Chapter 18: Silence

“What did she say?” Brandon said to Edgar immediately he walked into his room.

“Brandon, what are you doing lying on my bed like that” Edgar said as he looked towards his bed to find Brandon lying on it like it was his.

“Come on Eddy, what did she say?” Brandon said and Edgar didn’t respond.

“Why would you sneak into your Alpha’s room and lie on his bed? No respect, leave my room Brandon” Edgar said lazily as he sat on the chair facing the balcony.

“You’re avoiding the question. And from your countenance I can see she rejected you, did she?” He asked again and Edgar knew he cannot get rid of Brandon until he answers his question.

“If silence means acceptance, then she did accept to go home” Edgar said running his hands through his hair.

“She didn’t say anything, that’s the worse response” Brandon replied.

“Yeah it is, I don’t know what she might be thinking now, I can’t believe I told her this to make her choose” Edgar said in a frustrated tone.

“You didn’t do anything wrong. She’ll know you’re only trying to keep her safe just give her some time to process” Brandon said and Edgar nodded his head slightly.

“I’m going to see the general, we have some business about the changing of ships” Brandon said getting up from the bed.

“How is he responding to our proposal” Edgar said.

“I think he is ready to do it, we’ll find out from the meeting today” Brandon said and walked towards the door. He opened it to find Elaine outside about to open the door herself.

“Hello Brandon” she said to him with a beautiful smile.

“Hello My Lady” Brandon said as he kissed her right hand.

“How are doing Brandon?” she said still giving her bright smile.

“I’m very good my Lady, I’ll be going now, please take care of yourself” Brandon said and walked out of the room shutting the door behind him.

Edgar stood up from where he sat and turned to face her, she was few steps away from him.

“I’m sorry I scared you like that” he said looking remorseful.

“You don’t need to be sorry Edgar, I know you are trying hard to be honest with me” she said and walked closer to him covering the gap between them.

“I’ll stay Edgar, I need to be here to make sure Skylar’s reign if terror ends and a new life begins for all four packs” she said and there was a tinge of happiness in his eyes

Elaine stared into his eyes and gave a beautiful smile, she was about to speak when they both heard a knock on the door.

“What the f*ck” Edgar said in annoyance because he knew who it was at the door.

“Come in Brandon” he said rolling his eyes.

“I’m sorry my Lord” Brandon said when he opened the door to see Edgar and Elaine staring at him.

“It’s alright, what is it?” Edgar said calmly.

“You need to take a look at this” Brandon said and Edgar knew it was important by the seriousness in his voice.

“Alright, wait for me outside” Edgar said and Brandon closed the door.

“Are you alright with us doing this maybe later?” He said as his eyes met her own.

“I’m fine, just go do what you need to do we’ll pick this conversation up later when you’re back” she said with a reassuring smile.

“I’ll be back as soon as I can” Edgar said and walked away.
