88. Hidden Enemy!

Veronica's POV

"I love you"

I looked at him with smile when he said that but I couldn't reply to that.

I just couldn't!

He looked at me with pain in his eyes and I looked away. It's been months and I am still not able to confess my love for him. Something stops me, may be his betrayal or his past lies.

Sometimes I say it but he instantly realizes it that I don't mean it and he doesn't want to hear it from me unless I am saying it with my heart.

I am just facing difficulties, I know he loves me but whatever happened in the past is something which has left deep wounds on my heart and ability to express.

I want to stay with Vlad. I know he is trying hard to be a better man for me but I need my time to become old Vera.

"I'll hear it from you soon... "

He kissed my head and sighed.

"I need to go to the hospital today... "

I got up while fixing my shirt, which is basically his shirt.

"I'll drop you. "

He sat up.

"No, I don't want to bother you. "

I mumbled.

I gasped when he pulled me back by grabbing my arm. I fell in his lap, my face banged on his torso and my shirt rod upward, hiding nothing.

I glared at him while taking support of my elbows.

He grabbed my face in his large hand and squeezed it.

"Your glaring doesn't scare me, It only excites me."

He caressed my pouted lips with his thumb and smirked.

"They look so beautiful while wrapped around my___"

I slapped his hand away and sat up. He chuckled, bastard!

"What is it? "

I was about to get out of the bed but he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me back.

"What's bothering you? "

He kissed my neck.

"You! "

I answered and he tensed.

"I won't hurt you, not again! "

He rested his face on back of my neck.

"How do I trust you? "

I asked and he went silent.

"How are you gonna make me believe that you won't lie to me? "

"I would lie where your safety is priority"

He started.

"This is what I don't want... I am your wife and our relationship should be based on trust... If you keep lying to me then how should I trust you... "

I turned around and looked at him.

"Be honest with yourself, Vlad... You are a criminal and you are evil, egoistic man who hurts people... Your change of attitude toward me doesn't mean you are safe for other people too... Would you have let Grace go if she wasn't pregnant? No! You did it because her life was in danger. Her love doesn't matter to you. You don't care about emotions. "

"They don't deserve her and you can't change my mind. "

He replied.

"You are letting your ego win... She calls you everyday but you don't talk to her, She is your sister for whom you endangered your life... "

"She chose him, she can either have me in her life or him... She made her choice... There is no way, I am bending in front of them... Not for anyone. "

He let me go and got out of the bed.

"She is a mother now, you have only talked to her once that too because you thought they hurt her. Don't you want to see her babies... I know you want to, then why so much ego... "

I asked.

"You know my answer. "

He sounds so emotionless.

"They are my enemies and now she is one of them. "

She is fucking calling him everyday single day and he is calling her enemy.

"How can you be so heartless? Everything is so business for you... Do you even love me or you see benefits in our relationship too..."

His eyes snapped towards me and I realized that I have hurt him really bad.

His eyes looks so hurt. He didn't reply and just walked away silently.

"Vlad? "

I called him but he didn't stop.

Tears slipped from my eyes, I am sorry but you have to let that ego go, Vlad. I know you are dying to see Grace but your ego is not letting you do that.

You can't love someone until you let your ego go.

Everything you do is not right. Just because you have power, doesn't mean you can manipulate the life of other people.

I got ready and went downstairs towards the dining hall, Vlad is still silent. He haven't say a word since our argument. He is not even looking at me.

We had our breakfast in silence and I walked out. Did I really went overboard?

He looks hurt.

He left for his work after that.

"Why is he so mad? "

Mila asked while feeding Rose.

"We had an argument"

I sighed.

"He is so stubborn and doesn't want to let it go. "

"You are married to mafia, don't forget that. "

Mila chuckled.

"He promised me that he will try to change. "

I caressed Rose's head and she giggled at me.

"He is still hiding things from me, you know. He didn't tell me that he is giving training to Ryaan. "

"Ummhh! "

She cleared her throat.

I know that she knew about it but I can't say anything to her.

"He is my brother, I know how I have saved him and he doesn't think it's important to tell me."

"Because may be he knew that you will act like this."

She replied.

"Am I not right to act like this... And that's okay, he told me that it's just so he could protect himself but at least inform me... "

I huffed.

"And about Grace... He said that, she is his enemy. "

"Your husband is difficult, I can't do anything in that..."

She chuckled.

"What would you do if Michelle does something like this. "

I asked.

She shrugged.

"You will find him in hospital next day, under your supervision. "

"It's not funny... I am really tired of this. "

I grabbed my purse and pecked Rose's head.

"Have a nice day. "

She laughed and I rolled my eyes while walking out.

Thank god, I am in hospital today, at least I'll be distracted.

I went to my cabin and after sometime heard a knock on my door.

"Come in"

I looked up and my smile fell.

"What are you doing here? "

Josh walked in.

"Please hear me out. "

He stopped in front of my desk.

"I am so sorry for whatever happened, I didn't mean it... You know I am not like this... Please forgive me. "

He pleaded.

"What were you thinking? "

I asked.

"I am sorry... I don't know what happened... We had such a good relation... I fucked up. "

He sighed.

"I know you will not forgive me but please know that I am feeling terrible... "

"Okay... "

I am not going to forgive him yet.

"Are you done or there is something else?"

"Actually, we have received new equipments... I think you should have a look, I feel something is wrong. "

He said.

"What's wrong? "

I frowned.

"You will know once you see it. "

He said.

I got up and we went to equipment area. It's a big room with big and small equipments.

I don't see anything wrong here.

"What's wrong? "

I asked.

"You! "

He answered and my eyes snapped towards him.

"You are doing it all wrong. "

"Are you crazy? "

I scowled.

"Says the woman who married her kidnapper. The man who abuses you... How many times I tried to make you understand but you are so fucking dumb."

His expressions are changed. He doesn't look like a Josh whom I know.

"And who the fuck are you to tell me that? "

I snapped back.

"Because I want you"

He grabbed my arm.

"I love you so much, Vera... "

He sniffed my hair and I cringed.

I tried to push him but he is so strong.

"Leave me you psycho."

"You will learn to respect me and don't worry, I won't let you waste your life with that man... Let's go to our world. "

He chuckled like a maniac.

"Leave me... Help! "

Before I could struggle he stabbed syringe in my neck and tears escaped from my eyes.

"He will kill you. "

I mumbled as my limbs gave up on me.

"He will get killed before reaching out to me. "
