Chapter 32
Elizabeth's POV
The ringing of my phone pulls me out of my reverie and I pick it up to answer.
"Oh, okay. I'll be down in a minute." I hang up, slip on my slippers and head downstairs.
Susan's here.
I already asked Ethan if she could come over and he said, "Your friend can come here anytime, it's your home, Spitfire."
As if.
However, I don't know why, but thinking about his words makes my heart warm up a bit. Why's that?
I shake the thoughts away.
As soon as I step in the living room, Susan and I rush to meet each other and embrace in a tight hug. We have a looot to catch up on so I pull her upstairs to my room.
"How could he do such a thing?" Susan still finds it hard to believe that I caught Derek cheating on me.
"Did you at least whoop his ass?" She asks, scowling.
I smile bitterly and shake my head negatively.
Her scowl deepens.
"Anyway, all that matters is I'm done with him."
"I know right," something shifts in Susan's eyes and she winks at me.
She grabs my hand, ogling at the diamond ring on my finger. "So, he gave you this... Just so you can pretend to be his wife?"
Immediately after Ethan fake-proposed that night, I'd called Susan instantly and filled her in on every detail about Ethan Moore.
I shrug my shoulders in response, "and you're sure he doesn't want anything else from you... I mean, you even told me he set up a workshop for you. That's huge!"
"What' you mean? He's using me, so it's only right that he repays me..."
Susan snorts at my statement. "Girl, trust me, I'll kill to be in your shoes. You enjoy so much just by pretending to be his wife... If I were you, I'd be planning on being his wife for real! Till death do us part!"
We both burst into laughter.
After chit chatting for a few hours, catching up on everything we lost out on each other's' lives for the past couple of weeks, I take Susan to my workshop and show her around. She's marveled-I don't blame her as I'm yet to get over the beautiful sight myself. Shortly after, we head downstairs for lunch.
And after lunch we return back to my room, gist some more. I also show her around the mansion, and as soon as the sun has set, Susan takes her leave.
"I'll miss youuuu," I pout as we embrace in a tight hug.
If I can have my way, I'll let Susan move in here with me.
Merely thinking about how I'm going to go back to being lonely after she leaves, sadness washes over me.
"I'll miss you too. But trust me, now that I know this place, I'll be coming frequently, okay?" She smiles and I nod my head.
I can work with that.
I'm sure she can't get any taxi around as Ethan's estate is quite far away and distant from the city, so I have one of Ethan's chauffeur drop her off.
As Susan's about to enter the Lamborghini Truck, she whispers in my ear, "like I said, I'll kill to be in your position, bitch! You rich man's wife!"
My cheeks flush and I quickly correct her in a low voice, "fake wife-fiancée."
"Byeeeee," I continue waving until the vehicle's completely out of sight.
I huff as I turn around to head back inside, however, as I take a step, the hairs on my back stand erect, shrilly, and I freeze momentarily.
It feels like someone's watching me and I quickly dart my eyes around, however, no one is. The guards around are standing like lifeless statues, staring into space...
Brows furrow and I shake off the weird feeling before heading upstairs for a nap. I need it to regain full energy before Ethan gets back from work as he's an energy drainer. My energy drainer.
A smile graces my lips as I slowly slip off to dreamland. Damn, this bed's still as soft as the first time I laid on it.
A soft moistness on my lips causes me to stir awake. When I open my eyes, it's pitch black in the room.
It's nightfall already.
"Hey, Spitfire," I hear Ethan's voice beside me and squint, trying to make out his form.
I hear the sound of retreating footsteps and the next second, the lights have been switched on. I squint more at the blinding brightness.
"You're back," I yawn, blinking rapidly to get comfortable with the light.
"I am,"
I lick my moist lips and Ethan's eyes trail to my mouth instantly, hooded. And it occurs to me-he kissed me just now! His kiss is what woke me up!
"You pervert!" I flare up at once, sending him death glares.
A smirk tugs at the corner of his mouth, "we're engaged, Spitfire, remember?" He tilts his head at the ring on my finger.
His words annoy me even more, "fake-engaged! You have no right-""
"Yeah, goodnight, my darling." Ethan walks out before I can complete my sentence.
I'm stunned, watching as he blows me a kiss before closing the door after him.
My chest is heaving in and out heavily and a scoff escapes my mouth. That pervert!
Just like I said earlier, he's energy draining. And that's what he just did-drained my energy. Sucked me dry of my energy like a vampire.
He intentionally does things that make me angry. All the time. And I have no idea why? How can someone be so cruel? What does he gain?
Subconsciously, my finger trails my bottom lip and I grimace at the thought that I licked it-licked Ethan's mouth. Ewww.
I hop off the bed and march straight to the bathroom for a thorough mouthwash. And maybe a shower too.
