Chapter 41 GOOD-FOR-NOTHING GIRLFRIEND

Chapter 41 GOOD-FOR-NOTHING GIRLFRIEND
CAMILA POV

I watched Xavier scoff, his face hardening with pure disbelief. “Our child?” He pinched the bridge of his nose, clearly fighting to keep his temper under control. “Camila, I don’t have time for this. Be warned. Don’t ever threaten Veronica again.”

He turned to leave, dismissing me like I was some minor inconvenience.

My blood boiled. “Xavier, wait—” My voice cracked before I could stop it. “You think this is a joke, huh?” I snapped, my voice shooting up. “You are the father of this child, and you have to take responsibility.”

Xavier stopped. His eyebrow shot up, and those dangerous eyes narrowed on me. “What in the world are you talking about? You and I have never once gotten intimate. If you’re pregnant, go look for the actual father of the child.”

Shit.

For a split second, my mind went blank. My stomach twisted violently. Dammit, Camila. I thought lying would rattle him, but this man isn’t stupid. I quickly masked the panic, forcing a pout onto my lips like it was the easiest thing in the world.

“Fine fine…I’m not pregnant,” I lied softly, letting my voice turn sweet and a little shy. “But… I want you to get me pregnant.”

Xavier stared at me for a beat, then let out a short, bitter laugh that stung more than any insult.

“You’re unbelievable.”

I ignored the burn in my chest and took a slow step closer, letting my hips sway just enough. The silk robe slipped slightly off one shoulder. I reached out and gently tugged on his tie, pulling him toward me until I could feel the heat of his body. I made my breath hitch, locking eyes with him, trying to look vulnerable and irresistible at the same time.

“Come on, Xavier,” I whispered, looking up at him through my lashes. “All my friends are having babies. I want that too. Just once… Sleep with me, and I’ll disappear from your life. I promise.”

Why doesn’t this man get hard for me? I thought desperately as I pressed my body against his. If he doesn’t fuck me, how the hell am I supposed to make him believe the child is his? This damn baby bump is going to start showing up soon.

My perfect plan was slipping through my fingers. Zane had promised me everything if I could trap Xavier with a pregnancy, but this man barely even looked at me. I needed him to want me. To lose control. Just this once.

“I know you want this baby,” I whispered, already lowering myself to my knees right there in the foyer. “Why don’t I start by giving you a blowjob?”

My hand moved boldly to his crotch, pressing firmly against his dick through the fabric of his trousers. I started palming him, stroking slowly, deliberately, trying to coax any reaction out of him.

“Here… come on, daddy. Let’s make babies,” I purred, looking up at him with wide, pleading eyes.

Xavier’s jaw tightened. In one swift, firm motion, he grabbed my wrist and yanked my hand away like I was dirty. His voice came out low, deep, and unmistakably alpha. “Get up.” His voice was low and controlled. “Now.”

I froze on my knees, shock slamming into me. I had thrown everything at him—my body, my seduction, my fake vulnerability—and still nothing. He wasn’t even slightly hard. Not even a bit.

The humiliation stung so deep I could taste it, but I slowly rose to my feet anyway, refusing to look defeated.

Without another word, Xavier turned and started walking toward the door.

Just then, Lynn, the housekeeper, appeared from the dining area, her steps hesitant. “Sir, your food is ready,” she said politely. “Gold-leaf chocolate mousse with gourmet lasagna layered with cheeses and king crab legs.”

Xavier’s mouth twitched for a split second. I saw something flicker in his eyes, but he didn’t stop. He walked right past her without a single word, like she didn’t exist.

The moment the front door shut behind him with that heavy, final click, something inside me snapped.

“Fuck you, Xavier Cross!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, my face twisting with raw rage. “Fuck you! Fuck you and everything you own! Fuck that stupid ass bitch, Veronica!”

Lynn was still standing there, frozen, staring at me with wide, terrified eyes.

I whipped my head toward her. “What the hell are you looking at? Go out!” I screamed.

She flinched and practically ran away, disappearing into another room.

I stood alone in the grand foyer, breathing hard, chest heaving. I was furious. I rolled my eyes and rubbed my forehead, trying to calm the storm raging inside me. My perfect plan was crumbling faster than I could control.

Frustration and fear twisted painfully in my chest. With shaking fingers, I pulled out my phone and dialed Zane.

The second he picked up, I spoke in the softest, most defeated voice I could manage.

“Babe… you know the plan? The one where I go threaten Veronica? Well, I did it. Everything went exactly as we planned. He came here not long ago, just like you said he would. I tried… God, I tried everything to seduce him. I wore the sexiest robe, I touched him, I went down on my knees and offered to… you know. But he looked at me like I was disgusting. He pushed me away.”

My voice cracked, and real tears filled my eyes this time.

“Babe… I feel like we should give up. This plan is shitty. It can’t work.”

Zane’s voice exploded through the phone, loud and vicious. “Can’t work? Are you fucking kidding me?

You’re a good-for-nothing girlfriend! Other women would have handled this already. But you? You’re still complaining. Then what’s your purpose as a wife if we get officially married? You better convince him by all means, that’s your duty. He must have sex with you. Do whatever you have to do!”

His words landed like punches. I squeezed my eyes shut.

“Okay…” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “I’m sorry.”

The call ended abruptly. I stood there in the middle of the luxurious foyer, still pressing the phone to my ear even after the line went dead. Heavy sobs started escaping me as tears rolled down my face.

I slid down onto the cold marble floor, hugging my knees tightly to my chest. My expensive robe pooled around me like a pathetic reminder of how hard I had tried and failed.

What is wrong with me? I thought bitterly, shoulders shaking. Why am I never enough? Not enough for Zane and not enough for Xavier.

All this beauty, all this effort, and I still couldn’t make one man want me for five minutes. The thought made me feel sick.

Even with all this money, this body, this face… he still doesn’t want me.

For the first time in a long while, I felt completely broken—questioning my worth, my beauty, everything.

Then another thought hit me, sharper and colder than the rest.

Why do I always have to make the sacrifices for Zane?

For years, it had been me carrying everything. The lies, the manipulation, the constant pretending. Even if this plan worked, it would all be for him. And instead of giving me even a little sympathy, he screamed at me and called me good-for-nothing.

I wiped my tears angrily with the back of my hand.

He’s going through a lot, I know that… but it’s not easy on my end either.

Still, the thought of losing him terrified me more than anything.

I sniffled, trying to pull myself together. Well… I know he said all that out of love. Zane loves me. I know he does.

A small, determined spark flickered through the pain.

I’ll do everything in my power to make this work, so my Zane can be happy. And maybe… he’ll finally love me even more.

I hugged my knees tighter, my eyes hardening with fresh resolve.

I also have to put my all into this plan–not just for Zane, but to also prove Daddy wrong. Zane isn’t useless after all, and he is definitely not the failure Daddy thinks he is.
