Chapter Sixty--He Bought Me A New World To Believe In
“You are very hardheaded.”
“Yup.” I swung my legs over the lounge and stood. I glanced over my shoulder. “Deal with it.”
“Now where are you going?”
“To have a shower.” I swayed on my feet.
“You need sleep.”
I shivered and looked at my feet. “Yeah, I get that.”
He rose to every inch of his imposing height. “Why do you fear sleep?”
“I don’t.”
“You reek of fear,” he mused. “It is the change. You’re afraid to sleep and not wake up again.” I didn’t answer. “Beautiful, how long do you expect to survive without food and rest? Carmen had to all but shovel food into your mouth.”
“My stomach has been upset is all. I go through ten-minute intervals of being starving, but then hours of disgust with everything.”
“Did you tell Carmen this?”
“No. It’s just stress.”
He tipped my head, to gaze at me in the low light from the torches. “Perhaps. Come. We shall take a shower together.”
The house was silent as we entered.
“Where is everyone?”
“After much debate and reassurance none of us would harm you, Syber took Lola back to his cabin. Sadie and Bianca are under explicit orders to stay in their home until called, and not harm one another.” He cocked his head. “Lexi is watching a movie with Quinn and Carmen. I sent out Roman and Dorian to run the perimeter.”
“Did you ask Roman about the clean up?”
He nodded. “He was worried about you, and rushed through. He sends his apologizes for his inattention to the matter.”
Unease cut through our conversation, as he led to his bedroom.
“I’d like to go home and get some of my stuff. I’m sure Lola does too. I don’t like having to borrow everything from Lexi and Carmen.”
The muscles in his back clenched. “That can be arranged.”
I tagged along into the bathroom. His movements were jerky, possessing none of his usual grace that reminded me of the water flowing over smooth rocks in a creek. He reached into the shower, turned on the spray, and tested the temperature with his hand.
“What’s the matter?”
Kalvyn nudged my arms up, as he pulled my shirt over my head. He avoided my gaze.
“I expect too much.”
“Such as?”
“You do not think my home as yours.”
“Do you?”
“Yes.”
I kicked off my shorts and underwear. Stepping under the hot water instantly attacked my knotted muscles. I scanned the selection of shampoos and conditioners. No way one guy used all of this stuff. I picked up an unopened rose scented soap.
“I wasn’t sure what you’d prefer. I had Carmen purchase you a variety of items while you...slept. Lexi aided her, since she is much closer to your age. I hope they are to your liking.”
I smiled. “Thank you for being so considerate. I don’t say that nearly enough.”
“Just you being here with me, is more than enough thanks.”
A jolt of clarity came to me. I wasn’t the only one who needed reassurance. The extent of that realization filled me with shame. When had I become so self-centered? Making demands on him, and denying him everything.
He turned to leave.
“Are you coming in?” I dumped a lot of shampoo into my palm, and lathered.
“Is that an invitation?”
“Yes.”
He stood in the center of the bathroom, a mixture of sadness and hope. He seemed at a loss for words. In a burst of movement, he ripped his tank off, and stepped from his shorts. Of course, he was barefoot.
My hands froze in my hair. How had I gotten so lucky? Scary stuff aside, what better man could I have asked for?
He stepped into the shower, as I rinsed my hair. I loved watching the beads of water course over his body. He reached past me, to collect the washcloth and body soap.
“I love your body,” he said, awe lengthening the syllables, rolling off his tongue.
In long, sweeping strokes, he washed my skin, starting at my shoulders, down my arms. He massaged my hands, before shifting to my torso. His hand trailed after the cloth, reviving nerve-endings, calling desire to life.
He went to his knees, lifting my leg and draping my thigh over his shoulder. He leaned in to kiss my stomach. The devotion humbled me. His strong, sure hands molding my flesh thawed my tension.
The spray rinsed the soap, followed by his tongue over my abdomen. “I love how you taste. Your scent when you’re eager for me. I will never get enough of either.”
Lower, please lower, I silently begged. My womb convulsed as he compiled, nibbling his way over my smooth mound, catching my clit with his tongue. One lick, all it took. He growled, pushing me through the water, to the chilly tile behind. The shocking sensation against my heated skin jolted my lower body, pushing against his probing licks.
His teeth grazed my sensitive flesh, dragging a ragged groan from my throat.
He drew back, licked his lips. “Scream for me, Katrina. I need to hear my name on your lips as I make you come.”
His head darted back between my legs, arm banding around my waist when my knees gave out. I rolled the back of my head on the tile as his fingers penetrated me.
I caught his soaking hair between my fingers, and ground down on his mouth as my spine bowed despite his hold on me. Warmth low in my body lit to a firestorm, a tantalizing pleasure, flooding through my body.
He continued to stroke me. “What is my name?”
“Kalvyn,” I shrieked.
“What am I?”
I panted.
He strokes lessened, and I growled in frustration. “Katrina, what am I?”
“My mate,” I wheezed.
“Who do you belong to?”
“You.”
He chuckled darkly. He didn’t miss a beat as he climbed to his feet. Water poured over his succulent body as I dragged his lips to mine, tasting myself in his mouth. His thumb found my clit, and I orgasmed again.
“Fuck me,” I babbled against him.
“My pleasure.”
He lifted me, wrapping my legs against his waist. He pinned me against the tile, driving home in one, long, sure stroke that shattered my mind. His cock stretched me, filling me just right.
He circled his tongue around his bite mark on my shoulder, pistoning his hips. He turned the water off, never skipping a beat. He stepped from the shower, gripping my hips as he walked, encouraging me to work his erection. Together, we fell on the bed, the jostling skimming my G-spot.
He pulled my hair, leaving my neck vulnerable as he sucked the skin over my jugular in the exact rhythm of my frantically beating heart. I clawed the sheets, his back, anything within reach. We came simultaneously, a blaze of grunts, growls, and eager bodies.
I floated on a sea of contentment, mentally and physically exhausted. He repositioned us, so we lay in a comfortable tangle of limbs.
“Mmm, I still want you,” I mumbled.
He laughed. “I can accommodate that. If you sleep for a few hours.”
“Blackmail.” I yawned.
“Damn right. I’ll make it worth your while.”
“You drive a hard bargain, Mr. Colbane.” I snuggled into his side. “But, I suppose it’s a deal.”
