Chapter 165: Battle for Survival Part 1
Lilac’s P.O.V

For a moment, time seemed suspended, the tableau frozen in an eerie stillness. Silver hesitated, her gaze flickering between me and Krimson, the dagger held poised in the air, its lethal purpose momentarily forgotten in the face of Krimson's interruption.

"Step away from her, Silver," Krimson's voice cut through the tension, unwavering and authoritative.

His stance was firm, commanding obedience without question.

The grip of Silver's magic lessened, the pressure easing just enough for me to draw a ragged breath. My muscles protested as I struggled against the binds anew, though I didn't dare to take my eyes off Silver, her expression a maelstrom of conflicting emotions - anger, desperation, and a hint of something I couldn't quite place.

"Krimson, you shouldn't be here," Silver's voice wavered, a tremor betraying the turmoil within her. Her grip on the dagger faltered, uncertainty clouding her features.

"You know I couldn't stand by and let you do this," Krimson's tone softened, a tinge of sadness underlying his words. He took a cautious step forward, his gaze unwavering as he locked eyes with Silver.

The room seemed charged with an electric tension, emotions swirling in a tempestuous dance. I dared not move, caught between relief at Krimson's arrival and the lingering fear of what Silver might do next. The dagger hung suspended between us, a fragile balance between life and impending danger.

Before she could gather her bearings, Krimson's voice sliced through the tense silence. "Silver, let her go."

Silver's brows deepened. "I can’t, Krimson. What are you doing here? How did you even find me?"

Krimson's expression remained unreadable, a mask of stoicism that belied the turmoil within. "That’s not of primary concern here, Silver. Let her go."

But Silver refused to yield. Instead, she unleashed a torrent of wraiths, dark and ethereal, from the depths of her magic. The wraiths swirled around them, their eerie presence suffusing the air with an ominous chill.

I gasped, my chest tightening with fear. My instincts urging me to stand and confront the impending threat. Yet, the ropes around me refused to budge.

Suddenly, I saw more figures appearing beside Krimson, just as the wraith unleashed their treachery onto them. My pack! The Secret Circle! They came for me!

"Silver, stop!" I cried out, my voice echoing in desperation but Silver was resolute, her focus fixed on Krimson and the wolves, a battle of wills and loyalties playing out before my very eyes.

The wolves surrounding Krimson seemed eerily calm, their gaze fixed on Silver and the encroaching wraiths. My mind raced, trying to find out ways to free myself from Silver’s clutches and defeat the wraiths.

However, in the middle of all the turmoil was someone else. Someone who I had failed to notice before, but clearly, Silver had.

Del Garnier.

My ex-boyfriend and a wizard…someone who was no better than a human himself and had no power in this battle whatsoever. He was the weakest link, the one easiest to kill, and that’s exactly the kind of opponent Silver needed.

My heart raced as I saw Silver advancing towards Del, a dark glint in her eyes that sent shivers down my spine.

"Stop, Silver! What are you doing?" I shouted, my voice laced with urgency and fear. But she didn't heed my words; instead, she continued to move closer to Del with an unsettling determination.

"Silver, please!" I pleaded, desperation creeping into my tone. She turned to face me, and for a moment, I saw a flicker of recognition in her eyes, but it was quickly replaced by an icy resolve.

Before I could react, she lunged at Del, and instinct took over. With a sudden rush of power and adrenalin, I exerted as much force I could on my restrains and the satisfying sound of them snapping greeted my ears as I sat up on the marble table, removing the ropes from my body as I jumped into the battle with the rest of my friends and Krimson.

From across the room, Krimson’s eyes met mine momentarily, holding thousands of unsaid words, but we knew this wasn’t the time. With a small nod of acknowledgement, I turned to help Del get away from Silver. Del had a small cut on his arm, but otherwise seemed fine.

Without a second thought, I jumped in between Silver and Del, defending my friend against her relentless attacks.
