Chapter 132 I’m staying right here until he wakes up
Karen had gone to see Roger a few minutes after Giovanni left the ward to that of Wade, and the sight of him ached her heart as she went to sit by his side, holding his hand to her chest.

It felt so wrong to see the man who walked away healthy in such a state in the twinkle of an eye.

Every promise he ever made to her, etched on her mind. “Why, Stallion, why didn’t you inform me about your arrival? You knew you were unfit for the surgery, and yet you went ahead to do it. Did you not care about me at all?” She sobbed, her tears wetting his hand as she swallowed to catch her breath.

“I never imagined seeing you in a hospital bed like this, but here you are. I’m not going home without you, Roger, you better recover fast because the longer you stay in this condition, the longer I stay here and with the whole family here, I’m not sure who is going to take care of business.”

Minutes passed with her sobs as well as chastisements until one of the doctors entered. “Ma’am, you have to leave now.”

“No, I’m staying right here until he wakes up.” Her attention focused on the pale looking man through blurry eyes. “Stallion, you have to wake up. I’m taking you home,” she wailed, the doctor was helpless.

“Look, there is still hope because he’s not dead, okay? As for now, you have to let the patient rest.”

“Which rest?” Karen’s anger rose. “He can’t hear me or move, so how am I disturbing him? I’m his wife. The one he loves most, and I’m staying right here.”

Both the doctor and Karen missed the faint smile that stretched Roger’s lips, disappearing as fast as it appeared.

Taking a deep breath, the doctor tried to explain things further. “Look, we noticed a frown on his face when Don said some things, and we are trying to fly in some other specialists to see how best we can help him, so please give us time.”

Karen couldn’t argue anymore. For as long as the doctor said there was hope with more expects coming in to address Roger’s condition, she just needed to have faith but she couldn’t help the tears sliding down her cheeks for the fact that she couldn’t hear his voice.

How unfair life was. One moment, everything is perfect and within the next, it just shatters. If she had known something like this was going to happen, then she would have recorded his voice to keep playing to her.

She dashed out of the room too fast, missing the opportunity of seeing the faint smile return to Roger’s face. The doctor caught it time, hastening to stop her, and almost clashing into Wade on a wheelchair.

“Karen, what’s going on? Why is she crying?”

The doctor stared pitifully at him. “You aren’t supposed to be here.” They couldn’t refuse Karen because she was Roger’s wife but that was all about visits for now.

However, the doctor was about to deal with a very stubborn patient. “Well, I have to be. In fact, I was hoping that you move my bed here so I can keep him company,” Wade suggested seriously but the doctor refused. “That isn’t advisable for his condition.”

It was too late for Wade to give up. Not when Roger was in this condition because of him, and he couldn’t stand being away from him for even a second.

“Did you forget I have one of his kidneys? Please, keep me here until he gets better. You see, all our life, my parents planted hate in my heart for him. We grew up hating each other but this time, I’m gonna make things right.”

He wheeled himself to the side of Roger’s bed and held his hand, a smile on his face as the doctor went out to get the head doctor. This patient was too stubborn.

“Roger, thanks to you, I’m alive, and you have to come out of this. This is too hard on Karen, and it’s all my fault. If I didn’t need a kidney, then you wouldn’t be in this situation. Please, Roger, I’m going to be here until you get better. You gave me life the second time, and now I’m going to use it to take care of you.”

As he spoke to the man on the bed, he realized for the first time how much love had formed in his heart for him.

It was as if Roger was a missing part of him. The peace and love, Wade, had never felt before poured over him like rain but the peaceful moment was soon interrupted,

“I’m sorry, Mr. Thomas, but you have to leave,” a doctor said at the entrance as two walked towards him. “You aren’t well and will have to return to your bed.”

“Well then, bring my bed here, but I’m not going to leave his side,” Wade shrugged. Thanks to the pain meds, he was feeling okay, though not like his usual self.

“You both are being treated for different conditions. You can’t be kept together,” a doctor held the handle of his wheelchair, about to pull him away but was restricted by a force.

When they saw what was happening, everyone froze in the room.
