Chapter 115 Chapter: 115
ANDREA
When I walked into the master bedroom, my eyes flitted over the huge four-poster bed that could accommodate a dozen people. It's the main attraction of the large room. Alessandro's bedroom was dark grey; from the paint on the walls to the bedding, everything was grey.
The bed looked comfortable, though I wouldn't know if it actually is. It's weird, really, but I feel like if I lay down on the bed and smell his addictive natural scent, like I would just shatter into so many pieces that nothing would be able to put me back together ever again.
So I avoided it despite how I so wanted to rub myself all over his sheets and smell whatever lingering scent of his I could find. I quickly used the bathroom, took a five-minute shower, and waddled back downstairs to wait for Casio.
I've been feeling cramps in my lower abdomen and an ache in my back for two days now. When I went to my doctor, he told me it was pre-labor signs. But I still have a long way to go. He'd told me I could go home, and the babies wouldn't be here until tomorrow. I'm not worried because he'd told me that before.
I just know that if it's time, nothing will stop the babies from coming into the world. Casio was waiting for me in the living room when I walked back into the room. Lara and Casio were seated on the same couch, both talking about something, but had instantly stopped when they saw me.
“Andrea, since Nicklaus said he would be here, why don't you wait for him? It wouldn't do for you guys to miss each other,” Lara said, pinching Casio probably to back her up.
“I think we should w…”
“Don't even say it. I'm not fucking waiting for anybody. I'm so sick of waiting. I'm an adult, and I know the way. I might not be Alessandro's wife or girlfriend, but I was his lover and the mother of his children. I have every right to visit him, see how he's doing for myself. I get that you're all worried about the babies and me, but we'll be okay,” I rant angrily, tears trailing down my cheeks.
It is so frustrating. I'm already crying over pretty much nothing, or angry, yelling for no apparent reason, without them annoying me with my emotions all over the place. My hormones were skyrocketing, add the cramps I'm trying to hide from them, else they insist we go to my doctor instead of going to Alessandro, and the nightmare I just had, and I was ready to explode. I know I looked utterly ridiculous in my maxi maternity blue dress and flip flops, trying to intimidate Casio by glaring at him.
“Now, Casio, are you coming with or not? If not, please give me the car keys. Last I checked, those were mine.” Alessandro, that crazy bastard, had left me everything he owns, which includes, but is not limited to, this whole building, his cars, his mansion in Long Island, and even his fighting Vault. All this in case he didn't survive.
It was Logan and Alex who told me this, when Alex came and shocked the hell out of me by giving me a monthly report of Vault, like I knew anything about it. I'd never asked for anything; I didn't even touch the credit card Casio had handed to me once, which was also Alessandro's work. Everything I needed was provided by his family and his friends, or whatever Logan and Casio were to him.
I didn't want Alessandro's money. I want the man himself. I want him alive and healthy to help me raise our kids. I want our children to have the love of both parents, as I did, and I simply want him alive because I could never imagine a world where Alessandro Marchetti didn't exist. Casio sighs and stands up, cutting off my thoughts.
“Come, I will take you; I just don't want him to miss us,” he said, leading the way.
“Andrea, wait, let me put on my sneakers. I'm coming with you,” Lara said, rushing into the guest room.
“I'm also going with you,” Meredith said.
Together, we all got into the elevator down to the underground parking lot, then walked to where Crow had parked the SUV. I was about to get into the SUV, which meant a lot of maneuvering, when a familiar car drove in and parked beside us.
Just then, my lower stomach contracted with a sharp, intense pain I'd never felt before; it was like a wave of agony, more painful than any menstrual cramp, and I couldn't help but cry out in distress.
My face scrunches with pain and mortification when I feel something liquid burst and gush out of me, trailing down my thighs and legs and wetting my maxi maternity dress.
“Oh God,” I groaned, beyond embarrassed.
“What is it, Andrea?” Lara asked worriedly; she'd been waiting to see me enter the car safely.
“Lara, I just peed. Casio can't see me like this. Shit, this is humiliating. I should have never left the penthouse. What am I going to do?” I said, still mortified that I'd wet my body, my eyes fixed on the liquid on my calves and dress. Somewhere, a car door thudded closed.
“I don't think it's pee, Andrea. I think it's the babies. Do you feel any signs of labor?”
“Yes, the babies. Oh God, they're coming, Lara. I think my water just broke, it is time, can you please call the doc…” I ended with a loud moan when another contraction hit me.
“Vixen, Lara, what is going on?” My head whipped up knowing there's only one man who ever called me that name. The moment my eyes met his, I froze in shock at his gorgeous face, Alessandro!
