194 - Apartment
So, let me get this straight, we moved Vin into this apartment above your garage just so he could live in an apartment with Colton in Boston while he attends college in Cambridge? - Trigg
The furniture was moved in and new curtains and blinds ordered for the windows for Camille and Darkness’ new house. Vin’s apartment above the garage was set up and ready for him whenever he was home. A few days later, he and Colton moved into the apartment roughly fifteen minutes from campus.
Both of them took their bikes and shared a single parking spot in the multistory garage. Sid also left them with one of her Jeep Wranglers for grocery shopping, bad weather and dates. Charlotte and Camille both rolled their eyes at their mother.
“Mom,” Charlotte said as she stocked the kitchen with new dishes and glassware. “They have classes, practice, games and parties. They don’t have time for dates.”
“Colton!” Camille called as he came down the entryway hall. She tossed a box at him and caught it with one hand and tucked it like a football.
“Did you just give my son a box of condoms?” Charlotte asked her youngest sister.
Grinning at her sister, Camille shrugged, “It’s not like I need them.”
Charlotte continued to look at her in confusion as she tossed a second box to her own son. Vin caught it with two hands and cheered when he did not drop it.
“That was not a very impressive catch,” Colton teased.
“Maybe not for a receiver,” Vin countered. “But for a tackle it was damn good.”
“Boys,” Trigg called as he pushed the dolly loaded with flat pack boxes into the living room. “These are for one of the bedrooms, I don’t know which.”
“I bought the same for both rooms,” Sid told her husband as she looked at her phone. “The couch and electronics should be here in about an hour.”
“Woman, what all did you buy?” he demanded as he left the boxes in the first bedroom.
“Don’t even!” Sid looked at him with fire in her eyes.
Camille and Charlotte looked at each other before going down on their knees to take cover behind the kitchen counter from their mother’s wrath and father’s reaction. Werewolf grabbed Darkness by the arm and pulled him back down the entry hall and out of the apartment. Colton pointed to the empty bedroom and Vin nodded and they went inside, closing the door behind them.
“What I spent on furniture does not even come close to what you have spent on custom bikes for the boys. They are going to be here for at least three years, and they-“
Trigg knew how to push his wife’s buttons and how to get her riled up. Leaving the dolly where it was sitting, he stalked towards his wife. His mouth crashed onto hers, cutting off her rant as he pushed her towards the wall behind her. When her back hit the wall, he caged her in with his arms on either side of her head.
Dutch entered the apartment, approaching his parents and spraying them with the cold water in the spray bottle. It had started as a deterrent for his oldest daughter’s cat, and he inadvertently discovered that it worked on his parents too. After nearly a month of Camile and her family living with them, the couple was ready to get their freak on.
“What the fuck?” Trigg demanded as he wiped at the cold water on his hair. “How the hell is that so damn cold?”
Shaking the spray bottle, Dutch caused the ice to rattle. “Ice water seems to work best for Snowball.”
“The damned cat?” Sid asked.
“The damned cat, your pussy, same results,” their oldest son shrugged.
Charlotte made a gagging sound from her hiding place in the kitchen. “Can we please quit discussing our mother’s pussy?”
“Please quit making that noise,” Camille softly pleaded.
Being the oldest, Charlotte grinned at her sister before making the sound even more. Camille stood up and braced her hands on the counter. Chuckling, Charlotte stood up and gagged one more time before she saw that her sister looked like she was going to be sick.
“Camille?” Charlotte said gently as she placed a hand on her sister’s shoulder.
She brushed off the gentle touch and rushed across the hall to the bathroom. She did not quite get the door closed as she knelt in front of the toilet and began to throw up. Charlotte looked through the pass through between the kitchen and living room.
“Is Camille okay?”
“I’ll get Darkness,” Trigg said moving away from his wife, “you get some water.”
“Green tea is better for her,” Darkness said as he pulled the door closed. “Water comes back up when she is like this.”
“Vin!” Sid called out and the bedroom door opened with Vin covering his eyes with his free hand.
“Yes, Oma?”
“Your mom needs some green tea,” Sid told him.
He dropped his hand and looked around the apartment. Camille was nowhere to be seen, but Darkness stood outside the bathroom. Sounds of someone being sick filtered through the hollow wood door.
“Hey, Ton, where’s that little store?” Vin asked over his shoulder.
Colton seemed to think for a moment, “There’s a 7 Eleven about two or three miles from here. I can take the bike and be back in about ten or so.”
“Please, if there’s anything closer, that would be great,” Sid said and Colton nodded as he headed out of the apartment.
The toilet flushed and then the water turned on. Charlotte dug through a bag on the kitchen counter and found a hand towel. She handed it to Darkness just as the bathroom door started to open. He gently wiped off his wife’s face with one end of the towel as she used the other end to dry her hands.
When they were both done, he tossed the towel onto his shoulder and pulled her close to his chest. She wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her cheek against his chest. Rubbing gentle circles on her back, Darkness kissed the top of his wife’s head.
“Colton has gone to get you some green tea,” he murmured.
“Momma C,” Vin said, “me and Opa can get the bed put together and you can lay down.”
“Or you can go lay on one of the mattresses in the office. Den,” Sid made a confused face. “What are you guys calling the front room?”
Vin chuckled, “It’s labeled as a den on the floor plan. We’ve been calling it the front room.”
“Whatever the room,” Camille said, “I just want to lay down.”
Sid grabbed the small toolbox and handed it to Dutch. “Help your nephew start putting furniture together.”
“Better idea,” Dutch suggested. “I’ll leave Opa and the engineering student to put the furniture together and I’ll go help the wolf boy bring the rest of the boxes up.”
“That works,” Trigg pressed a kiss to Sid’s cheek. “Go take care of your little girl.”
“Come on, wolf boy,” Dutch said as he handed the spray bottle to his older sister.
