Chapter 179: Couples' Outfits
"Need you ask? Of course, I hope their factory goes under, the company goes bankrupt, the Reed family members has nothing left, and they regret every last thing they've done." Nora didn't mince her words, her tone dripped with disgust.
Steven lowered his head and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Everything you want will come true."
Since Nora wanted the Reed family to suffer, Steven intended to see that wish fulfilled. After Olivia and Willie divorced, he would ensure the Reed family paid dearly
The next day was Sunday. Neither Nora nor Steven had any plans that day. After breakfast, they held hands and headed downstairs to the mall. Steven kept hold of her hand, his gaze sweeping the mall as if searching for something.
"What are you looking for?" Nora asked.
"Nothing." Steven's tone was casual, yet his eyes stayed fixed on the clothing stores.
Finally, he spotted a store that caught his eye. A small smile curved his lips as he pulled her inside.
The store had an upscale interior, with one section dedicated specifically to displaying couples' outfits.
Steven led her straight over. "Let's buy a set of these."
"What?" Nora blinked at him, confused. "Why do you suddenly want to buy clothes? Didn't we just buy some?"
"Let's buy a few more sets. When Chris comes over again, we'll wear these." Steven's tone was serious.
Only then did Nora realize he was still thinking about yesterday's matching incident. She couldn't help but laugh. "So you want to wear matching outfits with me?"
"Would you rather wear them with someone else?" Steven picked up a set with a light blue top and beige skirt—and shot her a dissatisfied look.
"Of course not, I was just asking." Nora said quickly.
Steven handed her the clothes, then pulled them back with a frown. "Light blue won't work. I don't like this color."
Nora paused, realizing he was hinting at the blue shirt Philip wore yesterday.
He picked out another set with a beige sweater and black pants. This time, he nodded. "This one works. Go try it on."
"Okay." Nora obediently took the clothes into the fitting room.
Steven grabbed the men's version as well and headed off to change.
When Nora came out after changing, Steven was already waiting for her. In the beige sweater, his tall, lean figure looked gentler and more refined than she was used to.
"Wow, it really suits you!" Nora's eyes lit up as she walked over, unable to resist reaching out to feel the sweater's texture. "This fabric feels so nice." As she spoke, her hand drifted unconsciously across his chest.
Steven cleared his throat softly, reminding her in a low voice, "Don't touch me like that in public."
Only then did Nora realize her actions had been a bit much. Her face flushed red as she quickly pulled her hand back, not daring to look at him.
Steven leaned close to her, whispering in her ear, "Is it because I didn't kiss you last night... so now you want to have sex?"
Nora glared at him and swatted him in embarrassment. "No way! I was just feeling the fabric."
"You were feeling the fabric, but why were you teasing me?" Just now, Nora had been running her hands all over his chest—if that wasn't teasing, what was?
Nora's face reddened. "I told you I wasn't!"
Just then, a sales clerk walked over with a smile. "How do the clothes fit you two?"
"Still trying them on," Steven answered coolly. Nora hid behind him, face still red, not daring to speak.
Seeing this, the clerk continued enthusiastically, "You two look so good together. Our couple outfits are perfect for you..."
Steven just nodded, signaling that the clerk didn't need to follow them.
Nora looked in the mirror and saw herself and Steven wearing the same clothes. Her heart lifted, a quiet happiness blooming inside her.
Before, she was always the one buying matching items. This was the first time Steven had taken the initiative to wear the same clothes as her. Thanks to Chris's matching yesterday, Steven finally felt a bit of pressure.
Nora felt a sweetness rise inside her and asked him with a smile, "Steven, what do you think?"
Steven looked at her satisfied expression in the mirror and deliberately said, "It's okay, I guess."
Nora paused. "I think it looks pretty good."
"I think it's alright." Steven acted indifferent as he picked up another couple outfit. "Try this one on, too."
"Okay." Nora took the dress and went back into the fitting room.
After coming out in the second set, Nora felt she looked more like a young girl, and Steven, in the shirt, looked especially distinguished.
"This one's nice too." Nora found herself rather liking it.
Steven still shook his head. "Try something else."
The third set was a long coat with dark pants.
When Nora came out, her long hair flowing over her shoulders, she looked both beautiful and elegant.
"Which one do you like?" Steven asked her.
Nora looked in the mirror. All three sets were nice and looked quite elegant on her. She hesitated a bit. "I think they all look pretty good."
