Devon's POV

There was no reply from the bed, I went to her and lifted the covers from her her , she tried getting it back, squinting her eyes to adjust to the light

“ It's enough with the self pity” I scolded, she seemed surprise, the first emotion on her face since that day

“ You made a mistake, we all agree . We all have , but staying in here all day and starving yourself only makes you a coward.”

“ We could go out and look for solutions, we could go out and look for ways to defeat the witch but no, you want to wallow about it like a little pup that hurt her paws.”

“Where do we even start?” she sobbed, her voice breaking as tears streamed down her face. This was the first time she had spoken in the past days , not short answers and agreements.

“ I had one job, and I failed at it. She's probably out there causing havoc, and I don't know what to do, “ she said, breaking out into a full wail.

I hugged her and brought her close to myself , rocking her as she cried, when she finally stopped crying, I raised her head and held her face lovingly

“ Listen to me sky, we are going to fix this, but you need all the strength you can get”

“ If you're not physically strong , how did you fight a witch with powers, that's why you have to eat” I said , standing up to go get the food from the table

“ When you're done eating, we could go see the priestess” I added

Her face immediately brightened up “ why didn't I think of that” she said “ she must surely have a way or an idea to get to this witch”

I nodded “ so you have to eat , and freshen up so we could be on our way to her.

I was finally able to convince her to eat, there was a bright smile on her face , one that hadn't been there for a while.

“ Let me go inform Killian” I said standing up as she ate her food “ make sure you finish your food”

She nodded as she stuffed her face with food, she must really be hungry, I pinched her cheek and she raised her head to me

“ Can I get more” she asked with her mouth full

“ I'll tell the kitchen to bring more for you” I replied with a chuckle.

I left the room and I saw one of the maids passing by , as she got closer , she bowed slightly “ Alpha”

“ Tell the kitchen to bring more food for my Luna to the room” I said

“ Yes Alpha” she replied , as she turned back to the direction she was coming from.

I walked towards the stairs, I needed to see Killian and he would be in his Office by now. So I went there and when I got to the door, I knocked

“ Come in”

I opened the door, entered and closed it behind me. Killian was seated on his chair, going through some documents with his Beta standing by his side. Their faces looked grim and I knew they had some issues.

I sat down on one of the chairs opposite him and after a while he finally raised his head

“ Sorry about that” he said

“ No problem” I replied “ I just came to inform you that we were going to see the priestess, and wanted to know if you would come along”

He stretched out on his chair and relaxed his head. “ I would really love to come with you” he said “ but a lot of unexplainable things are happening in the pack right now, I couldn't just leave my people.”

“ Is there anything I could do about it” I asked,

“ I think it's connected to the witch,” he replied, raising his head. “ Our crops are drying out , the herds are dying and there have been reports of several deaths in the pack since that day. I think she's taking her revenge.”

I nodded “ seems so ,” I stood up immediately “ that means we have to see the priestess urgently then, I'll leave you to it , but if you need my help in any way ,I'll be ever ready “

“ Thank you” he said

I nodded and walked out of the room, when I got to our room, Skyler was already dressed up and waiting for me

“I'm ready” she said as I entered the room

“ Sure” I replied her

I picked up the car keys from the table, and we went outside to the car. I was not telling her about the things happening in her brother's pack, I didn't want her to blame herself anymore.

I drove us to her first pack , not wanting any guards to come with us . When we finally got to the priestess place, we alighted.

The priestess was in the small garden by the side of her house ,plucking out some herbs.

We decided to wait for her there and when she was done, she walked slowly to us , her back hunched with the weight of age.

“ You finally seek me out” she said as she walked into the house “ what kept you so long”

We followed her into the house and sat down, while she went into her other room to keep the herbs, when she came back she sat down on the chair she always sits in.

“ I was ashamed” Skyler finally spoke her head bowed“I had one task, you made everything easy for us, but I somehow still failed”

The priestess chuckled “ what's there to be ashamed for” she asked “ that a girl  barely above twenty one could not kill a witch older than this very pack”

“There's nothing to be ashamed of, you are  a strong girl, and I trust you would definitely be the end of Raven”
