The Celebration

Once we all dispensed into our family groups, I noticed that Elizabeth was there as well. She hugged me while congratulating me, and I thanked and hugged her back. Grandma was excited; she even brought a date, and I couldn’t stop winking at her when she introduced him to us. Grandma wasn’t playing when she said she wanted to start a new life. While I was standing there with my family, I felt someone wrap their arms around my waist, and I leaned back into their hold, knowing it was Kyle. he whispered into my ear, “ Do you know how beautiful and sexy you are?” Then he kissed me on my cheek. I turned around in his arms and wrapped my hands around his neck while looking up in his eyes. “ Do you know that I don’t believe in divorce?” I had a smirk on my face, and he laughed out loud and kissed me again.

It was time for dinner, so everyone had to take their seats. There was a long rectangle table decorated especially for our group. It was on a brightly lit stage with six chairs, beautiful crystal vase centerpieces, and our favorite flowers. We took our seats with nothing but huge smiles on our faces. “ When did you guys come up with this plan?” I asked the guys. They looked at each other and smiled “ when we were in Europe. Since you guys were so close, we figured you wouldn’t mind having one big, exciting engagement party. Did we pull it off?” Mark asked. The guys and I looked at each other and gave them a resounding “Yes.” We all started laughing again. Dinner was served, and the food was delicious. We had chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert. We all went to the dance floor after dinner and had a great time dancing with the guys and family members. The whole night was perfect; I would have done nothing differently.

The next day was Sunday, and I decided to stay in the apartment all day, relaxing with the man of my dreams. It was one o’clock in the afternoon when I finally opened my eyes. Kyle was lying next to me, wide awake, with a smile on his face. “ Why are you smiling?” I asked him, still feeling sleepy. “ I am happy that you’re in my life,” he said, sticking his tongue out at me. I gave him a soft push, and he started tickling me. We were laughing and wrestling with each other in bed. We always have so much fun playing around and goofing off like this. I hope we never get too serious or busy in our lives that we forget to have these special moments together.

We took a shower together and went to the kitchen to get something to eat. Thank heavens. Kyle had ordered us food before we went into the shower because we all felt we needed to do something other than cooking. Last night wore us out; we just wanted to lie around the apartment and do nothing. Kyle ordered delicious Italian food, and I ate way too much. Now, I am lying on the sofa like a polar bear sunbathing. Kyle thinks I am the craziest person. He can’t stop laughing around me, and I love to make him laugh. I never tire of hearing and seeing him bent over laughing at my goofiness.

Monday morning, Kyle got a call from Mr Grant, and he put the phone on speaker. “ Good Morning, kids.” He always addresses us with so much love. “ I have some news about Heather. We got the restraining orders from a judge. She is not allowed to be 100 yards near either of you. The judge also talked with Mr Willams and advised him to get her help before she does something irreversible. I don’t think a piece of paper will keep her away, but at least her behavior is documented by the court. This way, if guys hurt her, it will be self-defense. If either of you see her again, let me know, and I will get you guys some bodyguards.” Bodyguards? I hope it won’t come to that. “ I hope her father sends her somewhere to get the help she needs. Thanks, Dad!” Kyle told him before ending the call.

The following week was back-to-school time, and Kyle was excited to show me around campus. He would walk me to my first class every day and wait for me most afternoons. The year went by fast, and before we knew it was time for the guys to graduate. Karen also finished the final year of her medical internship at New York Presbyterian Hospital. We are having a big graduation party for them. I am proud and excited for them. We had the graduation party in the city, and the next day, we all went to the Hamptons for a week. Grandma found a house we all loved. It was a few streets away from Kyle’s family. This time, Kyle invited Melisa and her friends to join us. This time around, there were no stalkers or crazy Holloways following us around the island.