But Steven said, "Then let's not get any of them."
"What? We're not buying them?" Nora asked, confused.
"Do you want to buy them?" Steven stood behind her, his gaze intense as he looked at her, as if waiting for her to personally admit she wanted to wear matching outfits.
Nora felt a bit shy, her fingers fidgeting. "I think we could buy one set, and then we could wear them out together."
"You want to wear the same thing as me?" Steven asked again.
Nora nodded. Though a bit embarrassed, she still admitted it. "Yes... I want to."
Steven's mood improved instantly, and he said smoothly, "Then stay away from Chris from now on."
"What does this have to do with Chris?" Nora was a bit speechless.
"I just don't like it." Steven's voice was low, edged with quiet dominance.
Nora said quietly, "I know. Next time he comes over, I'll be more distant with him."
"Better yet, act like he doesn't exist." Steven put his arm around her waist.
Nora was startled as he pulled her into his embrace. "We're in public!"
"Did you hear me?" Steven looked down at her, his tone serious.
"But he's your boss. Won't it be rude if we act like that?"
"It's fine. That's just how he is. You don't need to pay attention to him."
"Okay." Nora thought Steven was really jealous, but she also found it kind of cute.
Satisfied, Steven told the clerk, "We'll take all three sets. We'll wear this one out."
"All three sets?" Nora was surprised.
"Yes." Steven swiped his card without hesitation.
Nora asked quietly, "How much are three sets?"
"Not much." Steven put away the receipt, not letting her see it.
"Tell me. I won't return them anyway since we already bought them." Nora was curious.
"Five or six thousand dollars," Steven said casually.
Nora's eyes widened. "That expensive!"
"It's alright." Steven didn't care. To him, this amount of money was nothing. If it weren't for wearing matching outfits, he wouldn't have bought them at all.
Nora took his arm, saying a bit embarrassedly, "Honey, you've really worked hard. I haven't had much income lately, and I've spent a lot of your money."
Steven glanced at her and noticed she'd become more considerate recently, not as petty as before. Feeling pleased, his lips curved. "Just be good."
Nora's face flushed slightly.
She knew Steven liked gentle, obedient girls, so this time she'd go along with him.
Steven had done many things that moved her recently, and she wanted to make him happy, too.
After buying clothes, they went to lunch.
Halfway through the meal, Nora's phone rang. She looked down. "It's Olivia."
"She must have run into some trouble. Go ahead and answer." Steven placed a chicken wing in her bowl.
Nora nodded and answered the call. "Olivia."
"Nora, where are you right now?" Olivia asked on the other end.
"Steven and I are having lunch at the mall."
"Are you done eating?"
Hearing Olivia ask this, Nora immediately sensed something was up. "Olivia, did something happen?"
"Yes, the whole Reed family showed up." Olivia's tone was somewhat helpless.
They'd agreed to just talk about the divorce with Willie, but unexpectedly, the entire Reed family came.
Olivia felt at a disadvantage being alone, so she called Nora. "If you're free, can you guys come over?"
"We're free. We don't have anything going on today. Olivia, send me the address, and we'll come right away."
"Okay." Olivia sent the location.
Nora quickly ate a few bites of rice and told Steven, "Olivia's talking divorce with Willie, but the whole Reed family showed up. Olivia wants us to come help."
"Alright, but I have an event at four." Steven checked the time.
"It's only noon now. We'll definitely make it."
The two quickly finished eating and rushed to the restaurant where Olivia was meeting the Reed family members.
The Reed family had booked a private room. Inside sat Willie, Eleanor, Bianca, and Giselle. Terry didn't come because his leg hadn't healed yet.
On Olivia's side, she was alone. When Nora pushed open the door to the private room, she felt like Olivia was a little lamb surrounded by a pack of wolves.
Hearing the door, the Reed family members all looked toward the entrance.
Nora walked in holding Steven's arm, the two of them in matching outfits, looking perfectly well-matched.
Steven wore a black mask, his gaze stern and cold.
Bianca stared at Steven, trying to see his face clearly, but the mask blocked most of it. All she could see were those deep eyes.
"Is that Nora's husband?" Giselle asked Bianca quietly.
"Yes." Though Bianca had never seen his face, those eyes left a deep impression—they made people feel a little afraid.
"Have a seat." Seeing them arrive, Willie gestured for them to sit.
Nora pulled Steven to sit beside Olivia.
The two wore matching coats and looked very much in love.
