Chapter 70
Chapter 70
"You think I'm a jerk?" Alvin sneered, "Even if I am, I'm still better than you! You think I don't know what you've been doing behind my back?"
"What did I do?" Thea turned her face away, feeling guilty.
"You know exactly what you did!" Alvin's voice suddenly dropped, his face turning vicious as he stepped closer,
"Where did the money from our account go? That was the Anderson Family's money for Rex and Kelly!"
Thea's eyes flickered, trying to stay calm, "I... I invested it. It'll double in a while."
"Invested?" Alvin laughed like he heard the biggest joke, "Do you think I'm stupid? What could you possibly invest in?"
He grabbed her wrist, his eyes fierce, "You have three days to get the money back, or don't blame me for what happens next!"
"Let go of me!"
Alvin harshly threw her hand away, causing Thea to stumble back and hit the table behind her, a dull pain rising in her stomach.
She looked at Alvin's twisted face, fear surging in her heart.
Hearing the master bedroom door slam shut, Thea clutched her stomach and slowly crouched down, tears streaming down her face.
She quickly took out her phone, trembling as she sent a message to Bruce.
[Bruce, when will that matter be resolved? Alvin has already noticed the money is missing from the account. We need to act fast!]Soon, her phone buzzed.
Bruce's message read "Stay calm," and Thea's eyes instantly reddened.
"Stay calm? How can I stay calm!" she yelled at her phone, her voice choked with sobs.
Lately, Alvin seemed like a different person, drinking all day and treating her worse and worse.
He would come home drunk every night, sometimes even staying out, and when he returned, he always smelled of unfamiliar perfume. When she asked, he would snap at her impatiently.
When she married Alvin, she thought he had a good personality and was gentle with her, but now everything had changed.
The sound of running water came from the bathroom.
Alvin emerged, wearing only a towel around his waist, water droplets falling from his hair onto his muscular chest.
Seeing Thea crying in the living room, his brows immediately furrowed.
"Why are you crying again?" He impatiently picked up a towel and threw it at her, "Thea, stop acting like a bitter woman. You annoy me."
Thea suddenly raised her head, glaring at him, "A bitter woman? Alvin, how have you been treating me lately? You stay out all night, come back drunk, what do you take me for?"
Alvin's eyes turned fierce, stepping closer, "You married into the Anderson Family. Your living expenses are paid by the Anderson Family. What's yours is mine, and what's mine is still mine! You're only good for entertaining me in bed!"
"Alvin, you're a jerk!" Thea trembled with anger, raising her hand to hit him.
Alvin grabbed her wrist, his grip so tight it felt like he was crushing her bones, "You dare hit me? Let me tell you, Thea! If it weren't for the fact that you're carrying an Anderson Family child, I would have divorced you long ago!"
"Divorce then!" Thea couldn't break free, so she screamed out her anger, "I don't want to be with you anymore!"
Their argument grew louder, quickly spreading throughout the Anderson Mansion, alarming Missy and Ruben.
Missy led Ruben to Silver Estate, meeting Charles and Patricia on the way.
As soon as they stepped into Silver Estate, they heard the vulgar shouting from inside.
"If you don't want to give birth, I'll have someone take you for an abortion right now, so you stop using this damn child to threaten me!"
Alvin kicked over a trash can, Thea sat on the floor, too scared to speak.
Alvin's words were extremely harsh, "Marrying you was the biggest mistake of my life. You women make me sick!"
He raised his hand to hit her.
Patricia initially just wanted to watch the drama unfold, knowing Alvin and Thea's conflict wasn't new.
But hearing those words, her face instantly darkened.
"Alvin, that's not right." She stepped forward, blocking Thea, her tone icy, "Women are born lowly? Weren't you born from a woman too? What does that make you?"
Thea was stunned, not expecting Patricia to speak up for her. In her mind, Patricia was always cold and indifferent to everyone.
Alvin didn't expect Patricia to intervene. He was about to retort when he met Charles's cold gaze.
The next second, his hand was forcefully grabbed, Charles's eyes icy as he looked at him, "Alvin, it seems you've lost your mind from drinking."
"Charles!"
Alvin's drunkenness instantly cleared, he opened his mouth to say something, but Charles's imposing presence and cold eyes made him back down, closing his mouth reluctantly.
"If we had arrived a moment later, Alvin would have attacked a pregnant woman." Patricia's eyes were cold as she slowly helped Thea up, her gaze piercing.
Charles twisted Alvin's hand back, his eyes turning to Thea, "Thea, what do you want to do?"
Thea heard the protective tone in Charles's voice, tears instantly streaming down her face.
"If you feel you can't go on, then divorce. The Anderson Family won't bully you just because you're a woman. You'll get everything you're entitled to after the divorce."
"Divorce?" Thea paused, though she had said it, she had never truly considered it.
Missy and Ruben were both stunned, Missy quickly interrupted, "Charles, what are you saying! Their marital issues should be resolved by them, you can't just suggest divorce."
Ruben also chimed in, "Nonsense, divorce isn't something you can just say."
Patricia was slightly taken aback, hearing "divorce" felt like a sharp stab, her mind flashing back to when she asked Charles for a divorce in her past life, he was just as calm.
He had said, "Want a divorce? I don't agree. Patricia, only I can decide the fate of our marriage."
"What's wrong?" Charles noticed Patricia's sudden change, her face turning pale, he touched her hand.
Patricia snapped back to reality, avoiding his gaze, shaking her head, "Nothing."
Alvin was scared by Charles's words, seeing Charles support Thea, his anger had nowhere to go, he glared at Thea and stormed out.
Charles and Ruben left the living room, leaving it to Thea and the others.
"That jerk!" Missy stomped her foot in anger, then turned to Thea, her tone softening, "Thea, don't take it to heart. Alvin was just drunk and talking nonsense, he didn't mean it."
Thea couldn't hold back anymore, she threw herself into Missy's arms, crying loudly, "Mom, I'm so wronged... Alvin has been like a different person lately."
"Why don't you move in with me for a while, keep me company, and take care of yourself."
Thea nodded, tears still flowing.
Missy wasn't good at comforting people, she looked at Patricia for help.
Patricia sighed, sitting next to Thea, handing her a tissue.
"Stop crying, it's not good for the baby."
Thea took the tissue, wiping her tears, looking at Patricia, guilt flooding her heart, tears falling again, "Patricia, I'm sorry... I was wrong before, always targeting you and speaking ill of you."
Patricia didn't say anything, she patted her, knowing Thea was just emotionally unstable due to pregnancy hormones.
But Thea was unusually persistent, holding her hand, "No, Patricia, I'm really serious about apologizing, I... I really did a lot wrong before."
Patricia nodded perfunctorily.
"Patricia, can we interact more in the future? I want to get along with you." Thea looked up at her, tears welling in her eyes.
Patricia didn't know why, but she saw Charles in her eyes, back then Charles also looked at her with hopeful eyes, hoping for her forgiveness.
Patricia quickly withdrew her hand, turning her head slightly, "We'll see."
Charles stood not far away, waiting for Patricia.
Seeing her come out, he approached.
"How's Thea?"
"Missy said Thea should stay at the Anderson Mansion for a while, take care of herself. As for Alvin, you handle it." Patricia walked beside him, her tone tired.
"Okay." Charles responded lightly, his eyes falling on her face, still thinking about her strange expression when he mentioned divorce, but seeing her tired eyes, he thought he must have been mistaken.
