Chapter 113 ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN

Chapter 113 ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN
SHIRLEY
We had a swell time, laughing, chilling, and talking about men entirely. It was a wonderful moment, and I was glad that I didn’t miss Chloe’s invitation.
After an amazing time, Chloe left, and it was just Tess and me now.
‘She is an amazing lady,’ Tess spoke, bringing me out of my thoughts.
I nodded in agreement. ‘She really is.’
Tess continued, ‘She is tough just like me, she is funny and very dramatic too.’
‘Mmhh’
‘And she pays great attention to details like how her sharp eyes caught what I was hiding under my clothes still baffles me.’
I laughed ‘You were looking a little flushed, but I must ask who exactly is the guy who devoured you like this is? Are you going to see him again?’
Her head snapped up at once ‘Never!!’ she said quickly.
I was confused. I don’t understand. If you had such a good time with him, then what’s the issue?’
She groaned ‘It was just a fling, nothing more. I only went to the bar because the stupid guy I thought I was dating completely denied ever being in a relationship with me.’
I never knew Tess was dating someone; it wasn’t like her to keep something like that from me.
‘You were dating someone?’
She lowered her gaze. ‘I thought I was.’
‘And you kept it away from me?’ I asked, already getting angry.
She looked at me with a sad face ‘I’m sorry Shirl, I wanted to surprise you with the news. I didn’t mean to keep you in the dark.’
I sighed, ‘It’s okay, I understand I’m so special, and you wanted to wow me with the news.’
Tess rolled her eyes. ‘You think you are special?’
‘Oh, I know I’m special to you. So, what happened with this mystery man?’
Tess frowned ‘Talking about it makes me mad. Like I want to gouge his eyes out with a very hot rod, I want to grab his balls and squash them so hard, I want to cut his dick off with very sharp scissors…..I want…’
‘Okay…uhmmm, I get the picture. You were very…..specific.’
‘You have no idea how much I want to hurt this man who hurt me.’
I pulled my chair closer to her ‘This is unlike you, Tess; you never allow any man to walk over you. What really happened with this guy?’
She laughed weakly ‘For the first time in my life, I let my guard down. I believed his lies and convinced myself that I’m in a great place with him. We shared a lot together, our secrets, our goals, and our plans for the future. I started sleeping in his apartment because he wanted me to, he made me breakfast every morning, wrote me very nice, sweet notes, held my hands and professed his love for me, so I was convinced that we were dating, you know.’
I leaned back into my chair ‘That’s actually what dating sounds like’
‘Exactly what I said, and the idiot said it was all in my head. He said we were never in a relationship and that he did all those things from the goodness of his heart. God, I was so embarrassed.’
I shook my head sympathetically ‘I’m sorry, Tess, the guy is just an A hole. He doesn’t deserve you.’
She sighed ‘Yep, I know. Anyway, let's talk about something else. Chloe seems to be in a bit of drama.’
‘Yeah, with her baby daddy. It’s just a lot to deal with, being heavily pregnant and still deeply troubled.’
Tess’s voice softened. ‘It’s quite a lot, she tries to act unbothered and happy, but anyone can see through her thick mask that she is not okay.’
‘Exactly. The baby daddy situation is just getting to her’ I responded.
‘And she is still very much in love with him,’ Tess stated.
I stared at her ‘And how did you know that?’
She rolled her eyes ‘Because I’m a psychic and also because she talked about him most of the time. Women don’t spend that amount of time talking about someone they don’t care about.’
I laughed ‘Okay Tess, the relationship expert, I see you’
She chuckled ‘Whatever, girl. I just hope things get better for her really, I love her energy.’
I nodded ‘Me too’
Tess was right, though, even though Chloe spoke about how awful her baby daddy treated her in the past, you could still feel the underlying softness in her tone when she spoke about him.
That tone said a lot.
She still felt something for him.
She still had hope that they would get back together.
Love is one very annoying thing; it makes you look like a moron.
Even when someone has hurt you or treated you like shit, you can’t really stop thinking about them.
My thoughts flashed back to Aiden and then to Lucien.
I exhaled and held my head.
‘What about our precious Aiden?’ Tess asked from nowhere.
I swallowed ‘He is….fine’ I managed to answer.
‘How have things been going between the two of you?’ she asked, winking at me.
I rolled my eyes ‘Nothing is going on between us, Tess’
She hissed, ‘Liar.’
‘I’m serious. We are not dating if that’s what you are asking, the whole thing is just complicated, and it’s getting super serious, especially after what happened in the office.’
Tess gasped ‘He came to your office? I thought your stepfather didn’t like him?’
‘Not one bit, but he came anyway to take me to lunch he said. The drama can’t be described.’
Thankfully, I haven’t told Tess about sleeping with Lucien; it’s not like she would judge me or something, but it didn’t seem appropriate, none of it was appropriate anyway.
‘I love his daring spirit,’ Tess squealed excitedly.
I shook my head in disagreement ‘It wasn’t fun Tess, it was stressful as fuck.’
She laughed ‘I can imagine your stepfather hovering around, protecting you from him while he stands there challenging him. It’s a war between two incredibly handsome men.’
I shrugged.
‘What did Lucien actually do, though?’
‘He was mad and ready for a fight.’
‘Ooooohhh that’s sexy as fuck, ’ Tess said.
‘Why are you having fun with this?’
She squealed, ‘Because your life is very interesting!!’
‘Whatever,’ I said, taking a sip from my drink.
A pause.
‘I wonder what my stupid ex might be up to now,’ I said out of the blue.
She started coughing ‘Who?’
‘Jack, of course. I wonder who he is digging his dick into this time. That man is such a whore, I wonder why it took me so long to actually see how messed up he was.’
Tess responded ‘I guess’
I continued ‘It’s actually funny to me because when I was dating him, I thought he was the most handsome man I have ever met. Now, I wonder what was I thinking?’
Tess let out a nervous chuckle. ‘He is not so bad looking.’
I stared at her suspiciously. ‘You think Jack is good looking, now?’
Her eyes widened, and she choked on her drink again.
‘Tess, what’s going on with you?’
She blinked ‘Nothing’
