“One of them, Jason, stabbed him twelve times,at his side ,when he saved me, ” Skyler added. “ I thought I was going to lose him”

Killian clenched his jaw,“There is nothing more painful than not being safe among your very own people,” he said.

Devon nodded,“That is the truth.”

There was silence again.

Skyler turned to Devon“Send the guards back to our pack” she said.

Devon looked at her,“Are you sure?”

“Yes,” she replied. “This place is safe.”

After a brief pause, Devon agreed, and he sent all the guards back.

When Skyler was certain they were alone, she reached into her cloak and pulled out Killian's letter and she handed it to Devon.

“Read this,” she said.

Devon took the letter and glanced at the first line,“It says not to read it out loud,” he said with a small chuckle. “Who reads letters out loud?”

Skyler shrugged.

“I asked the same thing.”

Killian also chucked “ I had to be certain”

Devon continued reading and at first, his expression remained neutral , then his expression started changing, you could see him try to process all the information at once

Devon finally lowered the letter and looked up,“So this witch,” he said, trying to lighten the situation, “she’s like your aunt?”

Skyler frowned and tapped his arm playfully.

“Not my aunt,” she said. “She was a sister to our first Luna.”

Devon nodded and continued reading and when he finished, his expression was serious.

“Freya partially awakened something,” Devon said. “Something that is watching my people closely, something that has taken the lives of my people”

Skyler nodded “Yes

“And this witch would do anything to get your blood,” Devon continued. “I wish Freya were alive so I could kill her myself this time.”

Skyler took a deep breath.“That was why nothing we planned ever worked,she was always watching us, and my life is what she needs to complete the last arc on that sigil.”

She paused and then continued “She was the presence I kept feeling, the danger in my nightmares.”

Killian straightened, rubbing his hands together “Then we have to go to the priestess tomorrow,” he said.

He looked at both of them,“but for now, you should rest.”he said “ your journey was a long one."

Skyler had just come out from the bathroom after taking her bath when she saw Devon in front of the mirror , inspecting his wounds.

“ What are you doing?” she asked with worry in her voice.

Devon turned to her , “ stop it already” he said with a smile “ you know I'm almost healed, it's no longer painful just a little discomfort.”

She came closer to him and held his face in her hands “ you're my brave, brave Alpha” she said “ fighting death to be with me.”

“ There's nothing I won't fight to be with you, you're mine” the possessiveness I'm his voice undeniable 

“ I knew you were not telling me something, when you talked about recovering here, you told the people I was still critical.” he added 

Skyler chuckled “ the healer is a very good man, when I  said you were critical, he just looked at me and nodded, declaring you still critical.”

Devon pinched the tip of Skyler's nose playfully “ then I'll compensate him accordingly when we get back, for obeying his Luna without questions .

“ Yes , you would , but for now go take your bath, we have to go see the priestess.

Devon went into the bathroom, while Skyler started getting ready, Skyler gently applied the medicine to Devon's side when he was ready and they went out for breakfast 

Killian was already seated when they arrived 

“ Good morning skiddie”

“ and a Good morning to you , Alpha Devon”

“ Good morning, Alpha Killian” replied, while Skyler sat down next to Devon with a frown 

“ Skiddie, won't you wish your brother a good morning.” Devon teased 

“ This is what I was talking about” Skyler said with her eyebrows raised at Killian 

Devon and Killian both chucked 

“ I think it's a cute name, but you're still my sky” Devon said 

They had their breakfast , and prepared to go . Beta Brandon was the one driving, while Killian sat next to him , leaving the back seats to Devon and Skyler

By noon they had gotten to the priestesses place,they all got out of the car, and Skyler stayed at Devon's side like she was unsure. This was the second time she was coming to see the priestess after the curse, and she was still not fond of her or this place.

They stepped into the small house, whose door was already wide open, the priestess was standing at the far end of the room which served as the kitchen, stirring the meal she was making 

“ Welcome” she said without turning towards them “ have a seat”

They all sat down , waiting for her but she continued to stir and when she was done, she put of the gas stove and walked down to where they were seated 

She sat down at the singular chair facing her guest
“ We meet again, Skyler,” she said, turning to Skyler with a toothless smile.”

“Yes , we do” Skyler nodded 

“Alpha Devon” she greeted bowing her head slowly 

“Great priestess” he replied
