199 - Sneak Peek: Mia
Ever have a day where the whole world gives you the middle finger? - Mia
Sunday evening finally rolled around and Mia fixed dinner for her and the twins. It was ready shortly after five and sat on the table until seven. Donald never called or answered her calls.
Once again she called the kid’s phones which went straight to voicemail. She opened the Wolf Pack app for her brother’s security company. Neither phone appeared on the Find Me feature indicating that they were turned off.
It was Donald’s visitation weekend. He technically had them until school started Monday morning. He hated getting them ready for school. Their uniforms hung in the closets upstairs. He always dropped them off well before Sunday dinner. The police officer said that they could not do anything until Monday.
School started at 8:10. By 8:30, they still were not there. At the end of the first class, she called the police department again. An officer came to the school and took a report. The principal sent Mia home, if they showed up at the school someone would call.
Monday ended and the kids still were not home. Tuesday morning, she was sitting on the couch watching the sun come up. Tuesday night, there still was nothing. Wednesday morning and the cop she talked to blew her off. She called again around noon and was told that since he had custody, she could not demand that he bring them to her, she would have to wait for her visitation.
This made no sense to her since she was the custodial parent. She got dressed in one of her nicer dresses and took her divorce decree and custody papers to the police department.
“I’m sorry Mrs. Grigsby.” The detective told her, handing the papers back to her. “Your ex-husband has more recent papers showing that he is the custodial parent. There is nothing that we can do.”
“When did you see these papers?” Mia asked, her bright blue eyes sparkling with anger.
“Monday.”
“I have been sitting at home, waiting for any type of news to find out if my kids are alive, for the past three days, and you know where they are? Did you ever think to tell their mother that they were alive?” she asked him.
“Your husband said that you were only allowed supervised visitations and that you’ve tried stuff like this before.”
“Tried what?” she spat out. “Reporting my kids missing? Did you find any previous reports?”
At this point, Mia was beyond pissed. Before she ended up spending the night in jail, she decided to leave. Out in her car, she tried calling her ex, and then the kids again. Nothing. She called her mom, but she was in the middle of the ocean on a cruise. Then she called her four brothers. Left messages and prayed for a miracle that she was sure was not going to happen.
She contacted her lawyer’s office only to find out that he had retired last month after a debilitating heart attack. They would take her case for only $175 an hour. She didn’t have an extra $75 much less an unknown number of hours at $175. She had been a pro bono case before and currently, the office had exceeded the set number of pro bono cases.
Mia called her younger brother but got his voicemail again stating that he was probably riding and couldn’t hear the phone, but if you leave him a message he'd call back as soon as he could. After the divorce and her brothers had returned from the service, they had laid out the same rules their dad and granddad had.
The rules and her banishment from the clubhouses came after multiple brothers were caught jacking off to pictures of her from the competitions when she was still a teen.
Don’t date a biker.
Never accept a ride on the back of a bike.
Don’t ask about what the club does.
And, unless it was an emergency, never come to the clubhouses.
Her kids had been kidnapped by their father. He had false documents showing that he had custody of the kids. The police were doing nothing.
If this was not an emergency, she did not know what was.
She walked into the autoshop side of the clubhouse and saw some of the roughest and meanest looking men she had ever seen. And she had grown up around bikers. But these guys took it farther than when she was little. Or maybe she just remembered through the idealistic memories of a child.
Tattoos, piercings, leather. All the things she remembered and loved. All the things that led to the deaths of her dad and granddad.
She wanted to swallow her fear, but knew if she did, the gulping sound would give her away. Instead, she pictured them as unruly students and her fear disappeared.
“I need to speak with Chance.” Mia told the man behind the counter. He stood well over six feet and was broad and muscular. Long brown hair, dark brown eyes and a deep tan on already dark skin that was covered with black ink tattoos. He wore blue jeans that hugged his legs and black boots with chains around the ankles. He wore a tight t-shirt under the open cut that proudly displayed his six pack abs.
As she appraised him, he did the same to her. Just over five and a half feet and the three-inch heels made her stand just under six feet. Long straight black hair and brilliant blue eyes sparkled in anger. She wore a fitted pale blue sleeveless dress with a dark grey cardigan that had slightly slipped off her right shoulder. Voluptuous curves at her breasts and hips showed that she had born children. He appreciated the narrow waist and the soft curves of her cheeks and kissable full lips.
“He’s a little busy right now.” Chevy said with a grin. “I’m more than willing to help you.”
“Then go get Chance,” Mia said.
Knowing that by busy, the man meant that Chance was with one of the club bunnies. If he wasn’t in class, he was with a woman. Or working on getting into one.
Celt recognized Mia and went to get Chance. He had only seen her a few times and it was always from a distance. Even from the distance that he had been kept at, she had caught his attention.
Ignoring the sign on the door, he opened the door and saw Chance being ridden by one of the club girls, Chrissy. She was a bottle blonde with black roots and dark brown eyes. She was thin with large fake breasts.
“The fuck, man?” Chance yelled.
“Mia is downstairs,” Celt said as he leaned against the doorframe. “She’s asking for you.”
“Get off,” Chance commanded.
“I’m trying to,” she purred, continuing to move on him. He moved her off him and rolled off the bed. Chrissy was pouting as he walked into the bathroom to dispose of the condom before coming back and pulling on his jeans.
Chrissy was trying to get Celt to pay attention to her, but he simply ignored her.
