Chapter 17: Soulful
“Its been a week since Edgar came back and still nothing, he have not even confronted me about anything whatsoever. This is too quiet” Skylar said to his right hand man, as he paced back and forth in the large throne room.
“I think he’s taking his time to draft out the perfect plan for his attack and we must be ready at anytime he strikes” Jon said as he stood at a place with his head slightly bowed.
“I’m hearing whispers about the Blue Stone pack coming to take their Alpha” Skylar said pausing and facing Jon.
“You need not worry yourself with that my Lord, you have an army of human hounds and mere werewolf soldiers cannot stand against them” Jon said and Skylar nodded his head in agreement.
“That’s correct. One more thing, keep an eye Elaine, if a fight breaks out, I want you to bring her to me unscathed. She’s worth everything in this palace” Skylar said.
“Yes my Lord” Jon replied.
“Now leave me, I need to think” Skylar said backing him.
Jon quietly walked out of the room and immediately he shut the door, Skylar walked towards the throne and sat on it.
“This might be the last time I sit here in peace so I might as well enjoy the moment” he lamented to himself as he moved to make himself more comfortable.
Skylar’s mind drifted to his wife Hayley, why was he so heartless about killing her she was the only one that he have ever been close to, the only one that truly supported him. Now that he have killed her, who was going to be by his side to dissuade him out of bad decisions and give him an alternative?
It cannot be Elaine, her heart belongs to another man but he was going to make her his. Even if she longs for another man all day, when the night come she will see him in her bed on top of her f*cking her everyday and never getting tired. He must marry her no matter what, he must take that power as his own and if she marries another he would kill her without batting an eyelid.

Elaine’s POV
I laid on my bed with a book in my hand, the story was so intriguing that I had been at it for hours. It talked about a great werewolf who lead the war against the vampires that existed over a century ago. Back then there was no division between any of the werewolves, the guardians of the stone were the elders of the great werewolf family.
After the war with the vampires, the werewolves saw reason to divide according to the colors of their stone. The Great werewolf was the first Alpha of the Red Stone pack which makes his generation the permanent head of the council, the blue stone pack migrated to the north, they all had white wolfs which made it easier for them to adapt to their surroundings, the green stone pack went to the green-lands, as that was were they could inhabit because of their stone, the white stone pack stayed in the east not for any particular reason but because they had no other lands to contain.
With the red stone pack in the south, the green stone pack in the west, the white stone pack in the east and the blue stone pack in the north, they could contain the vampires no matter where they attacked from.
This was the first time I heard about the origins of the four lands and It made me understand how great of an offense it is for Skylar to be Alpha of the red stone pack and Head of the council. I paused for a while and looked up contemplating and an idea popped in my head, I must tell Alexander when he arrives here.
I continued reading the book and something else caught my attention, it was how human hounds came about. In the second invasion of the vampires, the humans where attacked this time and they tried all they could to kill of the vampires but nothing was really working on them. The vampires killed them all and they rose up again as an army of dead, five times faster than humans and two times faster than werewolves.
These human turned vampires were so strong and fast that they became hunting dogs for vampires, thus the name; human hounds.
I sat on my bed I heard a knock on the door, I knew exactly who it was.
“Come in” I said and in few seconds, he walked in and his sweet scent filled the room to the brim. I smiled as I looked inside the book I held in my hand and I looked up at him, there was uneasiness in his countenance.
“Edgar” I said with a bright smile on my face as I looked up at him.
“Hello Elaine, how have you been?” He said as he sat at the edge of the bed looking at me soulfully.
“I’m very good, since you’ve decided to avoid me, I have ventured into history and literature” I said and looked back in my book feigning annoyance.
“Come on Elaine, I’m not avoiding you. I’ve just had a lot to do that’s all” he said shrugging his shoulder as he avoided eye contact with me.
“Edgar, spill it. I know you have something to tell me, what is it?” I said dropping the book and coming down from the bed.
I walked to the other side and sat down next to him because it seemed like a very serious matter with the expression on his face.
“Tell me” I said to him reassuringly like he could trust me with anything.
“I want you to promise me that you will take this the right way and not think that I have any ulterior motive” Edgar said his small dark red eyes and-full long lashes looking at my blue big ones that were even bigger as my curiosity grew.
“Elaine, there are rumors going around that your people have realized that you are here and they are coming to take you by force because they think you’re a prisoner here” He said to me and I was in momentary shock, all I did was stare back at him as I took time to process what I just heard.
After so many years of being away from my home, this was my chance to change that, to be there for my people and actually rule them. I thought I didn’t want to go home, at least not until I’m sure Skylar is no longer a threat to my life.
But now I have been put face to face with the choice of staying or going home, I just think I might go home to my people and fight Skylar with all of them by my side. Was that selfish?
