"Let's go, Frida," I plead.
She nods.
"Get in," she demands.
I obey, giving her one last look through the window, and before she starts the car, I notice them walking away, and all three of them get into a car. I bite my lower lip, feeling nervous.
"Do you think you can lose them?"
"I'll try," she affirms.
She starts maneuvering with the steering wheel, and after a long few minutes, I breathe a sigh of relief when I realize we're not being followed.
I didn't know who they were, but I hoped Axel would help me find out.
(...)
"And? Do you know them?"
"I have no fucking clue who they are. You say they've been following you since you left with Frida?" I nod.
"I just hope they're not journalists. God, don't they ever get tired?" I growl.
I lean against the furniture, feeling a strong kick from the baby inside. Axel rushes to me, looking at me with concern.
"Alright. Enough. You can't worry, damn it," he scoffs.
Forcing me to sit down. I sigh, he's right. It's one of the thousand recommendations from his ex, and even so, being part of the media wouldn't do me any good.
"I know, but..."
His cell phone starts ringing, he furrows his brows, and so do I. It's not his usual ringtone. He raises an eyebrow as he searches for it in his pockets and answers.
I squint at his growing concern, however, it's the seriousness on his face and the tension in his body that makes me straighten mine.
"What's going on?" I inquire.
He growls, taking the remote control in his hands, turning on the TV, and pressing the numbers for the news channel.
"Whispering, I indulge in fantasizing about novelty and talking about various things with Frida. When it's time to leave, we exit the place laughing like two teenagers. She stops at her car to search for her keys, and I simply accompany her, or well, wait, as she will give me a ride home.
"I hope it's just my imagination, but I've noticed those three guys behind us all afternoon," she comments, furrowing her confused eyebrows. "They're behind you, pretend to look away."
I try, pretending to stretch, and as I lower my arms, I accidentally hit her hand, causing her bag to fall. She looks at me surprised, and I just press my lips together and shrug, saying it was the only thing I could think of.
As I try to get out to help her, I do it at the speed of a turtle, looking over my shoulder and noticing the three guys dressed in ordinary clothes but with a straight posture. I grimace, completely disoriented.
They are at a considerable distance, but their figures draw a lot of attention, and I don't say that just because they're attractive. It's because they look overly serious.
"They're good-looking."
"And strange," she comments to me.
She finally finds the keys and proceeds to open the back door for me. Before getting in, I pretend to fix the collar of her coat to ask her something. The fabric is soft against my fingers, just like the faint scent emanating from her body. I look into her eyes.
"Do you think they're following us?"
"They have been since I went to your apartment to pick you up," she assures.
And I trust her word. I nod, feeling a bit panicked. I don't think they're reporters looking for a new scandal, although I believed those people were capable of anything to get a scoop.

The gossip channel, I say.