There was no question, it was him; the intensity of his eyes momentarily distracted me. I didn't expect him here; he must have just been released from the hospital. He strode towards me with a long, fast stride, his gorgeous face worried.
“Alessandro? Oh my God, you're here. You're really here,” I half yell, half moan, bending over with another contraction. He didn't stop to ask anything, just swiped me up into his arms like I weighed nothing.
“No, please put me down,” I yell, my face flushed with mortification that he would think I'd lost control of my bladder. I'd had a few accidents like that since I'd entered my trimester. God, it's not easy to be a mother. Alessandro ignored me and continued walking, carrying me over to where Nicklaus was still waiting in the car.
“Please, put me down.”
“Why?”
“Because I'm fat and heavy,” I groaned, clamping my lips to stop the scream wanting to burst out.
“That's not true, you're fucking beautiful,” he said, not slowing down.
“Fucking put me down, I'm wet Alessandro,” I yelled, frustrated, his mouth tilted in semblance of a smile, that dark brow arched upwards.
“Already, Vixen, I didn't even touch you yet,” he said, still smirking, though it quickly morphed into concern when I moaned painfully. Any other time, I would have been in a lather with that deadly smirk, right now, though, I feel like screaming at him. Fortunately, he deposited me into the car and got in after me.
“Meredith, go back to the penthouse and bring the baby bag,” Lara, who has been following closely behind, said to Meredith.
“What? Now? Do you think it's the babies?” she asked worriedly.
“Yes, Meredith. Go right fucking now, meet us at the hospital,” Lara yelled, getting into the front seat beside Nicklaus. I feel like the pain is everywhere.
I throw my legs over Alessandro's thighs while he yells at Nicklaus to hurry the fuck up. It's like after delaying their arrival, the babies are suddenly in a hurry to come into the world.
Here I was with the man I wanted to see, but I couldn't even show how happy I am to see him alive and healthy because of the excruciating pain I'm experiencing right now. The contractions are more frequent now; if this goes on, I will deliver these babies inside this car. I just hope we get there in time.
Fuck, this hurt like hell!
“Oh my God, look at her, she's so tiny and fucking cute, also she got your frown, Sandro,” Meredith said to her brother, her eyes fixed on the little bundle in her Nicklaus huge arms.
“Don't curse in front of my daughter, Mere, and I don't frown,” Alessandro argued, his large hand holding one of mine, where I lay on the bed watching and listening to them.
“Oh yes, you do. And it seems both your kids have taken after you, see how your son is glaring at me,” Lara said, kissing Adamoʼs forehead.
“Don't lie for the baby, Lara, it will come back to you in bad form. And give the baby to Anthon and Casio, you and Nicklaus have been hogging the babies for too long, others want to hold them too, you know, we haven't had a little kid since Natalie,” Moira Montgomery's said, which was true I'd notice how Nicklaus refuses to let others carry Alessia, who I'd kinda named after him. Considering his real name is Alessio.
I could already tell he's going to spoil her rotten. My kids are lucky to have so many people who love and care for them and would undoubtedly give their lives to protect them.
The doctors had limited the number of people allowed in; otherwise, the room would have been packed with all the Montgomerys waiting outside to see the babies. The room is already noisier than it is.
My eyes were heavy with sleep, my body tired. All I wanted was to sleep for a bit, but I couldn't bring myself to stop staring at my two beautiful babies.
My eyes misted with tears when I remembered what could have happened if Alessandro hadn't fought for us, if he'd agreed with his grandfather and had decided to be the Capo. We'd have never been here like this.
As I stared at them, my heart filled with so much love I didn't know what to do with it. I realized, knowing now how wonderful it is to bring these beautiful souls into the world, that if I were given the chance to make a different choice than the one that brought me here and now. I know without a doubt I wouldn't change a thing; I would make the same choices all over again.
All the pain, the fear, and the heartache, for my kids, I will go through it all over again. Because it was that choice that brought me here, Alessandro, Alessia, and Adamo Marchetti are so worth it.
“Why the tears, Vixen? Are you in pain?” Alessandro asked, his voice low. His beautiful dark eyes stared into mine with love. I recognize that intense look; it's a reflection of what is inside my heart. Just that look makes my heart pound faster, blocking everyone and everything; there's only him.
Alessandro
“No, I'm just very happy,” I whispered back. He leaned over, his mouth brushing mine, just that small contact, and I wanted more. He pulled back, his hands smoothing back my hair.
“Thank you, Andrea.”
“For what?”
“For coming into my life.”
