Chapter 192 Torture

Chapter 192 Torture
Serena’s POV

For a second, I thought I didn't hear well, I thought it was all happening in my head.

But when I blinked and everything inside me went completely still, it hit clearer.

“How?” I asked, forcing the word out much sharper than I intended, my chest rising and falling as my eyes locked onto him.

The armored man didn’t hesitate.

“That,” he said in a calm and controlled manner, “doesn’t matter.”

My jaw tightened.

Of course it didn’t.

Before I could press further, he moved, stepping towards the table and placing a compact, metallic device with a laptop on it.

He connected the device that was no bigger than a tablet, but thicker and heavier to the laptop.

The screen lit up the moment he finished punching a few things into the laptop, humming softly as faint blue light spread across it.

I stepped closer a bit with my hands wrapped around my body and watching intently..

He tapped it once and the screen flickered—then expanded out, zooming out fast.

Then the device flattened and a small beam of light spread out from it to form a projection just above the table.

And a detailed map displayed out in a well layered manner.

He tapped the screen again and the image zoomed in and the layout shifted beneath the projection as angles changed.

It quickly formed a view from the top, the one from the side and one that showed the insides.

Different buildings formed from all views, structures being outlined properly and different paths sprawling out.

The system flashed between different buildings, probably searching. Then it locked onto one.

A house or that's basically that's what it was called. Cause from here, it looked more like a fortified structure.

He tapped on the screen again and the walls peeled away digitally.

My pulse spiked as room by room, the system cut through the building like it wasn’t even there, scanning, adjusting, locking in till it stopped.

It stopped on a figure sitting in a chair with chains hooking him down.

My breath caught so hard it hurt.

Dante. He looked a mess, just like he was just a day or two ago.

His head was leaning over, hanging weakly while his arms were bound by his side and tied to the arms of the seat.

The chains looked to be digging into his wrists while his shirt was stained with blood literally everywhere.

There were marks on his face, bruises that had gone dark against his skin.

But his chest moved. Slowly, yes, but it kept moving, he kept breathing.

A sharp, painful feeling spread through me at the sight as my legs suddenly felt shaky and my hands stiffened.

My fingers pressed together and dug into my palms as I kept my eyes on the screen.

“He’s,” I started then trailed as my voice broke, barely holding together. “He’s alive.”

“Barely,” the robot guy corrected and that sparked something in me.

Something that burned through my chest and tightened around my throat.

I felt my blood boiling over with my hands twitching as everything came flooding over immediately, consuming me.

My eyes hardened as I stared at the projection, memorizing every detail of that room, every angle, every entrance.

“That son of a bitch,” I whispered, more to myself than anyone else.

Beside me, I felt Nico go rigid while Marcus swore loudly under his breath.

The room had gone silent, no one spoke a word as we all silently agreed on one thing.

Luca has to pay.

I straightened slowly. “Good, we move now.”

Nobody hesitated, nobody asked a question the moment the words left my mouth and everything shifted.

Men moved instantly.

“Get the cars ready!” Nico yelled and the men moved immediately, picking up their guns and devices.

The Russians pulled in their heavy trucks, gathering themselves and filling the trucks immediately.

The base that had been filled with tension earlier now exploded into an organized, fast and purposeful sequence.

The Russians didn’t wait for instructions. They already knew what to do, and within minutes, we were moving.

Engines roared to life as vehicles lined up with the doors slamming shut and men climbing in on all sides, armed with weapons that hummed faintly with power.

I didn’t look back.

I climbed into the vehicle with Nico and Marcus, placing the laser swords across my lap, the metal cool against my palm.

My grip tightened around it.

Hold on, Dante.

And the convoy moved at once.

The robot fellow sent the directions to all the car transmitters and phones, giving the drivers the way.

The ride went by smoothly with the weight of everything pressing down on my chest, but my mind didn’t go to Aunt Maria, didn't go to the fight ahead.

Every second brought us closer to what could probably be our end.

By the time we reached the location, the air itself felt different, like everything knew what was about to happen.

The vehicles stopped and all the doors opened. We stepped out and arranged ourselves around the building as we did before.

Nico stood beside me, and just like last time, everyone waited for his command.

He looked over to me and we shared a look for a second before I nodded and he turned to his comm device.

“Get yourselves ready men,” he whispered into the device.

“3. 2,” he paused and looked around.

A second passed and everything went still.

“1,” he whispered again and I heard him loud and clear in my ears.

“Now.”

Dante's POV

“What shall we do with him?”

“Let's wait for the boss, he'll tell us what to do.”

“This is Dante Russo, like The Mr. Russo, we can't let this opportunity pass us by.”

“What do you suggest?”

“I suggest we kill him and see off his head, we'll make tons of millions. Or better steal, we sneak him out and sell him off to a family, we'll make tens of tons of millions.”

I stirred slightly in the chair as the two men continued their little talk, probably not aware I could hear them.

I tried to move my hands but the chains clung tightly to them, even my legs couldn't shift an inch.

I looked around and I was tied up in a chair with chains hooking my arms to the chair and legs to the chair too.

My body felt weak and my eyes heavier than they'd ever been.

My hair fell over my face, getting into my mouth as beads of sweat clung to every part of my body.

The latest round of flogging left me barely breathing as Luca had his men whip me till I dropped.

NY hands hadn't stopped shaking till I fainted and my chest burned as I was wiped on both sides.

The two fellas must have noticed I had woken up as both of them stopped talking.

I guess that's the worth my life has earned, everyone wants my head now.

I pulled my head up and stared at them through blurry eyes. They must be the guards kept over me.

A cough tore through me and that's when I noticed how dry my throat was.

“Water, I need water,” I said weakly.

They murmured among themselves and started laughing wildly.

“You need water right? I'll be right back,” he said and I shook my head slightly.

Luca had left a glass of water a few feet away from me to mock me, so I knew whatever he was going to get wasn't water.

He returned a few minutes later and pushed a glass to my face.

“Drink,” he ordered and I immediately shifted my head.

The liquid reeked of urine.

“Drink!” He yelled and I felt bile rising to my mouth.

I forced my head up to meet his eyes and took a good look at his face.

Then dropped back and said nothing.

He kept pushing the glass to my face and I suddenly had the feeling he'd pour it over me.

The liquid dropped on me slightly and I longed to get a hold of his neck.

And before he could get any further, the door suddenly swung open.

“He's right here, sir,” I heard Luca say and the guard jumped, hiding the glass behind him.

“What's that smell?” Luca asked as he stepped inside.

“Nothing sir, must be Mr. Rus—the prisoner sir,” the guard shrieked and stepped aside with the glass.

He kept moving till he was out of the way and Luca walked in.

I felt a presence walk in with him as a different scent hunger over the room.

“How are you doing, Dante?” Luca asked and I grimaced.

“Oh you know what happens when you don't answer me right?”

And before I could say a word, a whip came flashing across my back.

My body barely reacted, not because I held in the pain, I was just too weak to move.

“That's good to see. I didn't come alone, I brought a friend,” he muttered and before I could look up, a deep familiar voice spoke.

“Long time, my good friend.”
