Chapter 10: QUARTERS

“This is where you will be staying for now, it used to be my mother’s room” Edgar said as he led Elaine into the room and she looked around scanning every detail. It was a simple room with a queen-sized mattress and the most beautiful rug Elaine had seen in a while.

“I thought I will be staying in your quarters?” Elaine said wondering if he changed his mind.

“And you are, my room is next door” Edgar said.

“That’s not really what quaters mean where I come from” Elaine said chuckling a little bit.

“What do you mean?” Edgar said curiously.

“In my pack house, quarters simply means a room for one person” Elaine said and Edgar nodded his head in understanding.

“Well here, quarters mean different rooms all joined together somehow for a particular family. This was my mother’s and the one next door was mine” he explained carefully.

“I understand” Elaine said with a bright smile.

“So do you want to talk about why you do not want to go home even after being away from your people for years” Edgar said with a more serious explanation.

“I don’t trust Skylar, there’s every possibility that when I set out on my journey home he sends assassins after me. I will stay here till you take back your place on the throne before I think about going home” Elaine said leaving Edgar in a daze as he wondered to what extent was she this intelligent.

“And what if I am no longer interested in taking the throne?” Edgar said with furrowed brows.

“Even if you aren’t, there are many people here who sees redemption in your return. Skylar is running this pack down and if you do not do something, its only a matter of time before there is no more Red stone pack to talk about.

“You must act now that he is still in distress and still trying to figure out how you survived” Elaine said and it got Edgar thinking.

“You have a point, get some rest. I’ll send your guards to come here and stand by the door and I will also send someone who will tend to your needs” Edgar said almost hastily as he moved to walk out of the room.

“Where are you going to?” she said.

“To make plans” Edgar replied and walked out of the room.

Edgar’s POV

I walked through the halls and staircase, I was going to the guards keep to find Oliver and Randy.

“Go up to my quarters and stand guard of the room beside mine, that’s where the Lady Elaine stays presently. No one not even Skylar should be allowed into that room. Any disturbances beyond you, send for me” I said to them carefully and in the lowest tone to make sure none of Skylar’s loyal servants heard me.

I had more things to do, I haven’t seen Brandon since I came back, I wasn’t quite sure if he was avoiding me or if he just felt that there was no work to be done. I walked towards his family quarters and to his own room. There were sounds of a female moaning and I knew exactly what he was doing, when was Brandon going to find a mate and stop sleeping around with any of this girls that fall for his charm.

I knocked on the door, they were whispers from both of then but I could hear them clearly, they were planning on how to hide her because apparently Brandon thought his father was the one at the door.

“It’s Edgar, open the door Brandon” I said and it was almost as if the tension got worse, the girl was even more scared to hear it was me. I couldn’t wait anymore and I opened the door, walking inside I was beyond shocked to see who Brandon was f*cking.

“What the hell are you doing barging in my room without knocking?” Brandon yelled at me but I was too surprised to even respond.

“I did knock, what the f*ck Bran? What is she doing here?” I screamed at the top of my voice because I clearly couldn’t comprehend what I was looking at.

“What the f*ck Eddy? What are you doing here?” Brandon said looking like what he did with her was completely normal.

“Come on, you need yo go now I have something important to discuss with Ed. Bye now” Brandon said to her and she ran out of the room completely embarrassed.

“Bran, start explaining” I said as I sat on a chair in his room, I needed a seat after what I just saw.

“Explain? What am I suppose to explain?” He said putting on his shirt and smirking stupidly.

“Why are you sleeping with Skylar’s wife? Do you want your head on a spike?” I said to him and ge laughed loudly.

“You worry too much brother, I’m doing this for our own good” he said.

“What do you mean by that?” I said completely lost.

“Hayley is not even my type, I am just sleeping with her to get information. She is quite a big mouth when she’s horny and Skylar doesn’t know how to satisfy his woman” Brandon said and my interest spiked.

“And what information have you gotten so far?” I asked.

“Skylar plans to use an aphrodisiac on Elaine so that he sleeps with her and she becomes his wife” Brandon said and my countenance changed.

“Do you know when he plans to do this?” I said and I saw Brandon’s expression change.

“Shit!!” He said combing his hands through his hair.

“What is the problem?” I said looking very worried as this matter concerned Elaine, the only person that I would feel so guilty if any harm were to come to her.

“We need to get to Elaine’s room now, I will explain on our way there” Brandon said and I became extremely worried.

We hastily walked out of the room and headed towards my quarters.

“Start talking” I said in a cold icy tone as we walked through the hall ways.

“Where do I start? I think Skylar plans to execute his plan today. Hayley said that he was waiting for the perfect time, a time where no one will be there to see” Brandon said and my mind wandered.

“Sapphire has guards at her door, there’s no way he can get into that room” I said thinking hard.

“The time between when you called the guards and when they arrived there, that must be when he struck. If we are lucky, we might get there before Elaine loses her senses and sleeps with your idiot brother” Brandon said and I hastened my steps, that can’t happen on my watch.

We got to her room and I opened the door widely, I saw what I wasn’t expecting.
