Chapter 8: LONG MAY HE REIGN

“Now that the ritual of burying the fallen Alpha is done, we must now announce the new Alpha of the red stone pack” The High Elder spoke and the other pack members responded “Aye” concurring with him.

“Before Alpha Edward’s passing, he proclaimed his legitimate son Edgar Knight as the Alpha of this great pack but unfortunately, Edgar Knight was killed by the new uprising of werewolf hunters, who Edward tried so hard to eradicate forever”

“First of his name, protector of the red stone Ruby, Head of the council of Alphas, Son of Edward Knight, I present Skylar Knight, your new Alpha” The High Elder spoke and everyone froze where they stood.

They all knew the kind of person Skylar was, amd with him ruling them there was going to be a lot of things going wrong in the nearest future.

“Long may he reign” One of Skylar’s followers shouted from the crowd and other had no choice but to follow.

“Long may he reign” They all shouted even if they knew that this is most likely the beginning of their suffering.

Years passed and with Skylar taking charge, the pack began to crumble. His reckless decisions led them down a dangerous path, attracting more attention from the werewolf hunters. With each passing day, their suffering intensified.

Despite the hardships, a group of loyal pack members secretly plotted to overthrow Skylar and restore order. They knew it was their only chance for survival, they prepared for a daring confrontation but Skylar was two steps ahead and had them all murdered in their sleep causing more fear spread amongst the pack members.

Skylar consulted the witch that was once brought to the pack by his father, and she told him that his brother wasn’t dead and he will come back for his birthright. She also told him that his brother will become the most powerful werewolf in the land because he will marry Elaine Quinn, alpha of the blue stone pack.

Skylar panicked, he became afraid and sent out men to look for Edgar wherever he was hiding and sent others to hunt down Elaine and bring her to him. He would find Edgar, kill him and marry Elaine so he becomes the most powerful.

Skylar was a strategist and needed time to plot out his schemes or they will all be a mess that will come crashing down on him. He wasn’t in his right mind, he was thinking too much and making rash decisions. Which was exactly what Edgar needed at the moment, Skylar’s vulnerability.

“I cannot let Edgar come back to this pack house or every last one of the pack members will leave my side and follow him” Skylar said to his wife Hayley as he stood close to the window and sipped his wine from his cup.

“Then make sure he doesn’t come back. You both share the same blood, use your blood and cast a spell on him to forever be in his wolf form, that way even if he comes back he will not be able to rule” Hayley said and her husband turned to look at her with surprised eyes.

“I never knew you were this intelligent my love” He said smiling and placed a kiss on her lips.

“Thank you my Lord” Hayley said smiling at him as this was the first time he ever made her feel loved.

“Are you sure about this? This spell is irreversible” the witch asked Skylar and he was certain that it was what he wanted.

“Yes I’m very sure” He replied.

“Then let’s begin” The witch said and began chanting spells, she sliced his hand drawing his blood and after few moments she stopped.

“Its done, no one that shares your blood can change into their human form again, forever” She said and Skylar smiled in satisfaction as he felt his goals are achieved.

“Arggghhhhh” Edgar screamed as he felt his blood boil and his bones crack, no one can ever get used to the feeling of changing into their wolf form, it will always carry some amount of pain no matter how strong you are.

He and Brandon were going on a hunt for some food, they both ran through the woods in their wolf form and they moved swiftly through the bushes, Eddy heard the panting of another wolf asides from Brandon.

It was a young female and she was in trouble, Eddy diverted and followed the sound of her heartbeat on getting there, he saw his brother’s men pursuing the girl and he stopped immediately, his brother must not know that he is alive until he is fully ready to face him.

He took the alternate path following them stealthily, he wanted to make sure that the girl survives this and those men do not take her to Skylar. He saw her jump into the waterfall and the men stopped they must have concluded she was dead but he could still hear her heartbeat.

Edgar went down to the beach where the water must have washed her to and carried her all the way to the bushes close to the small village where he was staying, he knew that no one would take her in for the night so he had already prepared for her to come stay as long as she wanted and he will stay in his wolf form through out that time, so his wolf could heal more.

While waiting for her, Eddy felt a sharp pain in his chest that made him fall to the ground. He tried to change to his human form but he couldn’t instead his wolf grew smaller, after much attempts he was able to change to his human form. This was not natural and it wasn’t in any way connected to his wounds, he will talk to Brandon about it tomorrow.

Finally he heard her knock on the door.
