Young and Inlove

Young and Inlove
Over the next few weeks that followed, Elizabeth saw more of Jack in town. Now that they are acquaintances, she realized he lives closer to her apartment. He invited her over to lunch and picked her up at night for dinner. She loves his company and looks forward to spending more time with him. It felt as though she had known him for a very long time even though they met a few weeks ago. They spent every free time in each other's embrace, getting to know each other became easier for them.

Jack too had had his heart captured by Elizabeth's innocent and sweet words. He ought to have rounded up what he came into being York to do but he couldn't bring himself to leave, at least not alone neither could he travel without assuring Elizabeth was his. He is beginning to fall in love with the lady he met a few weeks ago, the amount of time they met didn't really matter, all that did was that they are both falling in love.

Over the weeks, Elizabeth couldn't stop praising her new found love to her friend, Karen who had now started to get jealous. That night when Elizabeth had returned to her after her dances with Jack, Karen was fuming and filled with anger but Elizabeth had failed to catch this neither would she think the little wrinkles on her friend's forehead were as a result of her contempt for her.

"Do you not think it is too soon for you jack and jack. I felt you were moving too fast a bit" Karen said one evening. They met at a coffee shop down the street from Elizabeth's apartment.

"You know it's just a few weeks since you met him, you couldn't have known his true identity in such a short time," she added.

Elizabeth sighed, letting out a breath before placing her cup of coffee gently on the table. She leaned forward to rest her elbows on the edge of the table.

"I know. I don't think you'll understand it, there is this connection between us and I know he's right for me" she closed her eyes. She can feel it, what she felt for Jack for the past few weeks Is real. She could hear the resounding echoes of their laughter at the back of her head, she could feel how his soothing voice called her Nerves.

"Kelvin too was like that at first" Karen said, which made Elizabeth's eyes flutter open.

"He loved and got me engaged before the truth came out" she finished, her eyes pleading desperate for Elizabeth to agree with her. Kelvin was Karen's ex boyfriend, they dated for a while before he got engaged to her and a few weeks after their wedding, she discovered he was married.

"Jack isn't like that. David knows him" Elizabeth countered. "I know what I am doing also, I am not a fool. I understand you're trying to look out for me but not all mean would be like Kelvin. Maybe if you get over that, you will be able to date men again" she said calmly, lifting her coffee to her lips to take a sip then placing it right back on the table.

Karen was angered by what Elizabeth had said, who only meant it as an advice. But she was embittered and jealous of her friend's relationship and had vowed to stop at nothing until she ruined it.

"I know, but I can be more funny and manipulative than we know." She flashed Elizabeth a fake smile and then kept quiet. There was tension between the two and words were left unsaid.

"David has been acting so cold lately, especially now that Jack and I were together" Elizabeth said, letting out what had been bothering her. Karen too had noticed this bit wouldn't say anything.

"Why do you think so, he seemed so fine to me"

"Yes, that was what I thought too but I had known him since I was a kid." She paused and took in a deep breath. I know when something is bothering him and I can tell it has something to do with Jack and I" she said finally.

Karen smiled mischievously, beaming happily at someone who is against Elizabeth's relationship. The first time she saw Jack, he had his hands entangled with Elizabeth's and they were laughing happily. She knew that her friend had founded what she couldn't— Love. That moment all her hatred towards Kelvin, her ex boyfriend at that moment turned towards jealousy. She was envious of Elizabeth because she felt Elizabeth had all that she couldn't.

A supportive family, siblings, looks that turn heads and now— Love. She doesn't care if she had known Elizabeth all her life, she is hell-bent on stopping at nothing to ruin that perfect life for her. Why would life be so cruel to take everything away from her? She questioned herself. Can't she feel loved for a moment, and when she thought she was winning and having it all with Kelvin, it turned out to be fake and the worst turning point of her life.

"I will need to see him and talk to him about it, I don't want jack to come between us" Elizabeth looked very worried as she expressed her fear to the devil seating before her, but of course she wouldn't know.

"He wouldn't, you just need to assure him." She smiled at Elizabeth but it didn't reach her eyes. In Fact she is tired of hearing all about Jack and her relationship.

She wanted Jack for herself, the ideal type of boyfriend she always wished for and the smile she has seen him give Elizabeth is real. Something Kelvin didn't have.

"I know what you have to do," Karen announced, mak
ing Elizabeth look up from her phone.
