Chapter 18
Killian
My smile slipped as soon the door shut behind me. This fucker had the nerve to scare my wife. I moved towards the basement and saw Jonah standing in front of it waiting for me. “This needs to end. Soon.” I told him and pushed the door open.
I was prepared to find one of my men sitting there and a smile graced over my face at what state he was in. I turned to Jonah and saw the same satisfaction in his eyes. My brother hated to see women hurt and he hurt one of our own. That was enough for him to put Alex in the condition he was in.
His all ten nails were pried out and his hands were nailed down on the table in front of him.
I approached Alex slowly, taking in every detail of his terrified expression. The basement was dimly lit, casting shadows that danced across his face, accentuating the fear etched into his features. His eyes darted between me and Jonah, pleading for mercy that he knew he wouldn't receive.
I leaned in closer, the faint scent of his urine assaulting my senses. Disgust churned in the pit of my stomach, but I suppressed it, focusing on the task at hand. I needed answers, and Alex was going to give them to me one way or another.
"Let's cut to the chase, Alex," I said, my voice low and dangerous. "You thought you could betray me today? Scare my wife and get away with it? You thought wrong."
Alex's muffled cries grew louder, his body trembling against the restraints that held him in place. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. Pathetic.
"Take the gag out," I instructed Jonah, not bothering to look at him. I knew he would comply without question.
Jonah stepped forward and removed the cloth from Alex's mouth, revealing the terror-stricken face of the man who had dared to threaten my family.
"Please, Boss, I didn't mean—" Alex's words were cut off by a sharp slap across his face. His head snapped to the side, a red welt forming on his cheek.
"Don't lie to me," I growled, my patience wearing thin. "I know exactly what you meant to do. I just want to know. Why Alex? I took you in when you needed us the most. What could Tony possibly offer you that you werent getting from us?"
Tears streamed down Alex's face as he sobbed uncontrollably. I felt nothing but contempt for him, a man who preyed on the vulnerable without remorse.
"Tell me. NOW." I demanded, my voice cold and unwavering.
"I-I can't," Alex stammered, his eyes darting around the room as if searching for an escape. "He'll kill my son."
I stiffened at his words and turned to look at Jonah. He shook his head back at me. He did not have a son. Not that we knew off.
A humorless chuckle escaped my lips. "You dont have a son Alex. Dont lie to me. You think we dont know whats going on in our mens life?"
Jonah watched silently from the sidelines, his expression excited yet filled with a quiet intensity. He knew as well as I did that there was no room for mercy in our world.
"Please, Killian," Alex pleaded, his voice trembling. "I promise i do. I just found out last month. Tony got to him. His name is Marcio. He is six months old. I was supposed to take Mrs Knight out to the main door. That's all. I didnt know what he had planned. I'll do anything—"
"Anything?" I interrupted, a cruel smile tugging at the corners of my lips. "Funny, because I was just thinking the same thing."
I motioned for Jonah to bring me the toolbox that sat nearby, filled with an assortment of tools that promised pain and suffering. Jonah handed it to me without a word, his eyes betraying nothing as he watched the scene unfold.
I selected a pair of pliers and held them up for Alex to see, relishing in the fear that flickered in his eyes.
"Let's start with something simple, shall we?" I said, my voice dripping with malice.
I grabbed hold of one of Alex's fingers and clamped the pliers around it, ignoring his screams of agony as I applied pressure. The sound of bone crunching beneath the metal sent a thrill of satisfaction coursing through me, fueling the darkness that lurked within.
"Do you have any idea what could have happened? What if Marcella would have been hurt?" I repeated, my voice low and dangerous.
"I-I’m sorry. P-Please boss," Alex gasped, tears streaming down his face.
I sighed in frustration, releasing his finger from the grip of the pliers. "Take him to Doc and throw him out.”
Jonah raised his eyebrow at me but did not question me further. Before Marcella, I would have taken him out but now, thinking about the child, something stopped me.
I left the room, leaving his cries behind. I had to get this thorn named Tony out of my life. He had fucked up enough of my life.
I walked into my office and dialed a number I had been dreading to do so. But it was time.
“Alessio.” A voice grunted over the phone and I grimaced.
“Its Killian. I need a favor.” I knew what I was doing was going to come bite me in the ass. But I had to think about a lot now.
The door opened and Dom came in with his laptop open in his arms. He motioned for me to see something on his screen and I moved to stand beside him. It was surveillance of Tony and Marcellas sister, Ana. She was sitting on his lap, whatever was left of it that wasn't covered by his stomach endanger shot through me.
“What do you need?” I heard Alessio's voice and snapped out of my anger for now and shot a look at Dom to sit down and wait.
“I need to know if Tony has any shipments going through?”
“Why is that?” His voice, cooler than mine, came through. He knew Tony and I never got along. The history was not hidden.
“He attacked my shipment this morning. I need to put an end to him.”
“I’ll send you a list.” a moment later. My phone beeped. “You owe me big Knight. And make sure he is dead before we speak again. I have a feeling it will be soon.”
I hung up and forwarded the list to Jonah and Dom and then moved to stand behind Dom and look at his screen again. Now They were both laughing at something and the anger I felt for Anastasia was unlike anything.
Her sister was in this situation because of her. The fear she felt today was because of her. The sight of her laughing and enjoying was burning rage through me.
I clenched my jaw, feeling the weight of responsibility pressing down on me. I couldn't let Tony continue to wreak havoc in my territory. I had to put an end to him once and for all. But seeing Ana's betrayal to her sister only fueled my determination.
"Keep an eye on them.” I ordered Dom, my voice clipped with anger. "I want to know every move they make, every connection they have. Every. Single. Thing.”
Dom nodded, his fingers flying over the keyboard as he accessed databases and surveillance systems. He was one of the best hackers in the business, and I knew he wouldn't disappoint me.
As Dom worked, I paced the room, my mind racing with plans and contingencies. I needed to be smart about this. Tony was dangerous, but I was determined to take him down, no matter the cost.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed with a message from Jonah. I opened it to find the list of Tony's shipments. There were several going through various ports and warehouses, but one in particular caught my eye. It was scheduled to arrive at a warehouse on the outskirts of town tomorrow night.
"That's our target," I said, showing the message to Dom. "Get everything you can on that warehouse. We attack tomorrow."
Dom nodded, his focus shifting to the new task at hand. I watched him work for a moment before turning my attention back to the surveillance footage. Tony and Ana were still laughing, blissfully unaware of the storm that was brewing around them.
As the hours passed, my anger simmered into a cold, calculated determination. I couldn't afford to let my emotions cloud my judgment. This was business, nothing more.
Eventually, Dom finished his research, and we had a plan in place. Tomorrow night, we would strike the warehouse, seize Tony's shipment, and put an end to his reign of terror once and for all.
But as I prepared for the battle ahead, one thought nagged at the back of my mind: what would happen to Ana? Despite her betrayal, she was still Marcella's sister. Could I really bring myself to harm her?
I pushed the thought aside, steeling myself for the task at hand. In this world, there was no room for sentimentality. I had a job to do, and I would see it through to the end, no matter what it took.
With a final glance at the surveillance footage, I left my office, my mind already focused on the battle that lay ahead. Tony may have thought he had the upper hand, but he had severely underestimated the power I had.
And tomorrow night, he would pay the price for his arrogance.
