Chapter 183 My Comfort

Chapter 183 My Comfort
Lana's POV

I managed to drive home from work. I was not feeling great due to what happened to me at work today. I still feel sick and I feel disappointed in the progress that I have made for three years. All of that, down the drain because someone decided to show up at Sternpoint. I need to know who Lucinda's husband is.

I entered the apartment, Arden walked towards me with concern on his face as he held a glass of water in one hand. "Are you okay? You look pale? Are you sick?" he asked as he stood in front of me. I had my handbag in one hand. I simply didn't have the energy to talk or to do anything.

"I just don't feel well," I managed to say, as weak as I felt.

"What is wrong? Do you need to see a doctor?" He was worried and I don't blame him because of the baby.

"I bumped into Lucinda at Sternpoint with Charl." Arden seemed concerned about that. "Apparently, her husband had a meeting there and I want to know who that is and who just decided to allow him there. I don't even know if uncle Mariko did that because he is away for meetings. I had a panic attack after seeing her and then memories of your father came back," I looked down. I didn't want to look at Arden and see Gerard either. I'm forcing myself to push that feeling away and be the person that conquered these things with the help of Arden.

"Lana," he said as he placed the glass of water on the kitchen counter beside us. He cupped the sides of my face with both of his hands. Forcing me to look at him, into those magnetic blue eyes. "You are great and you will do great at overcoming this again. These things happen and Gerard is away for a very long time. I do not know what it will for him to get out, but that chance is so slim. So do not be afraid and do not worry. I am here and I will protect you from anyone," he said.

"Is that why you were at the coffee shop earlier? To protect me?" I asked.

"Miranda wanted me to hang out with her. She wanted to go to the coffee shop and I just went with her," he said as he removed both hands from my face. "I wanted to go to you, check up on you and also to see if Daniel would be behaving himself. I ran into Lucinda outside of the coffee shop as I waited for Miranda so that I could come back to the apartment. She is married with another baby. As long as she won't bother us as she did before, then be happy. I most certainly am because it was a challenge when she wanted me back. A challenge in terms of pushing her away and to get it into her head that she would never have me again after everything. I think after I threw her out of my apartment back in New York that she finally got it. She moved on." he said with a little smile.

"As long as she just doesn't bother us. But I need to find out who this man is. I won't have a peace of mind not knowing who he is and who is working or having meetings with him. That is the first thing that I will find out tomorrow," I said.

"Another thing...they are staying at the Stern hotel," Arden watched me intently for my reaction.

I let out a breath. "I cannot control things such as that. They could go to any other hotel out there but they chose the Stern hotel." I shook my head in disbelief. "I just need to rest," I walked past Arden.

"I think you should take a shower and you will feel better," he said.

"I don't have the energy," I replied over my shoulder. I wanted to get into bed and sleep. Hopefully, memories won't resurface since it has today.

Arden followed after me into our bedroom and I placed my handbag on a chair that was situated in the corner of the room. "Hey," he said softly as I wrapped his arms around me. "Everything will be okay," he tried to reassure me and I did hope that it would work on my mind, because I am dreading to close my eyes and see those images again.

His hand moved down and rested on my belly. I placed my hand on his too. "I don't know what I would ever do without you and I also want to thank you for not showing up at Sternpoint because of Daniel today, but he wasn't there, so you were worried about nothing," I smiled at him.

"I am relieved to hear that." he returned my smile. "I just want you to take care of yourself and think about the baby," he said with concern. "Do not let others get you back to that place that you worked hard on getting out of. That dark place. You always do so well and I have no doubt that you will not let that happen again, but like I said, I will still be here, to help and take care of you and our baby. I just want you both to be as healthy as possible. If you feel that you don't feel well, don't push yourself too much. This is a miracle that we wanted and we have to treat it as such and do anything we can to make sure this baby is okay," he said.

I nodded, he leaned down and placed a chaste kiss on my lips, his hand remaining on my belly. It is these moments that I love and live for. I am surprised that I handled the Daniel matter with ease and calmness. No arguments, but most importantly, having this kind of love and comfort when I get back home from work.
