Chapter 171: Confessions
Chapter 171: Confessions
Krimson’s P.O.V
"You're not Harmona," I spoke softly, the words tinged with both realization and a newfound acceptance.
"I was torn, thinking that by feeling this way about you, I was betraying her memory but you're not her, you're Lilac, a different soul altogether."
Lilac's grip on my hand tightened, her eyes glistening with unshed tears and I hated to have put her in this situation. "I am her reincarnation, I carry her essence, her memories, but I am not her," she affirmed, her voice carrying a note of quiet strength.
"I've struggled with that too, trying to navigate between who I was and who I am now. I'm sorry for any pain my presence might have caused."
"No," I shook my head gently, feeling the weight of remorse settle upon me. "It wasn't you who caused the pain, it was my inability to see beyond the surface, to understand that you're your own person, not bound by the past."
Her lips curved into a tender smile, and for a moment, the world seemed to still be around us.
"Krimson, it's time for us to heal, to move beyond the shadows of what was and embrace what could be," Lilac said, her voice carrying a hope that echoed in my heart.
Taking a deep breath, I nodded, a sense of resolution washing over me, glad that she was talking of moving on.
"Yes, Lilac. I want to move forward, to cherish what we have in this moment," I confessed, finally allowing myself to acknowledge the love that had bloomed, regardless of the tangled web of emotions from the past.
As our hands remained clasped, a sense of serenity enveloped us, the daylight outside whispering promises of a new beginning, a chance to redefine our story, unburdened by the weight of misconceptions and regrets.
As I sat there, facing Lilac in the soft glow of the afternoon sun that streamed through the windows, I couldn't help but feel the weight of the confession I was about to make. It had been brewing within me for years, silently gnawing at my soul, and now, as I gazed into her eyes, I knew I couldn't keep it to myself any longer.
"Lilac," I began, my voice soft yet laced with an intensity born of years of inner turmoil, "there's something I need to tell you. Something that has been with me since the moment I laid eyes on you."
Lilac looked at me, her eyes reflecting a mixture of curiosity and surprise. "What is it, Krimson? You seem so serious."
"It's not something I've come to terms with easily, Lilac. I've struggled, fought with my own heart for years, trying to deny what I knew deep down but I can't deny it any longer," I confessed, my voice tinged with a vulnerability I rarely showed. "The truth is, despite everything, despite the complications and the history, the person I love most right now is you."
A mixture of emotions flickered across Lilac's face, a blend of disbelief, confusion, and perhaps a glimmer of understanding. I held my breath, waiting for her response, unsure of what she might say or how she might react to the weight of my admission.
"Krimson, I... I don't know what to say," Lilac finally spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've only recently discovered that I am Harmona's reincarnation. It's a lot to process."
"I understand," I said quickly, wanting her to know that I wasn't expecting immediate acceptance or reciprocation. "I didn't mean to overwhelm you but I needed you to know, to understand that my feelings for you, they're genuine, despite the complexities of our past and our connection."
"I didn't realize it then, but it was after you were gone that I truly understood what I felt for you. It took your absence for me to realize that I had already fallen for you, deeply and completely." I took a deep breath, my eyes never leaving hers. "I began to see the gaps you left behind, the void that no one else could fill. Your absence made me realize that you had become an integral part of my life, that I yearned for your presence more than I ever thought possible."
Tears welled up in Lilac's eyes, a mixture of relief and aching emotions, one that she had always wanted to let out.
"I never knew, Krimson. I thought… I thought you didn't care."
"I should have shown you," I replied, regretting my treatment of her while she was in my pack. "I should have made it clear, but I was lost in my own confusion. And then, when I finally understood, you were gone."
The weight of my confession hung in the air, a silent acknowledgment of missed opportunities and unspoken feelings but amidst the heaviness, there was a glimmer of hope, a sense of understanding blooming between us.
"Lilac," I continued, my voice gentle yet resolute, "knowing that you're Harmona's reincarnation—it doesn't change how I feel about you. My feelings were already there, long before I knew anything about your true past."
Lilac looked at me, her eyes searching my face for sincerity, for the truth she desperately needed to believe.
"I love you," I said without hesitation, my voice steady and sure. "I love you, Lilac and I've come to terms with the past. Harmona's story is a part of us, but it doesn't define our love or our future."
Tears streamed down Lilac's cheeks, but they were tears of relief, of finally finding the reassurance she needed. She reached out, taking my hand in hers.
"I love you too, Krimson and knowing this, knowing that you feel the same despite everything, it means everything to me."
Our hands intertwined, a silent promise passing between us. In that moment, we both knew that our love was stronger than the shadows of the past, and together, we could embrace the future without the weight of uncertainties holding us back.
