Chapter 133 It Doesn’t Hurt

Chapter 133 It Doesn’t Hurt
Roger’s hand was wrapped around Wade’s, the force too strong for the doctors to separate them. A strange occurrence defying science, but Wade was elated.

Even in Roger’s subconscious mind, he still recognized him, and the fact that he didn’t want Wade to leave was inexplicable.

“Roger, I knew it. You’ll come out just right, and I’m never gonna leave your side.”

The doctors left the ward, confused, and as they delibrated on what to do, they informed Giovanni of what had happened. When Karen heard them whispering, she hastened back to the ward, excited, as she moved to Roger’s other side, holding his other hand.

“Stallion,” she sniffed, a faint smile lined Roger’s lips, bringing so much warmth into her heart. “Stallion, I love you so much. We’ll be right here, by your side,” she vowed. Giovanni and the doctors watched from the entrance as Giovanni gave the go-ahead.

“I think the plan would work.”

“What plan?” Karen asked worriedly. One of the doctors explained, “We decided to keep the two patients in the same ward, so we are moving them to a bigger room.”

The news was heartwarming because though Roger had not opened his eyes nor spoken, they could see signs of improvement.

“Roger, I really hope you wake up soon. You have to tell us who is behind this, and don’t worry, Hank and I would take care of it. All we need is the information you have in your head,” Giovanni said again, earning the same frown as before, but now, things were clearing up.

Roger didn’t want anyone’s involvement in the matter. Even in his condition, he wanted to complete his revenge on his own.

Giovanni sighed helplessly but did not say anymore. He would just have to wait until Roger wakes up to find a way to get the needed information.

Following the latest arrangements, with Karen taking care of Roger and Delanie being there for Wade in the very large ward specially prepared for their needs, all four of them fell asleep when Karen suddenly heard a soft, masculine voice.

“Kitten.” Her eyes snapped open as she turned to Roger's side. He was the only one who called her by that name, and to her surprise, his eyes were wide open.

Karen embraced him, her tears washing his face, but he warned her, in a low tone, "lower your voice."

Karen nodded as he asked her, "how is Wade?"

Her smile broadened as she spoke in a low tone to avoid waking the others. "Wade is doing fine every day, right beside you, and Delanie is very happy. How are you feeling? I have to call the doctor."

She knew some examinations would have to be done to determine if the specialists were still needed, but Roger stopped her. "No, don't call them. I need a favor. Can you trust me?"

Feeling a strange discomfort in her stomach, Karen knew this was not going to be good. "What do you want to do, Roger?"

"I have to be gone for a few hours. Can you cover for me?"

Karen stared at him up and down, her fears rising from the agony she felt upon hearing about his condition. "No way. You aren't going anywhere. You haven't even healed from your surgery."

He shrugged as Karen propped him up to a sitting position. "But it doesn't hurt. I need to be in Mexico, but trust me, I will use the chopper and be back before you know it."

Karen hadn't recovered from the sudden news of her husband being in a coma for days, so she wasn't ready to dance to this tune.

"I'm sorry, Roger, but your health comes first. Revenge can wait. Whoever did this cannot hide from the face of the earth."

"But Dad and Hank would get them first. I don't want them to," he pouted. Karen smiled, finding is tactics funny but advised, "there is a way around it, and you aren't going until you have recovered."

Seeing the care and worry in his eyes, Roger obliged, allowing her to call the doctors.

When they entered the ward, Delanie and Wade woke up as well, excitement bubbling in their stomachs. They waited anxiously for the doctors to check on Roger, and Karen informed the rest of the family.

They arrived at the same time the doctor was explaining Roger's condition.

"We can't explain the cause of the coma and the recovery, but everything seems fine. It's also strange that you don't feel any pain after the surgery."

Giovanni instantly realized that the doctors had misunderstood whatever Roger had told them.

The boy had learned to endure pain at a young age, so even if it hurt, he would see it as nothing.

Roger was allowed to walk, and the incisions were checked. Feeling like a powerhouse, he asked, “When can I be discharged?”

“By tomorrow,” the doctor informed, and a sigh of relief escaped him. “I want to see Mom, Declan, Hector, and Hendrix. Can you call them? I know Uncle Hank and Aunt Nora would like to come,” he smiled. Giovanni shook his head.

“The whole family is here. I’ll call them.”

He returned with the family, only to hear Wade speaking on the phone, but everything coming out of the other end was quite disturbing, even upsetting Delanie.
