Chapter 345 - Omen - mdfour
Carlina
My cell phone rang, and it was a video call from my husband.
"Lobito, it hasn't even been half an hour; we just unloaded the suitcases from Arnold's truck."
"I just wanted to know if you got to the airport safely." He had our son nestled in his baby carrier.
"Yes, love, Arnold has already left to pick them up to head to Blanco."
"Look at mommy."
My four-month-old baby made faces. Every day, I thank divine providence for Kevin coming into my life. Two damaged souls by different circumstances, and being aware of the magic of love and how it restores, Christofer was proof of that. I love my home so much.
"I love you. I'm going to say hi to the girls."
We arrived at the place where the rest were waiting. I have no clear idea of what exactly happened and why we are here. Whatever the reason, I'm going to see one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean.
"Hi, Vero," I greeted each one.
"We should go in now. How did Kevin take it?"
"Calmly, even if he doesn't say anything, I know he's not very happy. He inspected what I packed but didn't make a jealous scene like Alfredo did with Patricia. You know I don't like my scars to be visible."
"These men."
We reached the waiting room, and the four adult women soon started a conversation with three gentlemen while we laughed.
"Look at my mom, flirting," Guadalupe commented, and we burst into loud laughter.
"The only ones available are Inés and Mrs. Josefina," Luisa said.
"They're entertained," Vero added. Shirly joined us and also looked at the group of older men chatting cheerfully. We started talking about what our husbands said about the trip and couldn't stop laughing at Miguel's and Arnold's stories. After a few minutes, I felt the need to go to the bathroom. Knowing myself, it's better to go before boarding the plane.
"Shirly, will you come to the bathroom with me?" I asked.
"I'll go too!" Patricia said.
"Count me in," Diana exclaimed.
The four of us headed to the bathroom. I did my business, and while washing my hands, two men passed by in the hallway. I swear I saw a flash. Looking to my side, Diana was drying her hands, and Patricia was coming toward me.
"Did they take a picture of us?" I asked.
"It seemed like it."
"I feel dizzy, girls. Let's go out. I have lemon shells in my bag. They calm my nausea." We waited for Shirly and left. I looked around and didn't see the men. On our way back,
"Luisa," I called. She came to my side.
"What's wrong? You look worried."
"Two guys passed by and took a picture of us. I swear Patricia, Diana, and I are on the front page."
"Are you sure?" I nodded.
"I don't think they're our husbands."
We were called to board. Since our suitcases were small, each of us carried them onto the plane. We didn't check them in; we only had the jeans we were wearing and beach outfits.
"What's going on?" Vero asked.
"Carlina says two guys took a picture of them in the bathroom." We exchanged glances.
"Let's stay alert. If we see anything unusual again, we'll tell our husbands." We boarded the plane, and I called Kevin.
"Luna," I love it when he calls me that.
"We're on the plane. I'll call you as soon as we land."
"We're on our way to Blanco. Christofer already had his bottle and is snoring on my chest."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
I ended the call. I don't know, but that act by those guys left a bad taste in my mouth.
……
Roland
I'm waiting for all my friends to arrive. At least my intruders and my princess are at the age where they want to do whatever they want. I know they understand; they just pretend not to. I tell them to stay put, and they want to jump over the fence. But when I get angry, they listen.
At least the two nannies are with them in the playroom. The idea was to keep them in one place. My father-in-law came to stay these days while my mom also went on a trip.
Simón arrived with my nephews. The girls ran to me. Sergio was on his father's shoulders, who was carrying a plastic box full of toys. I kissed the girls and connected with my nephew.
"Grandpa!"
Milena ran to hug him. Every day, my father-in-law visits his grandchildren with my mother. That was their routine. One week, they visit Rata after four in the afternoon and then have dinner at my house. The next week, they switch it up.
"Take your toys to the playroom," I said. "Your cousins are there, and the rest will be here soon."
My friend went back to the truck and pulled out a bag. Everyone was staying at my house since it's the biggest ranch with enough rooms for everyone. But the kids would sleep with their parents.
We had talked to Karen, Aníbal’s sister, and Mrs. Claudia, Clari’s mom. She couldn’t travel with the group because of work at the bakery, and I thank heaven she agreed to help us take care of all these kids.
Of course, I had to make the kitchen available for her. Both she and Karen had to finish the orders for the two events they had over the weekend. The nannies would also be there, the ones we have. The only one who would have the baby with him was Lobo, and he wouldn’t say anything about Aníbal. Cristofer could go to the base.
My father-in-law and I sat on the terrace, waiting for our wives to arrive and call us. Rata went inside to drop off the kids' clothes in his old room. We had reinforced the kitchen staff to handle everything needed.
Miguel arrived with his two kids. He was the most upset. Diana was pregnant and went off gallivanting just like my mother, not to mention Verónica. Oh, of course! She was the one who promoted the trip.
"Hi, Uncle."
Isaac connected with me. How quickly they grow, thanks to the love of the Lord. Augusto did the same. They brought the race car Miguel gave his son. It seems the little Smurf inherited his father's love for those gadgets.
"Son, the car stays here. Only toys in the room now," his father told him.
"Hi, Grandpa."
The two greeted my father-in-law, and once Rata came out, they greeted him too. The two kids went to the massive playroom, dragging their toy box. Miguel set his bag of clothes aside.
"Still mad?" I asked, just to mess with him.
"Wouldn't you be? That girl is picky, all to contradict me. She's pregnant!"
"Let them be," my father-in-law commented. "This weekend, they’ll learn what their wives do to keep all those kids in line."
"Let's see how it turns out."
In fact, yesterday I wrote to Any, asking for permission to go to Antigua and Barbuda if necessary. At least if I get a whim, I can go to my wife. At the same time, Gustavo arrived with his two kids and the nanny. Daniel also arrived with his kids and his mother-in-law, who we helped unload three boxes of utensils for what she needed to do.
Mrs. Claudia was an angel. Kisses, hugs, and greetings for all the uncles from the nephews. The nanny took the newcomers, and Daniel's mother-in-law took over the kitchen. Half an hour later, Karen arrived with her kids and the baby. At that moment, an idea settled in my mind. I picked up Gregorio.
"Karen, let me take care of him for a few hours. We need to go to the base in a bit. It’s just nostalgia. Can we borrow him?" Aníbal's sister agreed.
"Sure, I'll get his bag ready with a couple of bottles while I help my boss. We have a lot of work. My kids are already grown, so I don't have to watch them constantly. Gregorio was the one who limited me. But still, Shirly needed that trip."
"Perfect."
When I looked at Simón, Miguel, Gustavo, and Daniel, they understood the surprise we were planning for Aníbal. We would bring him his son. Arnold wouldn't take long to arrive with Alfredo and Kevin, and Freddy was also on his way. Speaking of him, I saw his car arrive, followed by the rest of my team.
More greetings, more hugs. Two more nannies joined the care of that battalion of kids. Grandpa went to play with his grandchildren. My team unloaded the bags, and I was already waiting for them in the office. The only babies were Gregorio and Cristofer, Aníbal’s son, who wasn’t walking yet, though he was crawling.
"Aníbal is going to die when he sees his son," Rata commented.
"We need to take advantage of the opportunity," I replied.
"In about twenty minutes, our wives' flight lands," Miguel said.
"Hey, wizard!" Arnold shouted. We looked at Gustavo. "When you start scratching your beard, I don't like it. It’s a bad omen."
