SURROUNDED BY A STRANGE FORCE
SURROUNDED BY A STRANGE FORCE
The scene was one of utter devastation. Bodies lay scattered across the ground, torn apart as if by a wild beast. Blood stained the grass, its metallic scent mixing with the strange magical energy in the air. The wounded cried out in pain, their voices a haunting chorus of despair. It was a nightmare come to life.
“Goddess,” Delilah whispered, her hand flying to her mouth as she took in the carnage.
“What happened here?” Beta Cross shouted, his voice filled with anger and disbelief as he confronted the survivors.
“It was the King,” one of them replied, their voice trembling with fear. “He did this to his own people.”
“No!” Delilah screamed, her voice breaking. “He would never do this. This isn’t his scent. I’m sure of it!” She refused to believe it, her loyalty to her mate unshakable.
“What do you know?” Elder Zane interjected, his voice cold and accusing as he stepped forward. “Do you know him like we do? He grew up before our eyes. We know what he’s capable of.” His gaze shifted to the bodies, his expression grim. “He did this. Only he is capable of such destruction.”
Delilah shook her head, her eyes blazing with defiance. “I don’t believe you. And I’ll prove it to all of you. He didn’t do this.”
“Delilah, please, get a grip,” Elder Zane said, his tone softening slightly. “I understand how you feel, but you must face the truth.”
“Where did he go after… after this?” Delilah asked, her voice breaking, almost not audible.
“According to the survivors, he ran into the forest,” Elder Zane replied. “Some of our warriors and Rosa, the healer, have gone after him.”
Delilah turned to Beta Cross, her resolve hardening. “I need to find him myself. You know I can do it. Don’t you?”
Beta Cross met her gaze, his eyes filled with a mixture of concern and determination. After a moment, he nodded. “Alright. You can come with me.”
“You’re making a mistake,” Elder Zane warned, his voice rising. “The forest is dangerous. You shouldn’t be going in there.” But his words fell on deaf ears. Delilah and Beta Cross were already moving, their steps quick and purposeful as they disappeared into the dense trees.
The forest was unnaturally quiet, the usual sounds of wildlife absent. Delilah’s heart beat erratically, her instincts screaming that something was terribly wrong. She could feel it in the air, in the way the trees seemed to close in around them. But she pushed forward, driven by the need to find her mate and uncover the truth.
As they ventured deeper into the forest, they began to hear faint voices. Beta Cross signaled for Delilah to stay quiet, and she nodded in understanding. They moved carefully, each step deliberate as they tried to pinpoint the source of the sounds. But they weren’t alone. High above them, hidden among the branches, Lycan rogues watched their every move, their eyes gleaming with malice.
“Something feels off,” Beta Cross whispered, his voice so low, Delilah almost couldn't hear him.
“I feel it too,” Delilah replied, her voice equally soft. “We’re surrounded by a strange force. But I still can’t make sense of it.”
Before they could react, a loud clang echoed through the forest. A massive metal cage crashed down around them, trapping them instantly. Delilah’s breath caught in her throat as she realized the gravity of their situation. They were no longer the hunters, they were the prey.
The tension in the air was palpable as the rogues emerged from the shadows, their eyes glowing with a predatory gleam. Delilah’s mind raced, searching for a way out, but the cage was unyielding. Beta Cross stood protectively in front of her, his body tense and ready for a fight. But even he knew the odds were against them.
As the rogues closed in, Delilah’s heart pounded in her chest. She could feel the strange magical energy growing stronger, almost suffocating. Whatever was happening, it was far bigger than she had imagined it.
She knew that something was wrong the moment she stepped into Shadow Claws Pack. And right now, the answers she seeks are right here before her. Although she feared there are mor
