Chapter 147 Queen Of Dirty South

Chapter 147 Queen Of Dirty South
Chapter 147: Queen Of Dirty South

The sleek black stretch limousine slid to a halt in front of the private terminal. The low hum of muted conversations drifted from the entrance, punctuated by the soft shuffle of polished shoes and the distant clatter of luggage carts. The world around them seemed to hold its breath, the usual chaos of airports somehow muted in this rarefied space reserved for the powerful.

Coco stood beside Roy, her hand sliding into his, fingers curling tightly. The cool air brushed her face, and she took a steadying breath, trying to lock the fleeting peace inside her chest before it slipped away.

Years of battles, betrayals, and silent wars had worn on her. But here, on the cusp of escape, a fragile hope flickered. The Maldives awaited, a place untouched by ambition and deceit, a sanctuary for wounded hearts to heal.

Roy’s dark eyes met hers, shining with a mixture of exhaustion and determination. “Ready?” he asked quietly.

She nodded, offering a small, tired smile. “As ready as I’ll ever be.”

They stepped forward, the sound of their footsteps muffled by the plush carpet inside the terminal. Just as they approached the escalator to the jetway, a harsh, commanding voice called out.

“Wait.”

Coco froze. The unmistakable tone belonged to Chief Kaave, her father. His presence was like a shadow thrown across the sunlight. She turned slowly, eyes meeting his.

He strode toward her, his face unreadable, but his eyes held a storm of emotions—anger, disappointment, something almost like fear.

“Coco,” he said, his voice low but sharp, “is this another one of your strategies? Another calculated move in this endless game?”

She squared her shoulders, refusing to flinch. “No, Chief. This time, it’s for real.”

He studied her, searching for deceit but finding none. The raw honesty in her gaze unsettled him.

“All my life,” Coco began, voice steady but softening with pain, “I followed your orders. I obeyed without question, sacrificed everything without hesitation. And yet, you never saw me as worthy, ever trusted me to handle your empire.”

Her hands clenched the leather of her purse. “You doubted my loyalty, questioned my decisions, and suspended me like I was a child.”

Chief Kaave’s jaw tightened, but she pressed on.

“I’m done living in the shadow of your doubts. It’s best I go where I’m genuinely valued, where love isn’t conditional.”

He exhaled slowly, the stern mask cracking just a little. “You’re making a big mistake.”

“Maybe,” Coco said softly. “But it’s mine to make.”

His eyes flicked toward Roy, who stood patiently just a few steps away. “Roy will never forgive you.”

Coco’s expression hardened. “Then it’ll be my punishment but I’d rather take that chance.”

A tense silence stretched between them. Coco turned her gaze to Brandy, who had been watching quietly, arms folded.

Stepping forward, Coco brushed a gentle kiss on Brandy’s cheek. “Take care of him. He is annoying but he’s still my father.”

Brandy’s eyes glistened. “We both will.”

Without another word, Coco climbed the steps and entered the waiting jet. The door hissed shut behind her, sealing her decision.

Once airborne, the plane was quiet except for the steady hum of the engines. Coco settled against Roy, her head resting on his chest. The steady beat of his heart was both a comfort and a reminder of everything they had survived.

Tears escaped, trailing silently down her cheeks.

“I gave him everything,” she whispered, voice breaking. “My whole life… and he never valued it.”

Roy’s hand rose to cup her face, gently wiping away the tears with his thumb. “Don’t cry, Coco.”

She swallowed hard, drawing in a shuddering breath.

He kissed the crown of her head softly. “After this vacation, we go back to Dirty South.”

She looked up at him, eyes shining with a mix of hope and uncertainty. “For what?”

“To win,” he said, voice steady and fierce. “To win the governorship election. And to give this city to you. To give you what you deserve.”

Coco allowed herself a fragile smile. The long road ahead suddenly felt possible.

Roy smiled back, pressing a tender kiss to her lips, sealing their unspoken promise.

Six months later, the air was thick with excitement and the roar of the crowd. Dirty South’s streets pulsed with life, vibrant banners fluttered in the wind, and the voices of hopeful supporters echoed through the alleys and avenues. The city had waited for change. Now, that change was here. Roy was the new governor. He won fairly against Chief Kaave.

Roy stood on the grand stage, the weight of victory resting comfortably on his shoulders. The crowd’s cheers thundered in his ears, a testament to months of hard work, sacrifice, and unwavering resolve.

Beside him, Coco shone with radiant strength. Her eyes sparkled beneath the bright stage lights, reflecting the journey that had brought them here, the battles fought, the love rediscovered.

Roy pulled her close, lips brushing hers in a kiss that spoke of promises kept and futures forged.

“This city is yours now,” he whispered into her ear, voice thick with emotion. “You’re the Queen of Dirty South.”

Coco’s heart swelled. The endless nights of pain and struggle melted away in that moment, replaced by a soaring sense of triumph and belonging.

The crowd roared again, but for Coco, all she heard was the steady beating of Roy’s heart against hers and to her that was a rhythm of hope, love, and a future they would build together.
