Chapter 20 Chapter 20
Ty
She was coming, I could sense her getting close even if I couldn’t see her yet.
It was like the wolf inside me, was so attuned with her that she could roll over in bed and I would sense it.
But she wasn’t in bed, she was walking towards the banquet hall. Her footsteps were only a little louder than her maid Graces.
I could smell the floral perfume she had used and under it I could smell her skin so strongly that the taste of her coated my skin and my mouth watered.
Next to me, Eirain straightened. His hand fidgeted with the high embroidered collar of his tunic.
“She’s coming.” He hissed like it was news. He didn’t need to announce it, I knew it the moment she reached the wide double doors.
“She’s here.” I countered. My hed staring towards the doors like I could see through the party goers and see her.
Truthfully things had been strained between us recently. Ever since I had found out he had lost his temper to the point he had spanked her and pushed her to rub herself to orgasm on his knee.
We had agreed that anything that happened with Sloane , the both of us had to present. Partly for her protection but mostly because she needed to love both of us. And one person paying her more attention than the other would give them an unfair advantage.
The crowd before me, fell silent. So silent in fact that you could have heard a pin drop. The wolves of our pack bristled with rage as she came into view.
But not one growl fell from anyone's lips. They knew better than to anger us in such a way this close to a full moon. Sloane was our very special guest. Our future mate. Tonight she would be safe.
Or so I hoped. With wolves you never really knew.
The sea of elegantly dressed bodies, decked out in their finary parted and I got my first glimpse of her. Sloane was standing completely unsure of herself in the open doorway. Her dark hair curled around her head, her slender but no longer bone thin body wrapped in the dress we had designed for her.
Pale throat wrapped around with ring after ring of gold , the same as her arms up to her elbows.
She was protected as much as we could without decking her out in full armour.
And Eiria and I were the best protection she could ask for anyway.
This close to the full moon, no one would move even a claw towards her without being ripped apart. The only danger she faced was if she was left alone.
Someone had done her makeup but tastefully. A smudge of dark shadow against her eyes lips glossy with oil.
She looked like a queen.
Which was of course exactly what we needed her to look like.
If the wolves of our pack were going to accept her she was going to need to be perceived as strong.
She looked the part of Luna, standing there under the lights of the flickering candles. Except her eyes. Those were wide and kind of terrified.
Not that I could blame her for that. She was quite literally facing down a room full of people who would happily rip her limb from limb.
It was Eirian who moved first, striding off the raised platform where our thrones sat, he walked through the crowd without looking at anyone but her.
“My lady Sloane?” with a low formal bow he offered her his hand.
And she hesitated. Just for a fraction of a second before she slid her hand into his.
“Let me escort you to your seat.” holding her hand aloft he walked her back towards us and i couldnt take my eyes off of her or more specifically the swell of her breasts as they heaved over the hard edge of her gathered leather corset.
Each mound was covered in what I thought might be sweat until she got closer and I realised it was some kind of perfumed glittering oil. It didn't really matter. I had the overwhelming urge to sink my teeth into the right one and leave the left for my brother.
She was mine.
Ours.
Our mate.
And I wanted to claim her here in front of everyone.
Eirian's eyes widened and he shook his head softly. A clear and firm no.
I grumbled something under my breath before plastering my face with a smile and reaching down the stone stairs for her other hand.
He was right of course, we couldn't claim her yet. Her frail human body wasn't strong enough to heal from that.
But one day soon she would be. Already she had come on so much in her training. Her body was stronger now and so was her mind but she would have to be-
She stepped up beside me, standing between the both of and all reasonable thoughts left my mind. There was nothing in my brain but her.
Goddess she smelt amazing.
“Now everyone is here.” Eirian took a half step in front of her dropping her hand, at the same time I stepped behind her. “You look beautiful tonight.” I whispered. My breath tickled her ear.
“Thank you.” She whispered, her body trembling with nerves. I tightened my grip on her hand, pulling into my chest.
“You look like a queen. Our queen.” My words were only meant for her but I could see more than one wolf staring at me open mouthed. No one was listening to Eirian's long winded speech.
Instead they were watching my every move.
“And a queen should sit not at our feet.” I motioned to the satin pillow between the two thrones and her eyes widened. “But on a throne.”
Taking her fingers more securely in mine, I motioned for her to sit in the carved wooden chair on the right. My chair.
The room erupted into chaos as I stepped back. “I give you, your new Luna.”
