Chapter 9: REALIZATION

“You witnessed the crime this man committed against me? I don’t even know you” I said looking confused at this man that claimed to be a witness.

“You do know me, you just don’t know my human form” he said as he looked me straight in the eye and realization struck me.

This was Eddy, my dire wolf

“Eddy?” I said and he smiled gently. He was a small wolf when I first met him and when he started growing so big I thought that was the normal way dogs grew.

I was beyond amazed having him on my side changes everything, If Eddy takes the throne, I can go back home without any fear that I am being followed or hunted.

“I witnessed everything from the very first moment Skylar sent human hounds after her in the White stone lands. She nearly died from the waterfall If I hadn’t pulled her from the water” Eddy said and I remembered how I woke up in the woods, so he was the one who took me there.

“I demand that this woman be compensated and promised her safe return to her home land” Edgar said.

“No, I don’t want to go home” I said and I heard murmuring in the room from the elders of the council.

“What are you doing Elaine?” Edgar said almost whispering as he was also confused by my action.

I did not reply instead I looked Skylar in the eye, I was blessed with a gift and its to read people’s personality the first moment I meet them. And Skylar is one very cunning man, so cunning that he is dangerous to himself.

“I will stay here as a guest of Edgar Knight, and will leave when I am ready to” I said with my head held high like the queen that I am.

“And what if I don’t permit that?” Skylar said softly like he was thinking of something.

“Then I go home and march my army and the army of all other pack and we take your pack house which have already lost half of its forces because of you” I said smiling and I could feel Edgar staring at me.

“Elaine Peregren is a royal guest from this day till the day she decides to go home” Skylar said and all the elders agreed without protest.

“Thank you” I said and walked towards the doubled doors, I stopped and turned.

“Do I have the permission to pick any two guards of my choice?” I said looking at Skylar straight in the face.

“Why would you want two guards?” He said looking skeptical.

“For my own protection, just in case you try anything funny” I said and smiled widely.

“Do whatever you want” He said and held his forehead like he was already having a headache.

I went outside and met the guards that brought me here.

“Oliver and Randy” I said with a small smile on my face.

“Your Highness” they both said at the same time.

“From this moment henceforth, you are my new guards till I leave this pack house as a guest, are you okay with that?” I asked.

“Yes we are honored to be given such important task” Oliver said smiling brightly and Randy shared the same energy.

“Then please show me to the guest rooms” I said to them.

“There will be no need for that, you will be staying with me in my quarters” I heard a familiar voice behind me and I froze where I was standing.

I wasn’t ready to talk to this dashingly handsome man, Edgar Knight. Who would have thought that I will ever be involved with someone like him. If I wasn’t me, I’ll be so jealous of myself.

“You both can go, I’ll call for you when she needs you” He said to Oliver and Randy who obeyed almost immediately.

I stood there still turning my back on him and he walked around to stand in front if me, he towered above me as he was so tall.

“Elaine” he said and I looked up to him and into his beautiful eyes. I could feel my cheeks getting hotter and they must be red by now.

“Edgar” I replied after some long seconds looking away and he held my chin and faced it back to himself.

“Why did you suggest I stay in your quarters? I will be more than okay in the guest house” I said trying to break the long silence that lingered between us. I was very uncomfortable with the silence but he seemed okay with it as he stared at me and smiled gently.

“I need you to be safe, I cannot afford to loose you again to my brother’s stupid schemes” He said now looking very serious.

“Ohh I see, its fine I’ll stay” I said rubbing my hand at the back of my neck.

“Elaine” he said again this time saying it slowly.

“Hmm” I replied.

“Its nothing, I just love your name” he said and turned to walk away because at this point I couldn’t hide my red cheek anymore.

“Where are you going to?” He said after chuckling softly.

“Nowhere” I said and he followed behind me.

“That girl is a problem, you need to find a way to get her to marry you before Edgar finds his way completely into her heart” Hayley said as she laid on the bed with Skylar.

“And how would I do that? They are already in love with each other, and its quite obvious from the way they look at themselves” Skylar said sounding worried.

“There’s no much problem as long as they haven’t laid together, all we need is the perfect plan to get her to change her mind” Hayley said smiling reassuringly.

“And what is this plan?” Skylar asked and she told him the plan explaining it carefully to him.

“That would definitely work” Skylar said sounding delighted.

“Of course it will” Hayley replied.

“You are such a beautiful and intelligent woman” Skylar said to her and she smiled sheepishly.

“Ohh thank you my Lord” she said and they both laughed.
