Chapter 361 We Are Parents for the First Time
Arabella nodded with a smile, "Yeah, you played really well."
She had also learned piano for a while when she was little, but not as well as Becky. Alexander had found her a very professional teacher for one-on-one lessons, and Becky herself worked hard too.
Becky noticed that Arabella seemed down and ran over to ask with concern, "Ms. Bourbon, what's wrong? are you feeling sad?"
Arabella smiled and didn't hide it from her, "Yeah, my good friend might be in danger, and I'm really worried about him."
Becky frowned and thought for a long while, finally saying in frustration, "I don't know how to cheer you up."
She put herself in Arabella's shoes - if something happened to her good friend Andy, she would definitely be worried and upset too. There was no way to ease the worry about a friend unless they were actually okay.
Arabella touched her little head and said with comfort, "I'm fine. I'm a grown-up, just a bit worried, not going to fall apart over it. You just be happy."
Becky hugged her, "Then let me give you some strength. My teacher says everyone has sad moments, and a hug can give someone a lot of strength when they're sad."
Arabella was touched, feeling that the calculating and ambitious little girl from the orphanage had become so sweet and lovely after more than a year of care.
Becky suddenly seemed to remember something and said, "Ms. Bourbon, last time you said it was too dangerous for me to go to Seaside City, right? We talked it over and decided to go to the museum in the suburbs instead. Andy's relative works at a travel agency, and we'll all join his tour group, so he can look after us on the way."
Hearing this, Arabella didn't quite agree, "Does that museum have the exhibition you mentioned too?"
Becky nodded, "A smaller version, probably riding on the popularity of the one in Seaside City."
Arabella thought for a moment and asked, "Is this exhibition a must-see?"
Becky hesitated, but still told the truth, "Ms. Bourbon, I really love that culture and want to see it up close. As for what Andy said about building independence, that's secondary to me."
Arabella looked at her, pulled her to sit beside her, and said, "Becky, you're a big kid now, but I still don't agree. Building independence can happen anytime, but not this way. You're only ten years old. Even with lots of people looking after you on a long trip, I wouldn't feel at ease."
Becky froze for a moment, a flash of disappointment in her eyes, but she still nodded obediently and said, "Ms. Bourbon, I understand. It's okay, I can wait until I'm older to see it."
Arabella smiled, "You don't need to wait until you're older. This weekend, I'll go with you to Seaside City. If you're going to see it, of course you should see the original large-scale exhibition. Worrying about your safety and not allowing you to travel far alone is one thing, but you loving that culture and me taking you to see it is another thing."
Becky's mouth dropped open in shock, seeming unable to believe it, "Really? Ms. Bourbon, can you really go with me to Seaside City to see the exhibition?"
Arabella sighed and stroked her hair, "Becky, you're great in every way, except sometimes you're too understanding. You're only ten years old. If you want to see an exhibition, you should naturally ask an adult to take you. Don't worry about troubling me and Mr. FitzRoy. You're our child and us taking you to do things you love is perfectly normal, isn't it?"
Becky's eyes turned red, tears about to fall.
Arabella said softly, "I don't know if Alexander and I haven't done well enough, making you so understanding all the time. We've never raised a child before, this is our first time as foster parents. If we've done some things wrong, please bear with us, okay?"
Becky couldn't hold back anymore and threw her arms around Arabella, crying out loud.
"Ms. Bourbon, I actually didn't want to go so far with my classmates at all. I was scared to death... but I really wanted to see the exhibition... I thought you and Mr. FitzRoy were so busy with work, I didn't want to trouble you... Thank you, Ms. Bourbon, thank you for telling me this..."
Arabella felt bad too and held her, comforting her for a long time.
She blamed herself for not noticing Becky's needs.
Becky stopped crying after just a little while, her eyes red as she laughed and said with a sob, "Tomorrow I'll tell my classmates that you're taking me to Seaside City to see the exhibition. They'll be so shocked, none of our classmates' parents spoil their kids like this."
Arabella smiled and nodded, "Yeah, our Becky is one of a kind, she's so amazing."
With her worries gone, Becky soon went to bed. Arabella sat alone in the living room, hesitated for a moment, then made a video call to Daisy.
It was daytime on Daisy's side. She was wearing workout clothes, doing yoga in the yard, with a delicate little table beside her holding a pretty plate of snacks.
Arabella looked at her lifestyle and didn't know whether to laugh or cry, "You went there to enjoy yourself, didn't you? Eat less, or if you get fat, you won't be able to play the female lead when you get back."
Daisy made a bitter face, "Arabella, that's the most vicious curse I've ever heard. If I can't play the female lead in the future, I'm blaming your jinx of a mouth. Your husband will have to compensate me financially."
"Go talk to him about it then," Arabella said with a smile, asking with concern, "How are things there? Are you adjusting okay?"
Daisy said, "It's just living life, isn't it? I can thrive anywhere. Someone as great as me - where couldn't I do well?"
Seeing that her attitude was indeed fine, Arabella felt relieved.
Daisy enthusiastically told her about the neighbors living across from her, the handsome blonde guy she kept running into at the supermarket, and getting asked for her contact info while jogging in the park.
Her life was quite colorful.
"By the way, have you been in touch with Philip?" Daisy suddenly said, "I looked for him as soon as I got abroad. At first he replied to my messages, and we even planned to meet up in a couple days, but then suddenly I couldn't reach him. I sent him tons of messages, and there's been no response at all."
