Chapter 131 Please, don't take her away from me
The doctors rushed in again, and one of them pleaded with Giovanni, "Please, can you excuse us for a while?"

Giovanni refused. "My son is in a coma because of him. If he can't get through this, then he isn't man enough to marry my daughter."

Hearing the severity of the matter, the doctors attended to Wade. Regaining consciousness, he couldn't believe Giovanni was still there. It meant that he wasn't dreaming.

"Did you say that Therese is your daughter?"

"Her real name is Delanie Dawson. Roger named her after my mother."

Wade's already pale face was paler now, and everything was beginning to make sense. Therese's striking resemblance to Molly, but why was she never mentioned by the media?

He vowed to not have any link with the Dawsons, but now, he was addicted to her like a moth to a flame. She was also carrying his child. So, what would he do?

"Now that you know who she is, will you still sacrifice your life for her if given the chance?"

Wade paused this time, unable to understand why she lied to him. "I've always loved her from the moment I laid eyes on her. Even as I hate her lying to me, I still love her. Please, don't take her away from me," he cried. "I will work hard, give her the best in life. I won't trouble you in any way. Just don't take her, please."

Facing Giovanni, he was powerless. In terms of wealth, he was like an ant before the legend, and the fact that he was his father-in-law made it sound like a bitter pill.

Still, Wade was ready to swallow it because of how deep he had fallen for his wife. Giovanni smiled and wiped his tears. "Stop being a baby. I don't think I'm strong enough to fight against love, but just to let you know, you are living on one of Roger's kidney, and he's in a coma because of you."

The news sounded like a tsunami, and the doctors understood how ruthless Giovanni Dawson was. He couldn't even wait for Wade to recover before stabbing him with all this information.

"Don..." Wade was saying, unable to understand Giovanni's expression when the latter corrected him. "Dad, it's how you'll address me from now onwards."

Like fresh waters to a thirsty soul, Wade felt like a different person. Giovanni Dawson accepted him as a son-in-law, and the emotions on his face brought tears to the eyes of the medical staff present.

One moment, they thought Giovanni was ruthless, and another moment, they were admiring him.

“Thank you so much,” Wade cried as Giovanni embraced him. “Welcome to the family, Wade. The past is forgotten. As for your company, don’t worry about it.”

Wade pulled away, tears streaming down his cheeks. “The company is not important. Where is Roger? I want to see him.” It was hard to imagine that Roger was not the person he thought him to be all these years.

And the Dawsons, they were a strange family, but Wade was glad to be a part of them.

“I thought you would want to see your wife first,” Giovanni teased him, Wade was torn. There lay the man who saved his life and the woman he loved with his life. “Can’t I see them both?”

Giovanni chuckled, and the medical team smiled. “Karen is with Roger, so you can talk to your wife first. She’s been extremely worried.”

Wade couldn’t believe all that was happening. One moment he was in his house trying to be a hero, and the next moment, he was at the hospital, hit with the news that Giovanni Dawson was his father-in-law. But wouldn’t he be ashamed of his adoptive parents?

“Wade,” Delanie’s sorrowful voice rang from the entrance as soon as Giovanni stepped out. Wade smiled as Delanie hastened to his side. “I thought I lost you.”

She leaned in and kissed him on the lips. Wade was in tears. Delanie’s eyes were red and puffy, and he could tell she had been crying a lot.

“I’m sorry I scared you, but why didn’t you tell me?” he asked, adding, “did you think I would take advantage of you?”

Delanie shook her head. “Nothing of that sort. It’s just a stupid family tradition, but you must know that I have a twin brother, Declan. He was the one with me at the party.”

Wade remembered clearly. “No wonder he looked so much like Don, but my attention was so focused on you. Ah,” he sobbed. Delanie was disturbed and pressed the bell.

A doctor walked in with a nurse. “The anesthesia must have worn off now. We’ll give him some pain meds.”

Delanie waited patiently as the medical team did their job, but as soon as they were done, Wade requested, “Can I see Roger now?”

“We can make the arrangement,” one of the staff agreed. Delanie was equally eager to see her brother, and as Wade was being wheeled to Roger’s room, they saw Karen coming out, her hands on her mouth as she sobbed silently.

“Karen, what’s going on?” Delanie asked worriedly. Wade couldn’t wait for Karen to calm down and wheeled himself inside Roger’s room, his heart stopping instantly.
