Chapter 136 Roger, control your temper

Chapter 136 Roger, control your temper

Juana and Alejandro feared receiving the three men, their expressions contorted with fear and confusion. “Don Gio, to what do we owe this visit?” they addressed the exquisite middle-aged man with a few silver hairs.

No one could forget the ruthless Mafia Don, once known as the ‘devil in white,’ but Giovanni’s expression was not welcoming, even as he addressed them amicably, “Meet my best friend, Hank, and my first son, Roger.”

“There is no need for an introduction. The news concerning your success never stops,” Juana commented, blocking the entrance with her slim frame.

“Can we come in?” Roger asked, discomfort swaying the couple. If anything happened now, they would be no match for the three of them. One of them could take down themselves and their bodyguards without breaking a sweat.

“It depends on your reason for being here. Please don’t get me wrong, but we aren’t technically friends.”

Juana thought it best to prevent them from coming in, but they seemed determined to do so. “It’s about your son, Wade.”

Hearing Wade, Juana quickly stepped out of the doorway, and Alejandro welcomed them to the living room. There wasn’t anything of interest because this was not the permanent residence of the Thomas’s.

Wade was their reason for coming, so they decided to crash in one of their old houses. It was neat and well-kept but nothing fancy.

“What about our son?” Alejandro asked, hoping that Wade was not in trouble with the Dawsons. “If he has crossed you, please go ahead and deal with him. Just please, keep us out of it.”

The corner of Hank’s lips lifted a little, but Giovanni and Roger’s expressions were dark. “I’m surprised you can save him in place of your biological son but would not stand with him in the time of trouble.”

“Well, we did before, but where did that get us? A child should help the parents at some point, right? He can’t even marry the girl we choose for him, so right now, he’s useless to us,” Juana shrugged, annoyed that dignified individuals like this brought them bad news instead of a multimillion-dollar business deal.

“Is that so? Then why not leave him alone?”

“We spent a lot of money on him. His upkeep, if you know what we are talking about. If he can’t help us, then he should as well sign off his businesses to us. They have miraculously regained strength, and then, he can marry that gold digger of a wife,” Juana responded, irritation pumping through her heart.

Roger’s fingers clenched at the sound of his sister being addressed that way, but he managed to keep his cool. “So, you want us to deal with him directly for offending us, right?” Giovanni asked, and the couple nodded simultaneously.

“Yes, and if he’s out of the picture, we will immediately take over everything that belongs to him,” Juana explained. Roger felt the urge to punch her in the face.

“Okay,” Giovanni sighed. “So, you want your son’s hard work to go to waste on gambling, is that it?”

“You make it sound like we are villains. We love Wade, and we took care of him. We taught him everything he knows about business. We protected him from the mafia wars, allowing him to enjoy the peace he has now. Taking his hard work is a small price to pay for that, Don, I hope we are on the same page?” Alexandro explained seriously.

The Dawsons were a powerful and wealthy family, so using them to get rid of their unwanted problem didn’t seem like a bad idea.

“Do you know that Wade has been in the hospital for almost a week?”

“He told us, and we would have been there if he wasn’t doing it for that woman. She’s nothing but trouble, a sorry excuse for a wife that I would never accept, and the reason we are in this mess…” Juana was saying when Roger slapped her hard across the face, causing her to instantly fall unconscious.

“Roger, control your temper,” Giovanni scolded him, but Roger refused to feel guilty. “She has a sharp tongue. I’m just teaching her to watch it.”

“Don Gio, it’s disrespectful for you to come to my house and insult my wife like this,” Alejandro pointed out, trying to contain his anger. He helped his wife up from the floor, and she soon regained consciousness, her eyes filled with fear and her cheeks red and swollen, burning from pain.

“Why did you hit me? Haven’t they said the Dawsons are fair? Don Gio, your son is acting irrationally right now,” Juana started again.

Roger smiled, but his eyes remained cold. “Be careful how you speak about Wade’s wife because she’s my only sister,” Roger growled, causing the couple to freeze.

“No, there is no freaking way that can’t be. We did a background check on her. She’s nothing, a no…” Alejandro was about to say a nobody when Hank punched him in the face. “Say that again, and I’ll start tearing you apart, limb, by limb, until you learn to respect the Dawsons’ heiress.”

Alejandro spat blood, one of his teeth loose from the impact. “The Dawson’s heiress? Not Therese?”

“Therese is a fake name she came up with to drive away gold diggers like you," Giovanni revealed, adding, "Her real name is Delanie Dawson."

The middle-aged couple were dumbfounded. All this while, their adopted son had chosen the big fish, and they made a mistake.

Had they given him time like he asked for, they would have been swimming in wealth now, but there has to be a way to make amends.

"Roger, you can slap me again. I messed up," Juan pleaded, her expression remorseful as she went down on her knees. Her husband joined her. "Same here, Hank, slap me again. I deserve it for being blind."

Giovanni smiled and shook his head. "Perhaps you could tell us who sent the N-40 gang after her."

The couples’ expressions dimmed. They were happy when Wade mentioned it but knowing Delanie’s identity now, they were filled with regret.

"We have no idea, Don. We are in-laws after all," Juana mentioned, but Giovanni's expression darkened as he remembered the exact information that brought him there.

"In-laws? I think you are mistaken because from today, Wade has no adoptive parents."

The couple's eyes widened like saucers. "No, you can't do that. We are his legal adoptive parents."

The three men smiled but the couple could sense danger approaching. "I'm giving you the option to sign these, or I will show him these findings of mine," Giovanni threw two documents on the table. The couple became the most pitiful when they saw the content of both documents.
