Ever since he failed to locate her the second time, something died inside of him, and he was certain it would not be resurrected until he found his wife.

“I won’t tell you, but now you have a great responsibility on your shoulders. Are you going to spend time tracking me? We agreed you’d never do that,” Giovanni pointed out.

Family members were not supposed to spy on each other unless there were situations that warranted danger.

It was disrespectful for Roger to track his father like a criminal, so he wasn’t counting on it.

“It’s alright. I’ll find a way around it,” he sighed. Giovanni stood up, and Roger did the same, embracing his father affectionately.

“Thanks, dad. I’m grateful for everything,” Roger said.

Giovanni nodded and smiled at him. “You already know every nook and cranny of the companies. I have faith in you.”

As soon as Giovanni left, Roger activated the tracker he had placed on his father after hugging him. “I’m sorry, dad, but we can be at this until I find my kitten.” Unfortunately, the middle-aged man went straight home.

Roger went to his office and met with his secretary. “Welcome, I’m Dahlia, your secretary,” she introduced herself.

He gazed at her and gave simple instructions. “Coordinate with HR. I want everything on Brad Cooper.” As soon as she turned around, he noticed something and immediately addressed it. “Don’t wear that length of skirt around the office again.”

It wasn’t that he was attracted, but what if his wife visited? He was certain that Karen would not be happy to see his secretary dressed in such a short skirt.

Shame crossed Dahlia’s face, and her head lowered. She was young, in her early twenties, and also beautiful and vibrant. “Yes, sir,” she answered politely, her heart thumping.

Roger’s voice wasn’t raised, but it was deep with a touch of allure that made her blush rather than being offended.

The HR department was busy with recruitment because people were resigning on their own. It would be better for them to find new jobs before the company takes them on.

Getting fired would tarnish their credentials, so it was better for them to make the hard decision, regardless of their hefty allowances.

They had not only directly encountered Roger but also revealed their true colors when he was in disguise. They might either face demotion or termination, neither of which they could accept.

Dahlia returned. "Sir, you have to see the news." She switched on the large LED screen in his office, but Roger's mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Karen.

News about him spread like wildfire, reaching the Fletcher residence. Tonia was nervous, pacing back and forth as her parents argued. "It's your fault," Katherine blamed her husband. "You shouldn't have slapped her when she came to see us."

Gordon, her husband, was also unwilling to take the blame. "My fault? You are the one who insisted that we send the document to disown her that night."

"But Roger doesn't love her. He still wants Tonia. Right, Tonia?" The mention of Tonia caused the color to drain from her face. For the first time, she didn't care much about her appearance, allowing beads of sweat to settle on her forehead.

No wonder Roger appeared bossy even when working as a bodyguard and meeting her at the mall, he called her trash. Tonia treated Roger so bad and knowing his identity only drained her confidence.

"Mom, I met him at the mall last night with Brad." She couldn't say the rest, but her mother faintly guessed it. "It doesn't matter. Love is deep. You should go and see him."

She never thought the bodyguard who paraded around was secretly the richest man in the world but Gordon remembered something. His daughter was married to Roger so his son - in - law was the richest in the world.

"No. Let me get in touch with Karen first," he countered, and Katherine did not refuse.

However, the call quickly disconnected. "I think she blocked my number. Tonia, has she been coming to school?"

This was the first time he asked about Karen ever since she sending her away that night. Tonia was sweating bullets.

The unfavored daughter was suddenly the most wanted, so what was going to happen to her now? "Mom, dad, forget Karen. Roger has always been mine. I will have him back."
