Chapter 78 Nora, You Have to Treat Me to a Meal
After a long while, he let her go.
Nora looked at him with hazy eyes, shy yet alluring, the corners of her eyes flushed red, making him want to make her cry hard.
Steven gazed at her and suddenly murmured, "If you weren't on your period, I'd devour you right now."
Nora's ears turned completely red.
The next day.
Nora got up early to make cookies. She'd been thinking about it and hadn't slept well all night.
At five o'clock, she started beating eggs, then noticed a box of coffee on the dining table.
She picked it up for a look. The box was exquisite and looked somewhat familiar.
It seemed like the one she'd seen in Steven's car that day.
She suddenly froze. Could it be... She opened the jar, and a faint floral fragrance wafted from the coffee grounds.
It was coffee!
And the smell was so unique, so wonderful... So this jar of coffee was the gift Steven had specially come to pick her up from work to give her that day?
At this thought, the corners of her lips curved up, impossible to suppress.
When Steven got up, the cookies were already done, packed in a pretty bag and placed where the Geisha coffee had been, as if exchanging gifts with him.
The Geisha coffee had already been taken by Nora.
Steven smelled the sweet, fruity coffee aroma in the air and knew she'd brewed the Geisha coffee today. His mood lifted considerably.
She knew.
Steven's gaze swept over.
Nora stood at the dining table pouring coffee, feeling a bit awkward, remembering their intense kiss yesterday.
Last night's kiss had been so intense that they'd both ended up with broken lips.
"Morning."
Steven walked over and pulled out a chair to sit down.
"Morning." Nora replied shyly, "Coffee and breakfast are ready. You can eat once you've freshened up."
"I'll eat in a bit," Steven responded, reaching for the bag of cookies. They were different from James's.
The ones she made for them were round cookies.
But the ones for him were heart-shaped, a unique shape.
Steven couldn't help but smile, looking up at her. "Heart-shaped?"
Nora felt shy under his gaze and lowered her head. "Just made them randomly, only added a tiny bit of sugar. Don't know if they're any good."
"Let me try." He ate one, a faint smile spreading in his eyes. "Very good. You're quite skilled."
Nora smiled and handed him the coffee. "Coffee's ready too."
Steven took a sip.
This was the taste.
His mood became inexplicably wonderful, like walking on clouds, floating. "Very good."
Nora also tried a sip, her eyes lighting up. "Wow! This is really delicious!"
She'd thought the smell was unique earlier, but now, drinking it, she was truly amazed.
A bit floral, a bit fruity, sweet yet bold coffee.
Nora looked at Steven with bright eyes. "Steven, you're really good at picking things."
Nora's words were so sweet.
What man wouldn't be happy hearing that? Steven's lips curved. "Then brew it for me every morning from now on."
"Sure!" Nora agreed. "This doesn't need any milk at all. It's delicious just like this."
The two ate at the table.
Steven really liked this kind of time, drinking coffee with his wife every morning, chatting and laughing, making him feel peaceful, satisfied, and sweet.
In the morning, Steven brought the cookies Nora made to the office.
He deliberately placed them on his desk for James and Clarence to notice.
"What's that?" James glanced over, his eyes lighting up. "Are those cookies made by Mrs. York?"
"Yes." Steven maintained a cool expression. "My wife gave them to me."
"Mrs. York is so talented!" Clarence understood Steven and praised him enthusiastically. "And they're heart-shaped! Mrs. York is not only talented but also really cares about Mr. York. The cookies she gives are heart-shaped, just full of love."
Steven felt very comfortable listening, his handsome face maintaining a faint smile all day.
On Nora's side, she was working on spreadsheets on her computer, recording the deal she'd closed with Andrew as a document, then printing it out.
She worked on this until the afternoon.
After she printed it, Bianca immediately went to check the printer. Seeing some waste paper, Bianca looked it over and knew the deal had been closed.
She immediately ran to Terry's office, and the two whispered inside.
Nora finished the spreadsheet and sent it to Andrew.
Nora: [Mr. Hayes, please check if there are any issues with the spreadsheet. If not, I'll put up a link, and you can just place the order in my shop.]
Andrew: [OK.]
Though he responded, he didn't even look. He didn't care about this small amount of money at all.
He replied directly to Nora: [No problem, Ms. Adams, go ahead and put up the link.]
Nora: [Okay.]
Nora prepared the link, then posted it and copied it to Andrew.
Nora: [Mr. Hayes, here's the link. Once payment is made, we can arrange shipping.]
Andrew had his people pay through the link, then messaged Nora: [Ms. Adams, Mr. Wood just arrived in the country. He'd like to look around South City these next few days. Could I trouble you to be a guide?]
Nora saw the order had been paid and was so happy she almost jumped up: [Of course! I'd be honored!]
This deal would make quite a bit of money!
Of course, Nora was willing to be their guide. Foreign clients were usually like this - they'd want to look around when they came.
Whenever Willie's big client came, Willie would personally host him, take him around, and even invite him home for dinner.
Having taken his order, Nora naturally needed to be warmer toward them. Otherwise, if she only cared about making money without any courtesy, clients would eventually be stolen away.
As long as Duke was willing to cooperate long-term, even if they placed just one order a month, she wouldn't have to worry about her future!
This was the wonderful feeling of landing a big order!
It was as if money was floating before her eyes, making her so happy she was practically walking on air.
She immediately went to bother Steven: [Hey, I landed a big order, haha.]
Steven was in his usual meeting and glanced at it without responding.
Mainly because a lot was going on, and stopping to reply would delay the meeting's progress.
Nora continued bothering him: [I'm so happy! Let's buy some good food tonight! If there's anything you want to eat, just say so. I'll make it for you tonight!]
Steven could imagine how happy this money-lover was.
He picked up his phone: [When are you treating me to dinner?]
Nora was checking chip prices online while taking time to reply: [What? Treat you to dinner?]
Steven: [Yes, you said so before.]
She'd said she'd treat him to dinner if she closed the 1210 deal, but so many days had passed, and she still hadn't kept her promise.
